My dad called me Dave and most of my friends Dave for years my names Joel , he was obviously doing a Trig it used to confuse people in the pub when he would introduce me to them 😂 . Rip Dad & you to Trig.
I just want to tell this story. I worked with roger lloyd pack in 1998, on a kids tv show called knight school. It was a medievil comedy show about teaching boys how to be knights. He played a magician and i played frankenstien. We spoke alot about football and both wanted to watch the opening match of the world cup that year, Brazil vs scotland. So we arranged to watch the match in room backstage. We sat together the whole time in full costume and makeup. It was just me and him, and, as i was, like most, such a big only fools fan, and as a young actor at the time, i was 18 years old, i couldnt believe how brilliant and lucky i was go have such a unique experience. It truly was one of the highlights of my career. I always think of it when i see a clip of him and smile to myself. A Lovely well spoken and very intelligent man. A great great actor.
What a nice memory you have of him. When I'm a little down il always come bck to ofah, as my eldest brother got th whole family into it. It brought smiles and great gatherings and laughs to all of us. He loved del boys character...and I know for sure he also had a soft spot for trigger because he would always repeat his lines. Dam I miss them good days and I miss my brother!
what did you ask him about the show - or anything at all? He said Trigger was a blessing and a curse. Obviously such a great character, but people always shouting Dave to him
@@DavidL1986 we didnt speak much about the show, he did tell me how he found out gary mabbut, who was a spurs player, was a massive only fools fan. Roger was a massive spurs fan, so he got in touch with him and got him tickets for the live audience scenes of only fools, and mabbut gave roger free tickets for all spurs home games!! The perks of fame hey?!
I’m from Brazil and there’s a limite on what I can understand, but with subtitles nowadays I can firmly say that’s the best comedy series of all time by miles!!! Love from Brazil 🇧🇷 and thank you 🙏
@@eldante4139 As a massive fan of Rowan Atkinson, Ben Elton, Stephen Fry and Hugh Lorrie; I can honestly say... back adder is crap! It's just public school silliness , which is funny for a while, but gets old very quickly. Red dwarf 1-6 is quality stuff though.
@@mattjames4978 I really enjoy it but everyone likes different comedies. I can understand why you might not enjoy it but it has always been one of my favourites. Series 1-6 of Red Dwarf are the best so I agree with that.
The fact that Trigger actually _waited_ until Rodney parked the 3-wheeled-van and got out only to tell him that he can’t park there, is in itself … hilarious.
Rest in peace Roger Lloyd Pack as Trigger in only fools and horses your comic timing and deadpan delivery of your humour was absolutely brilliant thanks for the laughs
I’ll never forget the time I walked into a pub one night and it was like walking into somebody’s living room. One of, maybe thee, last episode was playing on the tv and the whole place was just sat there watching. Was bizarre but spoke volumes about how loved this programme was!
0:55 "environmental hygienist" Reminds me of someone I know. When people ask him what he does for a living, he says he's an "executive hygiene control officer". He works at the local bus station cleaning toilets.
That sort of thing is rife on LinkedIn - you "handle cumulative high value monetary transactions for a multibillion revenue global catering corporation" i.e. you push buttons on the till at McDonald's. I once heard of a British supermarket wanting "Stock replenishment operatives" i.e. stacking shelves.
@@bwebb90 what's pathetic is people (like you) who seem to think that changing a name has any impact on reality. Cleaning toilets is miserable work, whatever label you put on the people who have to do it.
Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais, who wrote Porridge, Auf Wiedersehen Pet, Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads AND Lovejoy? Ray Galton and Alan Simpson, who wrote Hancock's Half Hour and then created Steptoe and Son? Sullivan was great, but to say he was "way ahead of anyone else" is doing a big disservice to some great writers.
@neilinely we should mourn these fantastic writers, all of them. As far as I'm aware, nowadays there are no equals. We lived in the heyday when they used their skills to provide social commentary and at the same time make us laugh at ourselves.
One of my fav triggers line in peckham spring at the dump, "thought you said this was open 24/7 trig, " yeah but not at night " and the toast to Cassandra and Rodney where you hear "Dave" in the background
As a brit I can say this is one of the top three best ever favourite TV shows for comedy even younger generations appreciate and laugh at this show...brilliant uk comedy gold 👍
Absolute classic. They don’t make comedies like this anymore. Trigger is so doozie but is it just me or would anyone else love to have a friend like that 😂😂, my favourite moment of his is we’re he walked into the mind your head sign at school and uncle Albert says how did you manage that didn’t you see it and trigger says yes but in those days a couldn’t read 😂😂😂 absolutely amazing like!!! Only fools and horses was and still is one of its kind and the death of a few of its actors is really sad but they left there mark on all of us 💯💯💯👍👍👍🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
I once went for dinner with Roger Lloyd-Pack. He was a great guy and a brilliant actor. Nothing like this character obviously. He went to a posh private school and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
Sure don't make comedy like this anymore 🤣🤣🤣🤣 R I P John Sullivan,Roger Lloyd Pack ,Ken Macdonald ,Roy Heather ,Lennard Pearce ,Buster Merryfield and John Challis who made OFAH a success ❤️
Trigger was such a small part in the scheme of only fools but so memorable, even when he didn't have a line to say like when Del fell through the bar it was the reaction of trigger that got the laugh... Brilliantly played by R.L.P.. I👍
Absolutely. When Del went through the bar, it was a fantastic joke, however the bit that made it special was Triggers reaction after he did the full 360 degree turn that put the icing on a pitch perfect moment. Comedy gold
Still funny after all these years good comedy NEVER gets stale , i could watch these comedy duo all day,, so funny , as someone else said rip Rodger,, gone but never forgotten,, and your a comedy genius with your timing with del and roddy.
Honestly, I wish they done a special to dedicate the passing of the guy who played Trigger, him, the Pub guy and Boycie too, but all we can do is imagine, but would love to see them come back for a reunion, we'll what's left so far before they all go as well, so yeah
