That local newspaper article says you need a TV licence to use catch-up services LIKE BBC iPlayer. Nope! It's ONLY BBC iPlayer that requires a licence. All the others catch-up services are fine to use without one.
It is still very misleading though - the 'use catch-up services like iplayer'. Well Is it not the case that the 'ONLY' catch-up service that requires a licence is iPlayer ! ?
When I was a young airman in 1965 my sergeant appeared in court, charged with watching tv without a licence, and it was reported in the local rag; consequently he was charged by the service for bringing the RAF into disrepute. As far as I know he was never promoted again. By the way, you don't need inverted commas when using the term journalist; just say presstitute instead!
In respect of the naming and shaming of the guy in the newspaper report, they’ve done that to intimidate others in that area into purchasing a licence.
If he had a broadband connection and smart stick that can be unplug, there is on way to tell what he is watching if he has no ariel or sat dish unless they have X-ray vision or a direct link to god.
BBC hasn't been worth watching since Jeremy Clarkson did his boxing impression. Even then, Top Gear had been the only appealing thing for years and was going downhill with the stupid stunts.
I remember the licencing ads from, I think, the 90s. "Due to the unique way the BBC is funded by you..." Yeah, great... so when can I expect my share of the profits from your sales of Doctor Who and the various other shows? 🤔
I wrote to the bbc to complain about someone on a farming program being funded to go to Australia and NZ to report on their farming practices. This has nothing to do with UK farming in any way, and as far as i could see was a paid holiday for the reporter and film crew. They did reply- to tell me essentially it was none of my business, and that the cost of the trip ( which i requested) was confidential for ‘business competition’ reasons. This was about 5 yrs ago and made me decide to never watch the bbc again and defund them by cancelling my licence payment.
Yes it's the wording on them letters, "You'll need a Licence if you: Watch or stream live content though online services like Amazon Prime Video, ITV Hub, All 4 and RU-vid. It say's Watch whatever live or not.
normaly. when you pay for a service they give you a cost breakdown. this is normal practice, unless you are running a racket (like al capone in the depresion). my gardener adds 1p for fuell for 5mins with the petrol mower, hedge trimmer and strimmer, on a written statment, i really dont need or want that level of breakdown, but they get submited to the tax office. charities also have to give very full breakdowns, which have to be accessable, on line/request, to all doners, but most dont/cant track them so anyone
The situation with hospitals is the same across the country. In my Town of Corby, we don't have a hospital, the nearest is 9 miles away in Kettering. We were a town of about 65,000 and have one of the largest housing developments in the Country. With over 5000 new houses, the town population is now around 70,000 with more coming. There are No plans for a hospital, they were supposed to be redeveloping the old Kettering Hospital but that could take 10 years or more. There is a planning application to put in an expanded diagnostic facility to do MRI scans etc in Corby so we don't have to travel the 9 miles to Kettering or the 25 miles to Northampton but the Labour Town Council are agitating because one or two trees may have to be chopped down to build it at the side of an existing Health facility. Unbelievable. You really couldn't make it up.
Small world, i’m from kettering & couldnt agree more… seems like politicians would rather save 1 or 2 trees over hundreds if lives & make the people of the area have better quality of life and access to health care.
@@xTerminatorAndy In a big city I would think 5 miles is not that far as at least you will have regular bus services. A quick check show the bus from Corby to Kettering Hospital takes either around 40 minutes in the morning/afternoon or 1 hour to 1 hour 22 minutes in the early evening depending when it runs. The bus frequency is once an hour. Busses locally has been known to be cancelled without notice with the shortage of drivers. I missed an appointment because the bus never came - luckily, not an urgent appointment just a flu jab. Would have been worse if it was a scarce appointment to see a doctor which is almost impossible for some people to get.
@@rayro999 fair enough. Yes many many bus lines here go through the hospital. During the day there's like at least 1 every 10 minutes if you count all the different carriers together. It still takes about 30 to 40 minutes during peak times though. But I get your point about service cancellations.
It may be that they won’t tell you the cost of production of MBB, because as we know, they are a dishonest corporation. Or it maybe, they don’t know, due to their incompetence!! Either way, I’ll keep banging the drum to those who will listen!! DEFUND THIS ANTIQUATED TAX TODAY PEOPLE!
I don't have or need a TV license. Surprisingly I'm on holiday in another country where non British people can watch BBC FREE. I have a TV in our hotel room and still not value for money even when it's FREE. They advertise BBC 1 BBC 2 BBC 3 and BBC 4. I'd rather watch paint dry.
So Ginger Spice is moonlighting while hubby, Christian Horner is away playing with his grown up Scalextric set. Has she considered OnlyFans as I hear they would pay more than the BBC? As for "Mrs Brown's Boys" I would put it into all three groups as an example of "How to make the world's worst comedy show"!
I would Take the BBC Refusal to Supply FOI Info on cost of Producing Programs As The BBC ACCEPTING WHO YOU ARE .AND THEY BY REFUSING YOU ACCEPT YOU AS NOT BEING A CUSTOMER. .ITS WHEN THE BBC NOTICE THERES OVER 3 MILLION OF NONE PAYING .ANTI SUPPORTERS AND GROWING .
Yup, this year back dated tv licence cost £4.50 per hour for watching. Information and fake information probably 1:3.5 for the year of 'off line viewing' and replied to where necessary. That was all off-line non-live. Because the RUWCF finishes live before the e.o.m. the licensing authority can so**ing well wait until I decide to watch something live.
*Great to see you, excellent upload, but one suggestion. Get some scuba gear, swim across the river and film the boats from the other bank, just for a change of perspective, it shouldn't be too difficult, or you could cross by rowboat. Just an idea. Many thanks. Yours. Lou Knee.*
I think they are checking to see if you have a license before responding to your FOI requests. Simply put, they're not going to give a (potential) anti-licenser any ammunition at all. Maybe you could get your Brother-in-law to make the FOI requests as he does hold a license? You might have more luck.
Regards to CBB'S tv is it just me but i find the voice used of the puppet dog presenter very pervy. He sounds like old steptoe senior, dirty old man😂. Think they call it Dodge or something similar.
I watch a lot of overseas tv like abc australia through a roku smart stick, I cant believe how many BBC programs there are on abc australia to watch, does the BBC sell them and if so I would like to know how much money they make from programs I help pay for.
Just been reading in a computer magazine that states all new smart TV's there will be a built -in app for live streaming BBC, ITV, CH4 , and CH5. Is this going to be the trap to catch non TV licence claimants ? and will there be away of turning this off with out losing your internet connection ?
Since it is public money and the "celebs" are providing a service to the BBC, surely the BBC have to go through a legal public tendering process to hire them?
The BBC response is complete nonsense and obviously assumes that you know nothing and will do nothing. They're supposed to explain the exemption on which they're relying and they're supposed to apply a public interest test which weighs disclosure against non-disclosure. The fact that it's art etc is neither here nor there. Ask for a review and , if you still get nothing, refer it to the ICO.
But did you know that the posh old man from the tv license ad is the same actor who was attacked in the underground scene in American Werewolf in London?
I think you conflate FOI with subject access request. The latter is so that they release information they held for you, whereas the former is for public data, or data which should be released for public interest.
No , neither do the BBC , ( they do but not in way most think , ) the BBC are responsible for for administering and collecting the licence fee , they pay ALL of the fee to the Government Tax Accounts, Annually the Department of Media , Culture and Sport pay the BBC a gift in kind equivalent to 86% of the licence fee , part of remaining 14% is paid to the Welsh Language channel S4C the rest stays in the Account ,
Is the TV Licence there for broadcast media, surely Art and Literature don't really fall under broadcast media where journalism is a gray area coming under Printed media, Radio and Television. You should file a other requesting clarification on what falls under Liturature, art and Journalism
Question ❓ chilliejoncarne. Having a sky box as it is a receiver of live tv. Even if you just use it for demand and catch up. Do you need a tv licence still
No. the licence isnt based on what equipment you own, its based on what you use it to do. So you can have one if you stick to the rules, but seems pointless to me. Switch to nowtv, better for on-demand, and its cheaper.
Not all programs are made by the BBC. Some Programs on the BBC are made by ch4 ,5,itv. The BBC pay these companies to make programs for them aka Miranda is made by channel 4
hi chill, great work that you do, gave a shuot out,on my vid "out in motor " when out for drive " hoping you get up to 100k and get your plack, which you have earn over last few years, with your great work that you have done on tv licensing will be doing more link to your great channel and work, if ok with you, thanks Inspector C
What im pointing to is Chilli didnt spot it, but said they had put some work in. In other words where it says you need a licence to use catch up services its only Iplayer you cant use. @@mpol701
All types of F.O.I. is for The Government to know everything about your private information and NOT for you to get any info you might request or need back in return. Another Great Con of our time. The Nanny System wins again.
Not related to your video but please could you tell me if watching RU-vid live counts as watching live TV regarding TV licencing. TIA! Loving your work!
Amazon live, RU-vid live etc yes if actual, broadcast media then licence needed if u don't watch any live broadcast then no licence needed, onus is on them to. Prove u have watched something live or bbc iPlayer
Mrs Brown Boys is the only thing I miss on the BBC. Having no licence I can't watch it. Not buying 1 just to watch Mrs Browns Boys though..... It's good but not £159 good lol.
Terrible taste in TV shows then, by the sound of it… Rather spend your money on quality shows… What is it you like about that show anyway? Good is not a word I’d use?
I think you’ve dropped a goolie rebranding this channel. It’s known for bbc stuff. I’m not subbing yet another channel and if you blow your bbc name here and start doing other random stuff I’m un subbing here. Use your other channel for whatever else you’re doing and build that following organically, doing a bait and switch here sucks.
