Harstem you should host a viewer tournament EU vs NA with similar mmr players. It might be very entertaining, then you can have more proof to back up your theories.
Hahaha, as a certified platinum zerg, i've felt the last one 😁 you develop just enough macro mechanics to set up a proper amount of bases and then get swept by the very wave of cash you've created, especially in the warm-up games
I’m back! 8 points today! Which was especially satisfying considering that last week I got like 27. I was one off on every guess. This is among my best scores (probably my best where I wasn’t one of the replays). . . . Round 1: D1 (2 Points) - Both players seemed very all-in, which tends to help you climb fast. They actually protected their workers, which isn’t something you see at lower levels. Round 2: G3 (2 Points) - There was an entire several seconds in the early game where the opponent was on 0 APM. Maybe AFK, maybe just waiting on getting minerals or something. They built a lot, but there wasn’t much going on. Round 3: GM (2 Points) - If not GM, it’s got to be Masters. I was waffling between M1 and GM, but figured I wouldn’t play it safe. Round 4: P2 (2 Points) - Very high APM but no macro other fundamentals. I feel this is as much as you can get by brute forcing it.
Hey, I'm the Protoss from R2. And I'm game to play vs one of the players from R4. Also considering to switch to the US Server ;). TBH I rewatched my complete replay and there are a lot of reasons why I'm still where I am.
The NA roast was huuuuuuuuuuuuuge :DDDD Season 4: EU's dethroning? XD You're a content MACHINE, Kevin, loved both of you guys...damn Rank Roulette is so awesome :D Last replay was could've been rigged tbh, you know in terms of playing on purpose like this and knowing it'll be submitted to Rank Roulette. XD Guess we'll never know :D
Damn, I'm feeling highly attacked by the last one. *SPOILER* I was like "Yeah I'm Plat 3 (NA) and I would trash this Terran. I agree Harstem, I wanna say Gold 3, but I don't quite wanna give him gold." Surprised pikachu
thats hilarious and sad that you are no longer sponsored by Bane Boost. I still have a 64 pack in my room. I am very sad about this. Long Live Bane Boost.
Would it be viable to base the scoring around a % rather than an outright score? I feel that some weeks are harder than others, and if both Harstem and the contestant score highly they shouldn't be punished for harder replays? Was thinking an error score? e.g. score = (contestant score - harstem's score)/(harstems score) or something similar?
How is the last game plat 1? Even the Terran floated like 3k rec. I mean, I can't believe you macro so poorly on plat 1- dia 3. The control felt not great as well. But could have been plat 1, if you would have macroed.
@@jamomoritz6763 The key to that money floating is the micro on the drop. When i do that and i return to see my mineral i´m usually floating like 800-1000 cos i forgot to press my CC/Production hotkeys to keep spending while microing. IDK why but with my main race that´s not happening (P) I think it´s because when i stim i feel like i have "a countdown" and the urge to only micro them idk 😅
@@Vendettavic but I felt like the drop itself was slow. If you drop slow like this, I would have expected macro behind it. Like, I can't believe you are doing a slow drop and nothing else. I though plat is like one thing, but what you are doing, you are doing 100 percent. I thought, the biggest issue with dia 3 is the lack of scouting.
@@Vendettavic but no offense. I just think, you can easily be higher ranked without much effort. I personally lose a lot to carriers against toss on 4.3 with Terran. I always get recked, because I don't scout in time. So people probably won't believe this as well, who are a little bit higher, haha. Anyhow, have a great day, Sy.
dont believe NA bullshit, NA standard far more lower than EU, it never reach the same as EU, im a diamond 3 in EU and have account in NA on gold rank, i met a platinum and he played like little noob, far worse than EU server
I'm the Terran player in the 4th game. Never laughed so hard at the roast hahah. I did submit this game knowing I lost and I had a hard time playing. That game I tried dropping as much as possible but couldn't handle the micro/macro. Will take on any EU challenger to redeem NA reputation!
You good this was an obvious plat game to me as a d2 peaking eu zerg. They focused too hard on the float at 5 mins, but low level zergs (including me) floating at 5 mins isnt that weird because if your 4th timing is off by 30 secs and you miss a single inject you float 2k by default. Zerg play was very obviously slightly below dia in eu or in na.
You should start a new show called 'Which region is the best?!' where players from different regions with similar MMR compete against each other, and pro players comment.
That final round was seriously tragic. Big Gabe was absolutely killing it to lose it all to an incredibly baited replay. That one was dirty, haha. I want him back for the end!
How is the 2nd replay gold 2? That is exactly my rank and I know for sure I don't play that good Edit : I went silver 1 as well in last round, but that was so bad. I am actually convinced the ranks of these 2 games were inverted
Because those replays unfortunately are bad ones, or not up to division standards, I doubt they will show us perfect replay living up to division skills
@@Paul-iw9cy maybe you are right, but i myself was stuck in silver league for longtime and i definitly would recognize player based on production/army etc.. like in last game if that terran was playing against silver 1 he woulda lost not sure how he got plat 1 rank
I've never done so poorly. The first 3 players were insane for their rank and the last replay was an absolute joke. No shot that that is a legitimate platinum game. If that's a platinum game in NA I'm hopping on a plane and going pro.
Protoss players are probaly better at macroing during figths because with the warp prism there, they can micro and macro on the same screen. Macroing is part of the fight for toss.
I would genuinely check the mmr of those players in the last match because of the MMR glitch going around getting people stuck in weird leagues. I have coached lower level players and I have never in my life seen the only engage be a 16 minute roach max Vs a 120 supply terran after only mild harass anywhere above gold.
~~Spoiler~~ There is no way that 4th game is Plat 1 MMR. Do you do any profile searching to verify the MMR of the people submitting or do you just take them completely at their word? Also a possibility is they could "be a Platinum" but have like 1k MMR lower but not actually having been removed from their division yet.
We check both players in the replays. It's is a typical Platinum Terran move though. You finally started building workers and also start enjoying micring units. I am Diamond an I still face the very same problem in my games xD
Actually, good point xD When I started SC2, I got coached by some random Masters player (like a friend of a friend of a friend or smth) and when he started to use the good old Tankivacs I was completely amazed by what was possible xD
Damn, that could've been an impressive score. By Heromarine. What a shame. BTW about scores, could someone tell me why in standings tab it ranks people by last guess first and total points second. Shouldn't it be other way around or something?
@@henningbreede6428 well they had a build order and followed it kinda well. The micro was on point by both, the probe pick up was a super high level move. The macro from the protoss isn't great cos the he hadn't the infostructure to spend money. Yeah the terran macro wasn't good at all tho. I'm in d2, players are nowhere near that level either way
I think for the finals, it should be taken into account how far apart Harstem and the guest were in final score. If there are tough games in there, and both - the guest and him - have a way off guesses, having only the total score count feels unfair. E.g. Guest: 11 Harstem: 13. In my eyes the Guest did a better job than with Guest: 9 Harstem: 7. Maybe there is some kind of correction factor to consider this. Total points * 0.9 (if won vs. Harstem) * 0.8 (if Difference Guest's Points - Harstem's Points
Maybe there should be a "relative score" that is taken into account. Gabe got 13, Harstem got 16. Gabe's "relative score" is 13 - 16 = -3. Not bad. Some games are harder to guess than others. This can level the playing field.
Actually the average would have been a WAY worse performance than most picked so far. Also the problem with average is, that is would literally be impossible for you guys to pick GM or even M1/2. Same goes for Bronze leagues.
Holy hell that last one.... I have to say I am terrible at guessing - usually scoring above 15 points on almost every episode... And in this one I guessed Diamond 2 (0 points), Gold 1 (2 points), Master 1 (0 points)... so after the first 3 games I had only 2 points which I couldn't believe how well it went so far... and then I guessed Silver 2 (8 points).... WTF was that game?!!?!
In Harstem vs the world you should take average of community votes, not the most voted guess. For example if 35% would vote for D1, 33% for D2, 32% for D1 community vote should be interpreted as D2, not D1.
The thing about the gold PvP vs the plat TvZ is that in the gold game, both players were pretty passive, but in the plat game, the Terran was being aggressive. Metal league players always look much worse when they're under pressure. The fact that the Terran was able to execute a multi-base drop at all already made me think it was at least plat.
i can totally imagen Harstem in the grocery store, about to pay, as he reaches for his normal wallet. Then suddenly he noticed the annoyed lady behind him. He quickly switches the game strat and goes for his Ekster smart wallet. He ait no pro for no reason. Just sayin
Some games have been clearly GM, so picking anything else makes no sense. MMR wise GM is an enormous league, so it's much easier to guess than any other.
I feel like who goes to the playoffs should not be based on absolute best score, but score relative to Harstem. That way his guesses serve as a sort of "scientific control" for how hard the replays are to guess.
Playoff seeding should be based on how much they win or lose vs Harstem. So here his score would have been -3 and he would have a good seed because he beat Harstem by 3
I guessed plat 3 for the final game. The reason being that no matter how bad the macro is, many lower ranked players might die to the initial push and then the macro faling apart afterwards will not matter.
An interesting way to do the scoring would be how far they are off in comparison to Harstem. That way these replays that both guess off don't penalize the guest as much. So if Harstem is off 4 and the guest is off 3 the guests' score is 1.
Harstem is way to inconsistent in guessing to ever base it of him. We regularly see that in vs the world when we record the reveal segments, where he does not understand last weeks guess and guesses like 6 divisions different on the very same replay. It is a hard game and you have to take so much into account, especially the little things like the timer, or the stats at the bottom to make the best possible guess.
@@hamster_designs Appreciate the reply. It was just an idea that popped into my head because sometimes both Harstem and the guest both guess wrong and in the same direction. Maybe a curve could be developed? Anyway, I don't care either way as I find the show very entertaining. I did have an idea of region v region v region at each league level (bronze, silver, etc.) with a team captain (a sc2 pro from that region) teaching the participant before each match. This would cultivate with the pros playing each other. Whomever wins most gets a region superiority trophy. lol. Could be fun to see how teachable each participant is and what the coach chooses to emphasize in their timed coaching session. But would be a pain to put together I bet.
