Wow... So... I played this game some days ago. And all the while, I felt as if I was part of this world, completely embraced by it, and forgetting my surroundings. And also, since I'm a fan of HR Giger's art (that's how I found out about the game), this game felt like witnessing a live action painting. Absolutely beautiful. When I finished it, I had one of those moments so many people talk about, but that I never experienced, when you just stare at nothing for an hour or so, thinking about what I just finished experiencing. So you can imagine the absolute SHOCK I had when I saw these gamers review the game, like you showed at the beginning. What an absolutely AMAZING video essay! Absolute gem! I saw one other game analysis (in Spanish, my first language) and they talked about how this game is a motherhood metaphor and whatnot, and I disagree, and they're free to interpret it that way, but yours is so spot-on. The point itself is that it doesn't have a definitive answer in the end, like our real world does. Sometimes people invent or come up with myths to explain why we're here and so much more, because it seems like just the mere thought of admitting that we don't know terrifies them. And I love this game's exploration of this concept. I first interpret this game as how capitalism sees people as commodities and how us, disabled folk, are just discarded and not seen as valuable. Just like the fella at the beginning that we have to scoop, there's a part of the game that if we don't, it just follows us around, not knowing what their purpose is anymore. And it broke my heart. But seeing your review opened my eyes to the realm of interpretations these game offers. Thank you. Much love from Latin America!
Quality Content as always. This game was the disappointing product i was prepared for, like all products with endless development. I cannot judge it by the concept art or the "what could have been"
I think that this game should be even $50 just because it not only imitates art but also is as much art as it is possible a game to be. It's not another bullshit game made by *insert a big game studio name here* that is the same thing we've seen for the past 10 years just with a new coat of paint on it. As I conducted from many video essays (because I'm too poor to own a system this game could be played on) it says a lot of things a cosmic horror could say. And also makes me realize that for some reason it is about human condition, how we inflict harm on others, animals and environment while not being exactly sure as to why we do it and at the same time fits into this theme that should be more popular today than ever of "I don't know what and why am I doing this, but I don't even know what's the point of any of this?"
I agree that I think it’s art but it being 50 wouldn’t make sense for the length of it. I think 30 and less as time goes on is fine. We don’t have to value art entirely based on its price lol
My point is that while the game isn’t “fun” by traditional standards. It offered me an atmosphere and feel that is unlike anything I’ve played. I was disturbed, grossed out, and in awe, and sometimes bored! But at least that was interesting to me. Thanks for watching!
