Thank you for this and all the info you give. I was excited to find out that Atlas Stationers is in Chicago. We took a trip to Chicago for my birthday a few days ago from MI where I live and one of our stops HAD to be Atlas. I was like a kid at a candy store. I was able to get some of the things you have recommended and then some. Thinking of going back for their sidewalk sale. THIS IS ALL YOUR FAUL MARK!!! LOL 🤣 Again, thanks for all your great knowledge. 😀
I work three blocks from Atlas. It’s my lunch hour hangout. I have spent a fortune there. Maybe I don’t NEED a fountain pen, but I definitely want a few!
This video is so helpful, thank you so much! 🙂. The Kakimori has got my attention. I’m not interested in writing with a fountain pen on a regular basis, so these dip pens are perfect for my casual, artistic needs.
Excellent options. I did something similar to refilling your fine liners, with my Sheaffer VFM Rollerball pen. I removed the back cap and put a few drops of fountain pen ink into the resevoir inside.
@@markyourpages yeah, I put a little too much in so it did leak a little for a short time. It actually worked better than a new refill. I only filled it with Platinum Mixable Black, nothing special, but it actually still works fine.
Glass nibs are highly variable so people shopping for those just know the quality and size of the nib you get might not be exactly what you expected. It's a less precise medium than the other types of dip pens made of solid materials (steel, brass, etc). I am a devoted fountain pen user but I keep a lot of dip pens on hand and actually will write letters with them if I want to really try a new ink but I don't want to fill a pen right away. The Kokuro pens are really fun, and you really do need to the feed to really use those. I love that the nib turns inside the handle and I can throw one or two into my purse, along with an ink sample vial, for a pen meet up or wherever I am going. My favorite glass nib comes from Visconti and was part of the Art of Writing sets they did decades ago. I bought three sets just to get the dip pen. ;-) So versatile, easy to use, easy to clean . . . definitely keep some on hand.
I’m loving my Kakuna, currently loaded up with the green ink from the A&O spring sub box - gonna try writing with it regularly in my bullet journal in August. I think I’m more excited about the inks than the pens themselves but I do find filling the pens very satisfying, and I do love writing with them. I would love to try a glass dip pen - really surprised by how much ink they seem to hold.
