Only the reddit crowd, most of them comes from reddit because people posted a ragebait post there about Passion for Sound which started a witch hunt. Toxic place, spare yourself and don't ever set foot there. Echo chamber strong, no discussion only karma farming about what is already approved by the echo chamber. Speaking from personal experience here. lol

I’ve heard this headphone and compared it thoroughly to my zmf verite open + audeze lcd 4z. In my opinion it is like combing the pros and cons of both headphones in a way with how it presents sound. Smoother than normal neutral tuned dynamics and planars, amazing mid bass, sub bass is accurate - definitely not suited for bassheads, treble I wouldn’t say is extremely accurate due to how it presents sound. I’d call it an end game headphone for some or at least a genre specific end game headphone for many.

Thanks for sharing! My hedd became the replacement for my damaged 4z. I used to eq a bit more subbase in the 4z and then started to turn up the volume more and more to get "into" the music. With the hedd Im very careful with the subbase. They can move a lot of air and on some tracks it gets too much for me. Also I dont have the urge to increase the volume anymore. To me the hedd seems to sound and resolve no worse on normal levels. What I am thinking about is a lokius to play around with different colourations though...

@@tdfmike3915 thanks for sharing, i used the one I had when my 4z was damaged. Had to fork out 500 ish to Audeze for driver replacements. What I would recommend using if you have a windows or mac as a digital source is a plugin named canopener loaded into equalizer apo. The plugin isn’t crazily expensive and is the only dsp plugin to date that doesn’t degrade the audio quality. The plugin lets you emulate crossfeed, mono bass and room reflections. It was originally designed for audeze headphones but it works well with any accurate tuned headphone. Makes any headphones i’ve tried it on sound more realistic when you get the config right

Nice video- I have heard these pretty extensively out of a Zahl HM1 amp and a RME ADI-2/4 Pro Se, compared directly to my LCD-5 and a Arya Organic. First the good- These are made very nice and built well. They were super comfortable for me. Now the bad- The bass without EQ is not good at all, and if you fix it with a bass shelf the bass sounds poofy and soft. Overall this sounds a lot like an estat and for me, it sounds too much like an estat, as I am not into the estat sound, as it lacks note weight and the decay is not natural sounding to MY EARS. I think if you are a person who enjoys an estat like sound signature, these may be for you.

Excellent review! I learned about the heddphone 2 and via comparisons, more about several other headphones! Very nicely done Lachlan! I happened to listen to the hedd 2 ( & hedd 1 ) at SoCal CanJam last year:) I found it at first on the first rig, unfortunately not totally sure maybe a smsl model? Sounded detailed but not very dynamic. They had a Lina Stack handy and with that amp in particular, the hedd 2 rose to it’s abilities, more alive sounding, more full, more engaging. It struck me that these benefit with some power, and with that warrant the price of admission. The Arya Organics on the rig at hand ( orange and high powered, sorry ) almost over powered? The engagement was clearly there, but bass balance could overflow the mids and treble for me. My impression was that the amp was likely too much in this case pairing. But i found the organic to have a lot of potential for a good price point! I’ve heard the og utopia, it is pairing dependent for me too: a few years ago the utopia was all around canjam, oddly with a Chord Dave i heard quite a bit of grain, but i’m grain averse. With a smoother rendering the utopia sounds amazing to me. But the dave experience sent me hunting :) Rare that I’ve heard a few headphones in one comparison! Oh and the Verite opens, love these. I think it is key you brought forward the coloration distinction! So important! I agree with how you hear coloration on the headphones I’ve heard in this comparison. 👍 👍👍👍

I think when comes to headphones and iems you should rate them at different volumes. Because we all know that at highers volumes drivers with no air can get to much with highs. I have to tune all my iem because i listen at high volume. Then at medium volumes they bleed. At higher. Perfect . Maybe if you have a pic with a phone there and show the rate at low,medium and high volumes. One thing i found out, is when i tune all my iem for the same tune. Then i can judge how good the driver is. Some they thicker like i like and they well control at higher volumes and some not.

I don't have the 600s here to compare, but you're probably onto something there. The bass is more extended, but there's also a little less in the mid-bass area so they're going to sound a little different, but along the same lines I think.

@@PassionforSoundyeah I think the HEDDphone TWO has a flatter and more totally balanced response than the HD600 personally. More even overall than just mid range. Sort of similar with what the newer Audeze headphones have, a little more midrange presence with a rise into the pinna gain region with a more subtle mid treble response as compared to harman but not being super recessed or laid back. (I don’t really care for harman lol). I really hope to try some of HEDD’s stuff someday to hear how the AMT affects the sound

I don't understand the difference between consumer and studio headphones..how is it possible that a consumer pro headphone can't hear what a studio headphone can..I mean is the consumer headphone eating up the music? @PassionforSound
@PassionforSound 2 месяца назад
Being a pro headphone is all about the tuning of these. A mixing tool like these needs to be as neutral as possible to prevent any audio produced with it from having unwanted emphasis or dips at any frequencies. As for the "hearing everything" bit, that's more about the driver they're using and that type of resolution isn't limited to Pro headphones. As an example of the tonalities, your Beyerdynamic headphones have lifted bass and lifted treble which makes them fun to listen to, but would lead to a mix that is lacking bass and treble if they were used as a tonal reference when mixing music.

For the sense of speed and space, they'll be excellent. Tonality is where it gets a little tricky - they won't have the weight and presence of some headphones that have more bass and they have slightly subdued lower treble which some people may find a little veiled so that's where it's tricky.

THAT would be the only comparison that would make sense to really test how well these headphone do what they claim to do... not pick a random 700 USD cheaper headphone which is a VARIATION as in coloration type of the Arya line up which make zero sense whatsoever. Other than that thumbs up on the video as a whole but please DO a follow up with the HEDDphone 2 vs HE1000SE for sure which is the only way to really judge and compare them.
@PassionforSound
@PassionforSound 2 месяца назад
I hadn't updated my database at the time I prepared this so I was looking at the HEKSE as being more expensive. Having compared the Utopias to the HP2, there's no need to revisit the HEKSE because the Utopias are more revealing and the HP2 match the Utopia. Combine that with a more balanced tonality and the HP2 is the better reference headphone IMO. (This isn't a knock on the HEKSE - they serve a different purpose)
@PEM-zt5rd
@PEM-zt5rd 2 месяца назад
@@PassionforSound that is really interesting but thanks for the input. Before the HP2, a lot of people like the HEKSE for its resolution/detail/clarity to enjoy their music on.... as it also is neutral as in natural. A violin sounds exactly like it would if you were holding it in your hands for example. Would you say that now the HP2 could be used to enjoy music for the same reasons people used to choose HEKSE ? I'm looking for the most revealing headphone with minimum to no added "salt" BUT I do want to get lost in the music as well and not have my ears pierced/fatigued. Based on this, I assume you would pick the HP2 ?
@PassionforSound
@PassionforSound 2 месяца назад
I definitely think the HP2 could be excellent for that type of sound, but it depends. Some people actually like a bit of colouration without realising it. The HEKSE has some extra bite in the treble that's not natural, but many people love it. On the other hand, the HP2 has a dip in the lower treble that makes them non-fatiguing, but some might feel makes them sound a little veiled (that's not how I perceive them). This is where it gets tricky! I'd choose the HP2 for what you've described, but others might not.
@PEM-zt5rd
@PEM-zt5rd 2 месяца назад
@@PassionforSound thanks for the detailed reply and sorry for the late reply back. I was out of town. I value your opinion a lot which is why I am more confused than ever. But you might be absolutely right. You see, for the longest time I had the HEKSE as my thought to be end game headphone, out of my budget unless I do some economic optic illusions in my yearly expenses... but you got me thinking... Am I looking for the most accurate sound to WORK with an objective sound, for example for mixing and mastering (then the HP2) OR am I also looking to get drowned in the sea of auditory bliss? I had not thought of the artificial bite in the treble which is 'coloration' without a doubt. I am confused because I had thought I could do both with the HEKSE... but when I think deeply, I realize that if I am to become an economic magician and then spend 2K on headphones alone... then I'm leaning 80% towards getting Bliss out of them and 20% importance to them being super neutral/accurate. Until now I have used Sennheiser HD560S which are very accurate and neutral but ZERO fun... no bass, no life what so ever. But they seem to also lack the resolution I seek. This headphone journey might be a longer ride than expected to find what I seek. Please allow me to ask 1 question since I now have your attention. The DAC/AMP combo also plays a huge role but I suspect its less subjective compared to headphones... I have Aune S17 Pro and LAiV Harmony as my end game combo in mind... do you any AMP or DAC that can beat either of them in their respective price points or slightly higher? For example, you like the Schiit Mjolnir 3 a lot but how does it compare against the Aune S17 Pro? OR the Harmony DAC versus the Yggdrasil you like? OR if Im to go a more budget friendly route with the Fiio K19 to also have hardware EQ and just EQ my headphones to be more accurate using software or even to be more/less Fun and just be more versatile. OR forget my brain and go with my heart and the Topping DX9 purely on aesthetics haha because it reminds me of that Mcintosh look but instead of blue, a warmish orange vibe. Sets the mood for me for sure :) Would really love your input on those options. I also just subscribed to your channel as well. Didn't notice I wasn't subscribed... thought I had done so long time ago. Thanks in advance, all the best!
@PassionforSound
@PassionforSound 2 месяца назад
Great questions and thought processes! The Harmony seems lovely. I have one here now and have briefly listened, but done no in-depth comparisons. In short though, I'd stick with that at the price, I think. With the amp, the Mjolnir 3 is a clear step up from the S17 Pro and the best you can get until approaching Burson Voyager territory (IMO). If you're after sonic bliss as your preference, I'd look at the MJ3 with the Harmony and HEKSE. I think that will be a mighty blissful setup. If you're doing any production/mixing with the HEKSE, just be sure to mix it accordingly so it's got a bit of bite from your chain. That way, it won't be too mellow up top on warmer/smoother chains.
