*_DEPRESSION HAS NO POWER OVER ME!_* I own this movie & *_THIS_* particular scene is what awakened me to the solution for my major depression. That was almost 15yrs ago.
ZainR Yeah, it amazed me when I realized that the major depression I had suffered from for years was actually just a mental construct that -- had no power over me, my actions or lack of actions, my feelings of self-worth & self-esteem, all of it. @116180747872383933844 Not just at school, I was physically beaten by my mother & psychologically abuse by her almost on a daily basis. She would call me _"a piece of shit", "dumb shit", "royal fuck up", etc., etc._ It started after my father left her until I was about 6yrs old. We have both healed since then & she is eternally regretful & has asked me for forgiveness. Although her & I are okay now, there is little I can do about my childhood bullies that tormented me daily growing up. Suffering from mild bi-polar ("manic-depressiveness", as my doctor use to call it when I was a kid). And trust me, I was no saint. I was a difficult kid to deal with. Although I never actually attempted suicide, & plotted it out in detail at least a half a dozen times when I became a teenager.

I think she has come to realize it's her soul on the line in this moment. She made it in time so technically Toby is saved. Also he didn't Steal the baby, she handed him over of her own free will. (Which also doesn't matter because he wasn't "hers" to hand over to begin with) the line "give me the child" at the start signifies Toby is rescued
Another movie I loved, and still do, growing up. WOW! We 80's kids were really spoilt with such deep movies - if you don't get what I mean then maybe you never will. That moment, YOU have no POWER over ME, hit me profoundly even before I was a teenager - I can't remember what age. The Leading Lady Actress Second Name (in real life) is Connolly. I pretty much had this movie memorized in middle school. Now at 50 years old I see this scene entirely differently. It was foreshadowing and a warning about our adult years. I see so many toxic people I’ve known in that Goblin King now. You have no power over me.
