straight up. i care about plenty of small creators, but i dont care about this guy. cause i dont know him. and now that i know he made a video whining about not getting the attention he wants, i dont care to know him

I had ADD before they grouped it with adhd, it’s called like inattentive adhd now or something.

I’ll admit, I had this same mindset when I was doing RU-vid as a kid. “Why does no one care about my Zelda let’s plays WAH WAH!” Now I get a ton of small channels in my recommended feed, WHICH IS GREAT! but there’s very few (like maybe 2) that were actually able to engage me enough to want to subscribe.

He is young... he will figure it out. Blaming the viewers is a really bad look. He cares about youtube, that's great but he became bitter for the wrong reasons. His passion needs to be his own content. The rest flows naturally.

The guy is such a baby dude this is insane he is being so entitled and acts like it’s everyone’s fault but him.

I think it would be kind of cool if RU-vid created a new feature for creators, that viewers can opt out of, that would give the ability to maybe twice a year to send hours a mass notification to all of their subscribers and watch them particular video, And this notification will override whatever previous notification settings you have for that channel. That way, if you have a concern of shadow subscribers, you get two chances a year to re-engage them.

So, this guy's content strategy is... acting like a lolcow? ... brilliant.

Totally agree on not caring about small creators as an audience member. If it's from a smaller creator great, but I'm also looking for content that actually entertains me rather the size of the creator. Also- if you want to grow your channel, why would you complain about larger creators and not focus on becoming a larger creator? (Papa Gut fell off though)

I think this guy has some good points, and it’s ok to lament how things are different, yeah you know, it does suck that there’s less personalization options for someones channel, yeah RU-vid is mostly focused on non fiction edutainment. And I’ve seen a lot of smaller creators get burned out because they become number brained, they stop making stuff they like or want to make and try to focus on what does good on the algorithm and it makes them into doomers like this guy. I don’t know what the solution is, if you want to make stuff you want to make, then you just have to accept that it probably won’t do well. There’s compromises to make. They miss old RU-vid but people back then weren’t getting paid, it was all creative output for fun and yet this person is clearly money and number brained

There's just so much content vying for our attention. Half the time im watching a video im also scrolling through other videos. Its harder for new creators to keep peoples attention. I'll click off a fairly interesting video to watch a new Redletter Media episode where they awkwardly mumble in jokes and say random shit because i'm part of that fanbase. It's an uphill battle for sure.
