Stuff needed: Deep Socket 8mm 7mm Hardtop mounting kit (from ECU contains everything you need) First, set the car to convertible mode (with the top down), then you take out the two screws holding in the trim piece with the deep socket 8mm, then, set the convertible top to open halfway to access the next step, then you unscrew the three bolts (with the 7mm) on top holding the trim piece, then you install the hardtop mounting kit as instructed enjoy your new hardtop
I was able to buy a very nice m3 vert a couple of weeks ago and found a matching silver grey hardtop about an hour from my house. Bought the hardtop installation kit from ECS tuning and installed using this video. Worked perfectly. Thank god for youtube and helpful contributors like ProjectBMW. Start to finish, this took me about 2 hours with interruptions. One thing I'll add...you'll know it worked if the back dome lights go on and off as they should when opening and closing doors. Great video, earned another subscriber...
Off to buy one on Tuesday. Glad I watched this as now I have to hope that a previous owner had a hardtop fitted at some point and left the mounting anchors in, because if not I'm going to have to take a couple rolls of duct tape with me ! 😅😂😂😂
Must be a European thing but both my E46 cabrio’s had these fitted as standard so just had to remove the pin location covers each side and fit the hardtop! 5 minute job...,
@@itachi7098 I found both mine via ebay one in Dover and the other in South London, I still have an old wind-deflector for a E46, it’s been a little abused through age and ware/tape but can still do its thing - highly recommend you get one for the back of your Cabrio for the summer months!
I could use some help. I have a hard top for my BMW that I'm selling. Interested buyers would also like the mounting hardware so I took out the mounting hardware and as soon as I unplug the left side the soft top no longer works (opens or closes). I plug back in the left side mounting plug and it works fine again. Any ideas why this is happening and any work around? Thanks in advance
Great video thinking about getting this for my m3! Do you know if hardtop is a m3 specific version? or does the e46 hard top work as well? I've been seeing a lot of listings with the normal e46 hardtop 😂
Great video, you convinced me not to sell my 330ci Vert. Do you know where to purchase this hard top? Ive been on Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace...no luck
@@bellaollie2037 Thanks for the support! I wasn't sure if I was overpaying or not but I ended up paying $950. I've seen them for a few hundred cheaper but this was the color I needed and re painting hardtop the color you need will cost $$.
You'll probably need to buy an entire car, that's what I did for my e30 convertible hardtop. Sell the car after with no hardtop to re-coop 95% of the money spent 👍.
@@jamesthebond0072what’s the link to find these I’ve been searching for a long time. I’m willing to pay the price and just need a link or a website name.
Greetings Hey did you have any short circuit issues or anything electrical related issues after installing the convertible kit? I installed the BMW hard top convertible kit from ECS Tunning now my Navigation system is acting up keeps open wirring and the rear lights on the hardtop are on all the time did I mess something up or do I need to program my car to accept the hardtop??? please help.
Strange, no programming is required. If I was you, I’d disconnect the hardtop pin kit you just purchased from ECS and see if your navigation starts working again. Actually the navigation shouldn’t be related at all with the hardtop at all. Best of luck!!
Yes, you do need 2 people unfortunately. I don’t know the exact weight, but very manageable to maneuver with two people. It takes about 2min to remove the top, very easy no tools needed.
The E46 M3 coupe is more expensive than a convertible, the manual transmission is much more expensive than a SMG transmission , you can get a E46 M3 convertible with SMG transmission for less than $15k but for a coupe with manual transmission is around $30k depending on the mileage
