@@harrisonofcolorado8886 I live in SoCal/Orange County and you really can't get anything decent for less than $500,000, well except maybe a condo. New houses here easily start at $600K and can go into the millions. The house I used to rent in Long Beach sold last year for $600K IN ONE DAY!!! And it was in the hood. Housing is insane!!!!

The 737 has a very high resale value because it can be easily repurposed for second hand operators, compared to the A340, which has no future in passenger nor cargo operations.

Some used 737's have been purchased and sent back to Boeing for some wing strengthening and are being modified for use as Forest Fire Fighting Tankers. Coulson Air is flying 6 of them with good success now.

The first B737-300 in Europe appeared with Jugoslovenski aerotransport - JAT, the national carrier of Yugoslavia (ceased to exist in 1992). As Serbia is the official successor of this country, its national carrier inherited most of those jets and the last two B737-300 (YU-ANI & YU-ANK) operating with Air Serbia, have just been retired, as the longest serving passenger jets of this type in the world (over 35 years of service).

If I were to buy the aircraft, I would have it brought to Boeing field here in Washington state. Then, remodel it so it can be a personal cargo/passenger aircraft. For the remodel, I would make the seating area fit around 50 people. Then for the cargo hold, I would get rid of the flooring that is unused and make sure that at least on normal sized pickup is able to fit. For the use of the plane, I would use it to go to airports in other states and have the ability to transport personal vehicles so I don't have rent a car. Also, so I can move other personal belongings.

$550.000 is a lot for scrap metal. This type is almost out of business so not a big market for secondary panels instruments, but if this plane is good to fly after a huge cleanup, not a full costly checkup if every system is working and safe. If it is good to fly only adding and finding cheap secondary engines. 2 million each makes this plane already cost 8 times more... So instead a pretty affordable plane like the price of a a big house but for most people, fitting engines will do a cost overrun. But it looks it might be a little more modernized with the winglets and potential other things for little regional company.

I would have to build an experimental class much lighter weight turbo prop. float plane out of it. All of the heavy equipment would be sold. Chop the wings and empennage modify the air foils. Simplify the controls. And of course I would haul inventory to my home improvement centers which also supply sports supplies and rec equipment, remotely located near my cargo docks all over the far reaches of the N. American continent.....maybe I should look at military aircraft instead.

Well, first, I would give it a though skin inspection. Part of the reason SWA dumped the -300 was because they completed so many turns older units were starting to experience per-mature metal fatigue.

Sounded interesting, right up to that caveat. Seems like there could be a market for tourism purposing. Not sure of the economics, but starting with a working 737 at half a million could have been a great entre into that market. Ah well, dream big.

Well I would reconfigure it to still be a passenger plane but it will be more comfortable with a decent business class cabin as well as a premium economy. Then I'll fit it with proper engines and equipment and then I'll transport me and my family to wherever it can take us.
