If you want to be successful on your own you dont need a degree. Do i need a degree to have a successful car detailing business, landscaper, food truck, mechanic, restaurant, etc…NO. The problem is, our teachers as a kid and society tells us if we dont get a college degree we will become janitors or plumbers. Well those blue collar jobs can pay more than most teachers, and a lot of corporate jobs. Now you need experience or certifications, but you dont need an “education”.

But it does get old hearing people that own s business talk about it being hard work because mistakes of the time it’s just a headache not necessarily hard work. The employees are the ones that do the hard work day in and day out not the business owner. The owner just has the headache off the employees and customers to deal with. You don’t see many hvac or electrical contractors actually on job sites doing the physical part of the job. Unless they are just starting out or a very small business with not alot if customers or clients. I know they are out there but like i said a man starts a business hets some clients and then hires people to do the actual work.

My father did aswell, except low 7 figures per year, and he also retired at age 36 by purchasing real estate with his savings and just collecting rent from all the properties ever since then. I can hardly remember the days of any of my parents “working” for a living, as they had children in their early/mid 20s, and retired by mid 30s. They both came out of high school with no money. People curious what business, he started moving Mobile Homes (single and double wides), building the pads in trailer parks to put them on, tearing down the old trailers, etc. none of which required any degree or education at all. And after the 2nd year he didn’t really “work” much, but hired people to and coordinated it. Even now, no degree is required, but you may need someone with a CDL or Class A license depending on your location as a driver to move the mobile homes, he didn’t when he did it in early 2000s, but I believe you need at least one person with a CDL now.

Most Doctors and nurses are technicians. No offence, but much of what they do is learned on the job. A book smart nurse is not necessarily a great floor nurse.

These businesses give you the absolute lowest wage they can get away with and not get locked up in jail. And they only pay the managers a few dollars more to work longer hours, often without pay (you've hit the big-time now, you're on salary!), and take on much more work and responsibility. And most places won't promote managers from within, they hire them from outside instead of rewarding long-time loyal employees, who often have to train their new boss and teach them how to do the job. And if you can squeeze a raise out of your boss/company, it will be very, very rare, and incredibly tiny. 25 cents is very common. Eventually they'll tell you they simply can't afford to give you any more... As they drive off in their expensive car to their expansive house to pickup their extravagant boat. I say if they can't run their business and pay a truly livable wage, then they should give it up and find a new career because their business model sucks. What's really insane is that you understand this is the reality and I'll assume you weren't born here, yet most Americans only realize this after years and years of getting the shaft.

I'm a Project Manager, aka PM. It can be very demanding but it's also rewarding, fast-paced, interesting, and dynamic. It's constantly changing and you'll encounter new challenges each day, new fires to put out, new clients to work with, new things to learn, and many new opportunities. PM is a job that will never go away, well, not until our robot masters take over just about every other job out there.

I am an older person trying to get back into working after stopping to care for family. It has been daunting to find a job despite there being so many jobs out there. I had to take up a minimum wage job to pay my bills. I went from making 6 figures to that. It is sad. I advise everyone younger to save money. If you are out of a job in your 50s and 60s before retirement, chances are small you'll find something making what you are used to making. Companies do prefer younger workers.
