my favourite bit is at 0:16 , as the implication is that bart sees the dud, recognizes the cursed power that lurks within the image, and shuts the door in an attempt to hide it from the world. He is too late however, as the dud has already possessed him, and the unknowable pits of darkness the infection will cause is inevitable to come to fruition.
i think they would do it just as a meme, pretty much testing the waters on humanity's trust in extraterrestrials though the sharing of an alien meme appropriating human culture.

This meme is usually funny, but when this song plays it's extremely eerie and creepy almost as if everyone is getting infected by this picture of a geek and eventually turning everyone into brainwashed individuals, I don't know just something kinda like that.

In my headcannon, this tells a story about an eldrich horror image spreading through the world whenever someone looks at it, they instantly loose their sanity and make that face. For us as 3rd dimensional beings we can see the image without any repercussions and thats what it looks like to us.

this for some reason scares me, the weird mix of the calm music, the singular repeating millhouse image, and that homer expression being put on everyone who sees it, it just makes me feel uncomfortable, like that this is a sign that something is coming, a sign that something is gonna invade our world, and that whatever is going to invade us looks like that millhouse image, or homer.
This always struck me as some kind of strange infection. Like this image just comes out of nowhere at any time and if you so much as look at it for a second, you are assimilated into it's influence.

The complete silence from the clips, the muffled droning of an already very unsettling track, the background ambience that sounds almost recognizable but not quite, like a thunderstorm? Thats my favorite running gag from the whole series, its genius how every character who witnesses "The Dud" gets transmogrified into a copy of Homer Simpson. Creeped me out and gave me nightmares everytime it happened as a kid
I used to see patterns like this in my dreams often; like everything being normal but then a familiar, reoccurring character or visual is noticed, and then the dream has taken an uncanny or downright scary turn. The feeling I get from this video take me back to those times. This scares me
