100% agree Carpo! Mental development is a lot like muscle training or endurance training, but development of the mind and perception may take years. Everyone told me philosophy was a waste of my time and effort, but now philosophy is the greatest tool in my tool kit and is the means to which I overcome all challenges in life. Philosophy, learning, and knowing yourself are worth more than gold. It gives you a constant edge and allows you to always move forward and get along with others with ease. People who are insecure who told me to give up philosophy and people who are insecure that tried to control me now know they were wrong. But, I never really cared what they thought of me anyhow.
“We shall not cease from exploration And the end of all our exploring Will be to arrive where we started And know the place for the first time. Through the unknown, remembered gate When the last of earth left to discover Is that which was the beginning; At the source of the longest river The voice of the hidden waterfall And the children in the apple-tree Not known, because not looked for But heard, half-heard, in the stillness Between two waves of the sea. -T.S. Eliot, from “Little Gidding,” Four Quartets
What immediately came to mind when you spoke about the potential for power to corrupt was the movie The Mask. We can observe the differences in how the power of the mask manifested between one character and another when the mask is put on Stanley Ipkis a banker vs Dorian Tyrell a mobster. We can even fog deeper with the idea of the “mask” or persona one wears and even so on the fact that its green which can be tied to the heart chakra. The corruption depends on the purity of one’s heart/intention.
5:30 ... Sooo many complications in All religions... However; We do NOT know enough about 'Hermeticism' to positively agree with you. Pretty good speech though... You're rad. Great vid. #MoreOfThat.
The reason we don't know enough is only because we haven't looked. ;) I mean us in general of course, personally I have delved pretty deep into it and brought more out that helps me understand the world better.
I respected my dad so much that I did things to impress him or make his life more enjoyable. My parents did in certain ways try to get me interested in things, but overall, they didn't pressure me.
My dad left me when i was 5 now he only wants to see my sister because she didnt quit school like i did. I dont wanna see him though. Whats the lession? Be yourself and family doesnt have to be related to you
@@toni6194 That is rough. My Dad inspired me. I wanted to be like him though I couldn't because I was so self-conscious. Later in my life, when I was independent, I communicated with my parents probably through a letter. That if anything happened, they could always live with me. Some time passed and my parents showed up at my door crying. I never seen my dad cry, we hugged. I don't know what to tell you about your father, but he is an important part of your life.
@@carpo719 Boys need fathers. Not exactly as role models but as arbiters of respect and the transference of respect. It's a special palpable moment between father and son. Carpo, you'll experience that moment with your sons.

Reminds me of Bob Dylan's "Well, I try my best; To be just like I am,; But everybody wants you; To be just like them." As for the power. You reminded me of something I once wrote: If you give shamed people even a tiny amount of power over others, abuse is inevitable. Power does not corrupt. Shame corrupts. It's the rotten core from which nothing wholesome can grow. (...)
Now I was going to include that if you're in a relationship you have to bend for each other a bit, but I figured anybody in one would already know that😄
@@Nick-b7b9s I suppose the idea is that we should make each other better, but be patient with one another. A good husband wife team will try to fill in the blanks for each other. As we all have different skills
