Today's video brings us to 3 different houses of worship where we tested our freedom to document on a public sidewalk. Each location was different in how they reacted to our presence with our cameras. The first location we stopped at, I had an opportunity to offer the handout I carry on occasion about public photography. When we made our way to the 2nd location, we had no issues & was extended an invitation inside to worship with them. We declined to offer as we still had another place to document outside of. When we arrived at the 3rd location, our presence was noticed through the windows. We were met by a few different individuals from the church, including the bishop who wanted to know if we lived in the area. Eventually police were summoned to the 3rd location we were recording. No contact was made by police in regards to speaking to us. It was a quick visit for police & they left without further incident.

Not discounting your comment about the Bishop; Mormon is a book. The assembly here is the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints. As I am no longer a member as it doesn't coordinate with bible teachings, they shouldn't have approached anyone on the sidewalk with questions other than invitations to service.

@@ipman4715 Sure, perhaps clunky isn't the right word, English isn't my first language, what would be the correct term to describe it? Perhaps "bombastic" would've been better? Or "pompous"? What I mean is, say muslims all of a sudden started to call themselves something similar, let's say "the most sacred worshippers of Allah, Glory to him" and then expected everyone else to call them that too instead of Muslims, I would still keep calling them Muslims. Same thing.

I found the offering of a breath mint from 30 feet away while calling it “candy,” as well as, the countenance of the man’s face while doing so to be particularly “odd.” Did anyone else find this VERY awkward and uncomfortable? It’s quite possible this man communicates to others in these types of “deviant” and cloaked manners for a very specific reason. It made my skin crawl! 🤮

Of course, it’s their young missionaries’ job to do that, but every LDS person is supposed to think of themselves as a missionary, and he was super-quick to volunteer the current missionaries, on their day off of all things. I’m not religious of any persuasion, but I’m aware the LDS routinely take advantage of the poor young out-of-towners who got assigned to that particular ward, using them as free physical labor not related to proselytizing. The Pastor of the Mormon Church was trying to distract the Auditors from possibly digging under the roots of a nearby tree looking for the famous golden plates that Joesph Smith found after the Angel Moroni directed him to that very spot. In both Canada and the USA, there is no basis for preventing anyone - journalist or ordinary citizen - from taking photos on public property. This includes taking photos of anything that a normal person could see from public property. Canada's Charter of Rights and Freedoms lists expression as a fundamental freedom. Photographers are within their rights to take photographs in public places and publish them - including photographs of people - even without asking them first.
