The strawberries were really delicious and I ate it plain without any sauce or toppings 😋 I am planning to visit Japan again for an Autumn holiday this year . Dreaming of all the autumn harvest food specialties 🥰

As children we in the UK used to go strawberry picking in the fields ! Bring back baskets of fruit. I don’t know if it’s still done these days. We would eat them while picking and make ourselves sick :)

When I was in Tokyo last Spring , I went on a strawberry farm tour . I remembered eating 42 strawberries and that was after eating a crab buffet lunch 😹

I am visiting Feb 8-23, will any of these treats be in season? I would have thought Japan would be all invested in vertically integrated farming, strawberries year round

There’re some strawberries even in summer, but the taste and the size are totally different. It’s going to be the peak season for strawberries in Feb, so definitely you should go picking strawberries. Unfortunately we don’t have any other fruits like strawberries because the demand is so high. I hope you enjoy it!!

It’s not fruits but if you’re going to eat Tempura, you should try Fukinoto. It tastes amazing, and only we can enjoy during the season. Fukinoto is an edible wild plant that can be harvested in mountains.
