You CANNOT stop the POPE in CK3! 

I've seen it before with a HREmperor becoming Pope after reforming Catholicism so that would be where that's possible I assume.

Reminds me of when I bugged out CK2 and played as the Teutonic Order. The title wasn't inheritable but when I died I just continued playing without losing.

I have been trying to get a duplication of my created character as a recruitable guest again forever it only happened once and it was when I was new, I started over without taking the huge advantage it gave because I didn’t like that he took my name and it gave me a II so I was the 2nd of that name lol

I did this as the Byzantine Empire, where suddenly I became the Patriatch of Orthodoxy. I gave the patriarch some land from a rebel vessel, alongside giving a council position. When he died, I inherited his titles, plus my children inherited the patriarch title. Oddly, the standard clothing wasn't of the patriarch, but the Pope. This playthrough was legendary with one of my characters contracted small pox and bubonic plague at 60 only to survive both with another suriving Great pox. He proceeded to conquer all of Arabia. Unfortunately, his successor lost it all after the catholics launched the biggest crusades+civil wars. The civil wars were won but at the cost of crusade loss. I Unfortunately lost the save following an update on PS5, which erased all my saves.

in all fairness, CK3 probably needs a lot of features for realism, a total byzantine rework to start with, actually implementing the Pentarchy for orthodoxy, church councils, playable republics, theocracies, and military orders, generally more government variety instead of essentially the same authority structure everywhere, not to mention that sort of weird edge case like how the Kings of England were simultaneously vassals of the king of france as duke of Normandy, most of the historical stuff they prob should add would also prob break either game balance or the game in general though. Pope crowning you king could be cool, maybe you could spend 500 piety to create the kingdom title if your head of faith has high opinion of you and this might give extra prestige or they add a legitimacy stat for each title that affects how likely a claimant war is to get support and maybe the Pope gives you double base legitimacy or something

That’ll probably come with an expansion focused on the clergy and it’s relationship with temporal rulers, the Investiture Controversy, antipopes, coronations, etc

​@@panose6542 we will get a legitimacy expansion this year, so lets hope they consider this thing, and also a byzantine rework this year too. Ig they would add the orthodox rework next year with religuous expansion. We will got landless character playable this year, so theocratic and republic might follow. Oh and I hope they follow the mod where they rework christian churches, its split into 4 parts. Orthodox with their council of patriarchs, catholic with their rites, oriental and nestorian popes too. I forgot the name of the mod but its really good because you got all these different kind of churches with their own tenets, I hope they will add "appoint patriarch" or metropolitan too, so if youre a pagan king/empire, then converted to orthodoxy, you can establish a church suited to your people, kind of like rite tenet thing, but you gradually make your church becoming independent without making it another sect, eastern europeans for example, the bulgarians, serbians and russian patriarchate were just a bishop but once they become a kingdom/empire, they becoming more independent, metropolitan at first, autocephalus and then patriarchate. These things also contribute to the politics of the states, look at ukraine, russia and greek church for example, the greek gave autocephaly to the ukrainian even though its a russian metropolitan, making the moscow-constantinople schism

​@@panose6542 oh and I hope that the great schism is coded as an event, we can either prevent or make it earlier. So if you start in 867, the church is united, and the byzantine can expand west to lower the legitimacy of the franks, closing the rift between western and eastern churches because the west are more germanic while the east becoming more greek, by conquering the west we can close the gap, or, the franks can conquer the east. Rome can have their crusade tenet, so if the west are the one to close the gap, they can launch a crusade and every other churches can join, if constantinople become primus inter pares, then no crusade.

sometimes the pope ai just doesnt form an empire title even if it has more than enough land money and kingdom titles

It's possible that the Pope might be hardwired to not form empire titles... though I'm not sure about that...

​@@pieceofschmidtgamerno, they can, I do this once. I started as a norse, move to italy and conquer most of it while staying as a duke, I also gave away my lands and vassal to the pope. If they had enough money and land theu will form a theocratic empire. I did this as an orthodox too since the patriarch also hold kingdom tier tittle. I destroy byzantine, freeing the patriarch from becoming their vassal, gave my land and landed him, then swear fealthy

to get exactly what you want you'll most likely need to learn to mod, but if you select combine both names the game should favor the Welsh titles as the English titles are default. That leaves getting English names and that is where this method fails, but you can still find them they're just shared amongst the Welsh ones. At least this is what my five seconds of research and 0 sleep have told me.
