Hah! 'Butter' landings... I remember flying as a passenger starting when I was 7 years old. Just prior to landing, the engines would go all quiet and for a brief few seconds, there would be almost complete silence. Then BOOM BADUM BADOOM the landing gear hit the tarmac and then the reverse thrusters kicked in. Rather exciting. It wasn't till I learned about American Airlines decades later that there's also another way to land a passenger plane.

I could care less about 'butter' landings. Unless in the case of a 'no flaps landing' experiment, which turned out to be a success. Can't risk a bounce when touching down at about 220 knots.
