What people don't understand is when you're in the woods, you hear birds singing....some small animals making sounds, but as soon as all that stops like a deadstop, all you hear is the wind hitting through trees, that's a sign of a predator nearby lurking around somewhere.
@denniswiggins3816

I grew up in a rural area. When out in the woods and it goes quiet. Your danger sense goes off. Your senses are heightened and you watch and listen for anything. It is typically either another human, predator, or some animal that is not normally in the area. One time it turned out to be some stray cattle. I was actually relieved when it wasn't a bear or something. Other times it has been wild pigs. The boars are particularly dangerous even to humans.

Literally haven't spoken to one of my sisters in 10 years. Last I heard she had a kid and last she heard about me I was in the hospital with sepsis getting emergency surgery... She never gave a shit or tried getting in touch with me, I wasn't surprised and was relieved she didn't start her shit while I was sick actually. Fast-forward 4 years and after the sepsis I learned I have a progressive systematic autoimmune disease and have pretty severe system failures of other bodily systems and organs and have a feeding tube now thanks to gastric failure and know she will not know or care knew my time comes. Can't really say I'd care too much about her either though after the shit she has done to our family but yeah, makes me really appreciate people like Bob and his amazing love and spirit. The world needs more people like him and less hate and anger. I wish we all could just find more peace.

Dogs, especially smart mature dogs, have an incredible sense of what's around them. I grew up in the sticks, and my dog could hear my dad's car from miles away because he would always know when he was coming home about 3 minutes prior to his arrival. There were plenty of other cars driving in the area so not only did he hear the car from miles away, he could distinguish the engine tones. A good dog is a sentinel, and when I'm feeling creeped out from listening to mr. ballen and I'm alone in the woods, I know that im safe cos I know my little sentinel is with me.

As someone whose spent alot of years hunting and camping the woods. I can say that some nights, and some early mornings, things can feel very off in the woods... not like your being stalked by an animal, but dare I say super natural? Don't get me wrong, most days are fine. But sometimes it feels like there's something watching you. And again, it's not animals or other people. They type of feeling that comes over you and chills you to the bone, makes you feel very uncomfortable.. stay safe out there folks.

I think we are as a human afraid of darkness and open spaces without people in the wilderness. Obviously, we can't see in the night time and we don't have control and it means we are in danger and in the wild uncontrollable to us environment. Usually, in the summer I spend day-time alone in the forest and I have these feelings as if I'm not alone, I look around and see nothing. I think our mind plays with us and it tries to save and to scare us before something really bad happens. Im sure for 100%, the only danger for a human in the forest 1. Another human 2. Animals. True - dont go hiking alone period, regardless of how safe it seems. Also for anyone new to hiking - never go off trail and never go on a trail that you have not researched prior to your hike, especially close to dawn when you are tired and have limited time until darkness. And concerning food and water - always bring more than you need, especially in regions without many springs and lakes.

@lurklingX
@lurklingX 2 года назад
@@ihh619 agreed! animals avoiding the site -- why? unless they are scared crapless of encountering something that came through. maybe it leaves a smell they can detect? or some other thing they can detect? also, being that a lot of these have NO struggle.... makes you wonder, if whatever got them could either freeze them in fear or if it could coerce them to do certain things, like GO DOWN A TRAIL AT NIGHT WITH TEMPS DROPPING, SNOW, ETC. just a thought. (or how a lot of these people had taken off shoes and clothing even in cold af weather).
@whattheshmitty

A common denominator I wish was looked into way more often is the lack of animals or wildlife in the nearby area. So often there are claims that animals will AVOID the area where the person went missing, even with food sitting out. Makes you wonder if there is an undiscovered predator that literally causes all wildlife to avoid it in a certain radius.

Okay joking aside, that’s actually what I’m wondering. Maybe there aren’t many of these creatures but they seem to be the top predator and so animals quickly go away. I’m not even gonna guess to what that predator may be, but we have so many mountains and forests in America that we can’t ever fully explore at once and so we’ll likely never know, imo.

There isn't an ending to these real life happenings. Really wish there were because that means they were found. There are people missing all over the country, actually in every country in the world. EVERY national park in our country have many people missing that went into them and never came out. They wouldn't admit it for the longest time. Yosemite has the most people missing in a national park. There are also cases reported of missing truckers, but their rigs are usually found. Others as well. People go missing usually when they are alone.... or become detached from their group and they are momentarily isolated. Adults, kids, all ages, both sexes, all physical conditions. People with dogs sometimes go missing, too. Some of the dogs are found alive. Sometimes dead, sometimes the person & their dog are never found. Most of the time these people are never found. Or they find their remains a long time later in areas that has been searched multiple times. Sometimes they are found, usually dead, but every once in awhile they are found alive and they usually can't explain what happened to them. This has actually been going on for a LONG time. Cases reported from the 1800's even.... over the decades up to current. Upsetting, to say the very least. Watch "CanAm Missing 411" with David Paulides here on U-Tube for many more cases and reporting on these and other cases.

Before the 2004 tsunami struck Thailand, beach goers remembered seeing the birds leaving the trees and not returning. The chirping stopped. In the aftermath of the tsunami, rescuers didn’t find deceased wild animals. Upon further investigation, they did find them atop the mountains surrounding the beach. They theorized that the birds and other creatures somehow sensed the impending disaster and moved further inland and up into higher trees on the sides of the mountains. They survived. The people below did not. That’s when I first learned it’s very important to be aware of the wildlife around you. If they’re hunkering down and not going about their normal activities and aren’t making noise, then something is wrong. Also, learn to read the sky and the clouds. They can predict bad weather before it strikes. Listen to nature.

We had a bear box suspended, like a hammock, in a tree 8 ft off the ground, the inside container sealed shut, and this bear came around and still tried to get to it. It then decided to come to my tent, MY tent, and start checking out what was inside. ME. Snuffled right up the side to my head. They say animals can smell fear, so I thought I was done for. He left, and right behind him was a Ranger, flashlight in hand, to make sure he/she didn't cause trouble. I'd take a bear, wolf, or mountain lion encounter any day rather than a crazy person.

@@SatanenPerkele no, dogs are pack animals and fiercely loyal the dog in this case was well used to his owner and the conditions and the situation and would eagerly jump at the chance to join the group even if it sensed danger and as somebody pointed out above they can hear, smell and therefore sense things beyond human abilities and senses that is 100% fact hence the reason we still use dogs today to recover, rescue, detect and guard. The fact the dog wasn't willing to join and was visibly scared is very unusual, i can only think it smelt and / or could hear something that made it behave that way, a behaviour that despite what you seem to think goes against the dogs nature to run with the pack and be helpful, loyal and protective over its owner and the group and instead cower away on its own, its very unusual. Whatever it was it terrified the dog and from the other stories we heard seemed to scare any animal from coming anywhere near these missing people and the kit containing food for weeks even months. I can only assume you don't know much about dogs to have the opinion you gave in your comment which i have to totally disagree with.

Every man i know who has spent a significant amount of time in the woods can say the same. I’ve never seen anything. But I know what a bear sounds like, I know what all manner of dying animals in Alaska sounds like, and this ain’t that. It’s unnatural, and always followed by a feeling of dread and fear. All animals respond to its presence the same. These things are no joke man.

It is completely unique in its decibel level (as loud or louder than a rifle being fired) but prolonged for a length of time that seems illogical. So until you, or anyone else can explain its “natural” origin, it remains an “unnatural” sound.

In most hiking / camp sites in my country, visitors are required to hire a local guide. Not only is it a source of income to the community, but we already have too many incidents of people getting lost in very eerie circumstances, like they think they've only been gone for a couple of hours but was actually being searched for for more than a week already; or people just going round and round in circles in a route that is supposed to be straightforward up or down, no forked roads. I've been separated from my group a lot of times and had experienced every other sound just stopping (as if someone covered my ears or i've entered an empty space), other times i've felt something's hiding in the trees and watching, even in broad daylight. There was a time when i even suddenly turned my head left and SMILED, then upon realizing i was alone in the trail, my buddies were either few meters behind or meters in front of me, there's no one on my left to smile at, really creeped me out. Like what came over me for those few seconds to react like that?! Oh, and if something doesn't feel right, an inkling of some sort from me or my buddies, we cancel/reschedule the trip. No question about it.

I was almost 411'd at the Judge Branch Campsite at the Frozenhead State Park in TN. It was May, 2017. A completely black human form appeared in front of me as I was shaking out my tent. It stayed there for about 10 seconds and then disappeared. I had stumbled back at first as I thought that a bear had snuck up. I tried to grab for my bear spray. By the time I had the spray out, it was gone. For the next hour, I could feel the life draining from me. I could sense that it was still there and I honestly believed that I'd be dead if I remained there in the dark. I didn't know why I felt that way, I just knew that death was real and close. With daylight fading, I tried to pack my gear. I'd pack for a bit and drop to the ground exhausted...over and over again. Finally packed (I should have just run initially, but thinking was getting harder by the minute), I crawled to the nearby trail and I forced my shaking body to stand. Luckily, I was only two miles from my car. I kept looking behind me because I felt like it was following me. With about one hundred yards to go, something punched me from behind. It hit my backpack so hard that I nearly fell. I turned and there was nothing. I could only turn back to the trail and keep moving forward. I crossed a small bridge and reached my car, finally. I stood in the fading light and I remember that between some weird exhaustion and mental fog, I could hardly figure out what to do. I was 200 pounds of gym-trained muscle and I was alone with only weakness and terror. I got the trunk open and barely got my gear in. I noticed then that where I hard strapped my bedroll, tent other things, it was all scrambled and barely hanging there. I fell into the driver's seat panting. Another odd thing was that my GPS would not work. I was new to the area and I had to guess on the way home. Miles away, the GPS finally kicked in. Shaking, I stopped at a drive through in an attempt to get my energy back and got home. It took me a couple of days before I could tell my wife what happened. I actually went back there with my wife for a day trip a few weeks later with her two grown daughters. I needed to confront my fear and perhaps prove that something was there. We told the kids nothing about it. After a few hours of snacks and tea, we started to pack. My wife's younger daughter, who is in the Autistic spectrum started to get fearful and would not say what was bothering her. Later, it was all we could do to keep up with her as she raced back to the car. This was especially surprising as she is quite heavy. I now believe that others that have gone 411 may have had the same sort of encounter with these dark preditors. I later researched the campsite and I found a story concerning hikers finding the same Judge Branch site with expensive abandoned gear and bits of gear on the trail as if someone grabbed their stuff and ran for it. It's been years now. It's 3:47am as I write this. I'm still not feeling safe, even now. Brcarlsen@gmail.com

I have lived in Montana for many years, and have been to Glacier National Park more times then I care to count. And people seemingly vanishing happens a lot. I’ve stumbled across a few abandoned campsites like Patrick’s. Of course there are many theories people here believe. I personally don’t put much stock in anything that’s mere speculation. But I remember a time me and my siblings stumbled across a campsite that was similar to Patrick’s. So me and my siblings had the family dog and were on our way back from a hike when we stumbled across this campsite. Normally we would’ve turned around and left because poking around someone’s campsite is a good way to have a gun pointed at you. But my sister noticed the tent was in bad shape and got it into her head maybe someone needs help and went to check. Meaning me and my brother had to follow her because we weren’t about to leave her behind. So we tentatively poke about the camp and we notice two things. One, this campsite looks like no one has been here in at days. The embers to the fire are cold to the touch but it’s evident the person didn’t leave because all their shit is there. And two, this person had food left out that was untouched. So we decide we should leave in case the person comes back when our dog stiffens and looks to our right, hackles raised, looking ready to attack. And this was a dog who rarely if ever got aggressive. But there was no one or nothing that was approaching us. But this dog is getting more and more agitated . So I follow his line of sight to where a bunch of pine trees were and a football field’s length away from where we were and I immediately got the sense I was being watched and we were NOT welcome there. And I could tell my siblings felt the same way because without saying a word we turned around and left. For the rest of the day the dog was on edge which was very unlike him.

That is an odd observation. There is strong evidence its off world beings some reason collecting people. 411 highlights this idea. Cases are odd and near always little struggle. The stories ive come across often some reason individuals strip down and fold up their clothes. Others clothes are just piled together. As you noted wander off as if something has there attention luring them away. If you dig deep enough you find dense mountain regions near mountains has reasonable ufo activity both foreign and government built.

I noticed that. People walking into danger regardless of the danger. It seems like something knows how to bait people, or distract them into stepping into a trap. Then there's no tracks on the ground, as if it didn't walk. How is it a person is there 1 minute & gone the next with no sign of trouble, scuffle ? What the fuck ? You don't want to mess with that.

I think it was just some sicko in the first story. As much as I’d like to believe there is some supernatural cause, most disappearances are simply because there’s just so many demented psychos in Nth America. He said he took a class to prepare for the hike. He probably told someone from that class about when / where he was hiking and the killer thought, no one will ever know... etc. If I were profiling this killer I would say he was either in one of those classes, or he was a local to the area, and knows the forest in that area very well....he probably frequents the parking lot to the national park and stalks his victims from there. He might of even watched him leave his car to begin his hike. Now I’m against guns in general ...but if I lived in America I think I would feel much safer if I was packing a smith & weston.

I believe there are portals that people stumble into - especially at night. I, along with a friend, saw one on a trail we had hiked hundreds of times before. That portal looked like shimmering water but it did not reach the ground, it was literally a foot above the ground. So, what’s there in daylight is there in the dark. We approached it slowly - first slipping our hands inside the shimmering. Nothing happened and we decided to enter to see what it was. We strode through arm in arm and when fully through it, nothing appeared familiar to us. It was as if we had walked into a totally different trail. We were spooked and tried to turn around and walk back through but it was useless. We could not make it through until we tried it arm in arm as we did when we went through initially. Suddenly we were back on the familiar trail. Turning around to look at the shimmering wall - it was totally gone. We reported what we had experienced to a cousin of mine who was Park Superintendent. We took him and another ranger to the area where we first encountered it. Still gone. They closed the trail to conduct an investigation. The year was 1971. After a number of years went by, and I asked this cousin of mine why he seemed to believe us, and his reply, “your report was but one out of 20 or more reports from other hikers repotting the very same thing.” We never hiked that trail again.

not quite as remote as Glacier Bay National park, but the Tongass National Forest in southeast Alaska is probably the scariest place to go missing that I can think of. The extremely thick brush, the size, and absolutely treacherous terrain is enough to keep most people from going too far off the beaten path, especially when they know they’re not experienced enough. But that forest is the kind of place that is so damn old and untouched, when you’re there by yourself it makes you feel like the forest itself is watching you. It’s the place where you 100% never leave if you get lost.

Also, your dog can sense a LOT more than you, trust your dog. And trust your gut. Trust your goosebumps and trust that "feeling" you get when you know something/someone is wrong/watching you. Listen to nature and listen to your dog.

The fact that, if say there was a grizzly bear out there that had taken Steve, then it would be ludicrous to suggest that a dog would be less safe amongst the company of others than alone in a tent where there is nothing between it and the grizzly, apart from the most thinnest of fabrics that, whereby with one swipe of it's claws, the grizzly would rip the tent open in a heartbeat.. it's time to get rid of the dog in my opinion!

One kid that went missing in the scenario of "he was right here and I turned around and he was gone" was a 4 years old little boy dressed in a light jacket. People searched and searched for the kid over a wide area, wider than what anyone thought it would be possible for a 4 year old to cover. The weather was in the freezing temps overnight. He was "accidentally" found 2 days later by a farmer when he came across the barely conscious little boy in one of his fields many miles away. That episode had a happy ending. Steve was taken out by his new hiking buddies and never actually made it to the mountain at all. The dog and all the extra detail was added just to lower suspicion on the other guys

Steve on a mountain trail: Lasts all of 1 day. Bob traversing every square inch of the mountain: Lasts a whole year. That's a mystery story in itself.

Something or someone must have abducted Steve and left the area altogether. Shows some intelligence with this theory.

Steve had a rain jacket shirt and jeans. No equipment. Im sure he succumbed that night. Honestly how reckless of him to go out alone at night with no equipment. The most plausible theory is that he got lost and lost sense of direction and he died somewhere it would be hard to see his body.

Isn’t it odd that Steve goes missing in a matter of a few hours, never to be seen again! But his brother Bob summits the mountain 150 times, walks 2500 miles and always comes home! How is it possible someone can spend that much time in the woods and nothing ever happens to them?

Probably because Bob doesn't wander into the darkness all by himself with nothing but his own hubris to protect him.

Bob searched the entire mountain for a year, but whatever got Steve didn't get Bob. He searched every inch of the mountain and yet, nothing befell him. Curious. Even hikers and campers who go into these areas armed to the teeth frequently go missing. So taking a .44 Magnum revolver, while highly advisable, isn't enough to guarantee one's safety. Whatever gets these people, gets them even though they're armed.

They had a case in Russia, from back in the 1940s. Eight people went out camping. They never returned and they sent out search party. Found most of them naked and frozen to death. Very bizarre.
