This f'ing infuriates me. So people who spend a most of their expendable income on mtg and have supported them for decades, are not able to participate in the second iteration one of my fave sets of all? I have NEVER been able to go to convention in the states or in Canada as I live in shit town nowhere and make f all. The only way to get it is to buy a convention in a box that comes with a bunch of crap they could not sell otherwise. I will still try and get a box through that system, but who knows if it will sell out before I/we get a chance. Probably have to pay $500 usd to get a single box and 4 crappy commander decks that I probably already have, and a promo that I may or may not like. There is so much about this that is just wrong. If they really wanted it for just the conventions, then why advertise and "leak" it like it's a retail product? Just say "Chaos drafts with a convention exclusive mystery set" in convention emails or ads and do not rub it in the faces of players and collectors that have no way of affording / travelling to conventions. Great for all you who live in the states and are able to go, I would LOVE to, have wanted to since the 90's, but have never been able to take time off or afford the travel, food, hotel and tickets etc etc etc. I have when companies do this type of stuff, and for a "inclusive" company, this sure isn't.
I'm thinking it'll only be temporary. MB1 started out convention exclusive, then like a year later it was literally EVERYWHRE. prices even dropped to a reasonable point for a box. So here's hoping that happens again.
thanks for being not so negative on this. other channels are complaining about the exclusivity of it. you're like the one channel that's not shitting on the way they are releasing it lol. i think they're trying too hard to be the voice of "the little people"/ the underdog in order to get clicks. some things aren't meant for everyone and the number one complaint form the professor and peasantkenobi is "not everyone will be able to play with it" yeah duh! that's kinda the point of an exclusive product.
this set is for you if a you are at a computer the second the festival in a box goes live or b if you can shell out 100$s to go to a magic fest and do mb2 drafts
Here's my prediction: Festival in a Box is about to go up in price. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't it like 250 or 350 before but you got a Mystery Booster Box, a prerelease kit, promos, and a bunch of packs?? Yeah add another $200 to that and take away some of those packs.
Cooling down a little, if this were extended to regular ol command fest, I could live with that. But if it’s only the big ones (though oddly not San Diego Comic-Con, as wotc hasn’t had a real presence there in over a decade), that’s wack.
The white borders and Future Sight borders are silly. Slightly fun for a chaos draft but overall tacky. White borders look horrible with modern frames and Future Sight borders look horrible with art not meant to be cut off like that
Mystery booster 1 convention ed. was also released as a one time release to wpn stores I believe in 2022 so the same can happen with mb2 without a special separate retail edition. Regardless, it will slowly get highly distributed over the next few years.. no need to fomo here.
I don't mind, we've had convention exclusive stuff forever basically and it makes sense to reward people for engaging in those experiences they offer. Might be biased though because I don't want this at all 😂 not interested in white borders, and future sight borders are kinda cool but don't draw me enough
@@TripsAhoy making them available was a great thing. The first release that was only at the cons is still extremely expensive. Product should be available and affordable until years down the road, not made instantly expensive from manufactured rarity.
I wouldn't mind this if conventions were still things you could just walk into, rather than a paid entry thing. In fact paid entry is why I don't go to these things anymore at all. I don't need to pay up-front before I drop hundreds of dollars inside. No thank you.
How's the printing on Secret Lair these days? Years ago I bought a bunch of Secret Lair and the centering was all jacked up. I opened a return ticket and it took 6+ months to get them replaced since they wouldn't give me a refund (I didn't open the replacements).
They actually sent you a replacement for centering??? Wow! Thats cool! I have had several instances where I had secret lairs that were completely buggered (foiling so cloudy and dark you can not see the art, roller lines from top to bottom on all 4 cards in the SL, etc) and they just said something along the lines of "This is within acceptable quality standards for our prodcuts" when had me laugh so hard when I read it. Good job! Oh and the cards standards are pretty close to the same, I find that the foils don't curl quite as much as they did in the first year or so, but quality control is all over the place and it is very hit and miss still and probably always will be. (Would be awesome if things got better, but I have been around long enough to have abandoned all hope)
@@J_Dubb1 If they're going to print money, can they at least print it right? In the future, if I ever come across Secret Lair I really want, I'll just buy something graded on eBay 😅 I expect foils to curl. I live in the desert and put them in a humidor with a wet paper towel on the side to flatten them out. Then if I don't grade them (hence my pickiness about centering), I put them in a Dragon Shield strongbox. Centering with Dominaria Remastered and Ravnica Remastered were excellent! Got a bunch of PSA 10s no sweat. MH3 has a lot of cards I want to collect and grade, but typical horrible centering I've been seeing in recent years is making it difficult 😔
Classic Wotc move, Producing a set that 90% of people want to have limit sell for lucky 10 people and thousand robots. and Producing garbage gimmicky trash products (Value Booster, Set Jumpstart etc) that nobody ask for, to leave them with the dust in store. Poor Gavin, 1000% sure he want everyone has a chance to get it.
Finally something that isn't available to just any bro with an internet connection. Really loving the direction of wizards for making actual exclusive stuff for us collectors and investors.
