Another great episode. When I bought my GMT Master II Black in Jan 2019, I looked at 2. One was with Eddie Bloombar, mint condition and the other was with Elliot at Pomerance but slightly older. Both had box and papers BUT Eddie's didn't have the laser etching in the crystal, therefore replacement glass not fitted by Rolex. He thought that was acceptable for a 10 year old watch. I did not and I bought the older example instead. I was also most disappointed that it had not been declared. Know your stuff, knowledge is power! Stay safe out there guys.
Very true James , as you say buy the watch first on condition and originality. Box and papers are a bonus and worth a premium if correct. Lots of so called full sets are nothing more than cobbled together EBay sets of wrong period boxes, wallets etc
Have just returned from Geneva. Visited Patek and Omega Museums whilst there. Well worth a visit if close by. If I had the money I would have a Platinum Day Date.
You get an estimate first and can pick and choose what’s replaced. Generally speaking. Sometimes they can go rogue. If you want full control use a reputable independent watch maker. You tell them exactly what you want.
Exactly, box and papers are great but if you’re buying from a reputable dealer buy what you love regardless if it has items to just gather dust. Thanks for watching. RHW Matt
