In this episode, I am finally reaching Quilotoa, after a long day full of obstacles and challenges (and with wet boots still!). I came to Ecuador for adventure motorcycling, and well, that's what I am getting! To my surprise though.. I have to pay 2 dollars to enter the village Quilotoa.. that's a first!

Just wanted to say a huge thank you Noraly for providing a much needed escape from the world right now. My Dad has been riding motorcycles for 46 years and right now can’t go out due to his health deteriorating. Motorcycles are his escape and your videos are helping him get through these days just by the POV from the bike, adventuring. Thank you again for just living life freely how you want to live and being so kind as to share it with us. I’m sure a lot of other fans feel the same way that your videos provide that escape for them too, I also want to say that the itchy boots fans are amongst some of the most humble and respectful people I’ve came across on the internet, which is honestly such a refreshing thing to see, so thanks to you guys too. Have a great holiday everyone & ride safe out there.

Dear Noraly, while you are, of course, following your dream and enjoying every moment of it (clearly 🙂), you may not realize just how incredibly moving and beautiful your work has become to so many of us. Your aerial shots accompanied by moving music are nothing short of stunning and absolutely breathtaking. We are on the edge of our seats in hair raising moments, elated in the more freely flowing sections and just stunned and mesmerized by the scenery! NONE of this could be possible without your hard word, dedication, and the thrill and joy you experience - which we live vicariously through you! The entire viewing planet is benefitting from your adventures and we are all better for it in each of our own unique ways! THANK YOU!!!!

Noraly, especially in high mtns, and these kinds of "roads", you REALLY should get honda to send you a couple of primary sprockets at least 1 Over, and 1 or 2 tooth under. Will save a LOT of wear and tear on YOUR bike, especially the clutch/chain/ and rear sprocket. Oh, and for those watching the vids, those hills she's climbing are a LOT steeper and more technical than they look on her camera...some of em are hard to walk up, much less ride... I say these things cause I grew up riding in the high Rockies of Colorado, from about 6k ft to over 10k. The igneous rocks there are larger, sharper, and will brutalize both you AND your bike if you didn't take precautions. Since this was quite a bit over a half century ago, and the bikes were all carb'd, you REALLY had to take gearing into account. The BEST solution was to have two concentric rear sprockets on the rear axle, separated by heavy springs (I used old clutch springs) on grade 8 bolts between them so as to maintain separation when using the smaller sprocket. When it came time for the 'rough' stuff, you simply undid the master link on the chain, turned the bolts to draw the two sprockets together, and then adding a short length of chain (which you carried at all times in your tool pouch), you switched the chain onto the larger sprocket, reset the chain tension, making sure the sprocket was aligned with the primary, tightened everything down and Voila'! A 'serious' offroad 'trailbike' was born :). Took about ten minutes with a little practice, made it soooo easy to go from paved roads to seriously rough mountain trails, and then back again, it was ridiculous. Was kindof similar to putting a good 4wd auto into 'low range' :)

@@crabsodyinblue Unfortunately, it seems to me almost all of the current 'ADV' bikes are mostly "poseurs", i.e they talk the talk, but have a helluva time trying to walk the walk. Almost ALL are 1. too damned heavy, 2. gear ratio's in the tranny too closely spread (for road performance mostly), and 3. too many things (electronics especially) that w/o proper 'fail safe' defaults for when the computers go 'south', might end up stranding u out in the middle of nowhere with no way short of satellite phone and a dedicated search team way to get you home. For decades now, I've tried to push the BIG manufactures to "fix" this, alas, mostly in vain:( For instance, in one of my garages sits my Yammie 600XT which is 1. way lighter, 2. has close to 11" front travel, 3. a REAL bash plate, 4. an aircooled single easily capable of sustained 75mph on roads, 5. and enough torque to fly through the dunes like ANY of the wild azz current video pro riders are doing on their factory bikes, AND, this thing was built 40 YEARS AGO!!!!! In fact, if not for the brain dead carb setup, and the "fly me to the moon" kick start, it would STILL be my preferred 'ADV ' bike. However, kick starting a stalled bike in the middle of a river while hung on a rock or two , is NOT my idea of a good time, especially at my age :) I've often thought, that if I ran one of the BIG companies, I'd make it mandatory that all the damned engineers/designers put on a helmet and go out and 'ADV' their own bikes!! I suspect than when they got back from the hospitals, they'd FIX these things:)

@@user-fl9dc9gm8e Thank you for the kind sentiment, but though Ducati once hand built a desmo 900 'all purpose' bike for me to travel europe with, (while I watched by the way:), I would never consider myself a "professional", as in almost ALL THINGS MOTORCYCLE, those guys are simply a different level entirely!

If you are on a steep uphill track and have to stop, sometimes you are off balance and it is difficult to get your foot to the back brake.... if you start to slide down again, hit the kill switch and let the clutch out, it has the same affect and gives you time to collect yourself. I'm sure I'll come across as a terrible mansplainer here, but I do have some adventure riding experience. Going uphill over a loose or difficult surface, standing on the pegs, leaning forward, and keeping up the momentum are critical. It's fairly obvious that you remain seated until you have to put your foot down. Standing on the pegs lowers the bike's center of gravity all the way down to the pegs, as opposed to up near the seat. It helps whenever the going gets rough- going slow, or fast. I can't imagine that I'm the first person to mention this as you have so many subscribers and fans. That you have remained safe through your fantastic journeys is an obvious validation of your technique and bravery. I only venture to say this in the most helpful and humble manner that I can. What a lovely region 😍thank you for taking us there. The next bike will be happy that you put some extra rocks on the way 🤣 In my experience, the middle or the hill-side are often easier. Also it may sound risky, but "momentum is your friend" on those rocky tracks. The slower you hit a rock, the more likely the wheel will get blocked behind. With more speed the front wheel will jump over or slip to a side, but continue roll forward, making it actually easier to keep the handlebar steady.

You're killing it with the drome. Armenia: "I'm so scare of flying the drone." Look at you now. A total PRO. Thanks for the front view on your journeys. Nail biting for sure.

I laughed when you successfully navigated the fresh rock fill laid down in the road, then said 'this track is tricky enough without the extra obstacle course things'. That was the cue for the chicken and the pig to run out in front of you. LOL - llamas are not easily impressed, are they? 😄 Those hills, though - oh, my - what beauty!

Hi there Noraly, Love your adventures. You’re doing fantastic. For those steeper parts…momentum is your friend. A little more RPM. Watch out to not burn the clutch. Just a little tip. Your filming is beautiful. Can’t wait for the next one. You GO girl!!!

I believe one tooth off the counter-shaft would really help her. Bike is geared for highway speeds. Needs a little more grunt to be able to stay in 2nd gear.

Definitely good to carry momentum... stopping and sliding back is more difficult. Standing on the pegs also helps to transfer weight around in those tricky bits.

@@Thirsty_Fox While you & I agree on technique...we probably weren't/aren't riding 330lb bikes with a bunch of luggage on it. As she told me, it's easier from my recliner! LOL! She wasn't offended. Just straightened me out! I loved it!

@@gailtaylor1636 Oh I'm certainly not trying to pass judgement. But regardless of bike weight, climbing a loose rocky hill while sitting and allowing the bike to stop... it's certainly more difficult and more dangerous. Whether I'm on my loaded 500 lb bike or my mountain bicycle, the physics are the same 😎 Of course it's always easier said than done!

@@sarahdawson2244 well, I was actually talking about blocking her view while riding especially off-road. But I guess why not, its affecting our view too.😆 I remember putting stuff there while I used to ride and it blocked my view. Reminded me of that.

I want you to know that I'm a subscriber and I love your videos. I've been watching you for a long time now. I've seen your videos where you take courses to improve your riding skills. Also you probably have about as many kilometers on a motorcycle as anyone. However...from a fellow rider to another. One small piece of advise that I hope you will take. When your going uphill, don't stop. That is when you lose momentum. If you see that annoying loose rock. STAND UP ON YOUR PEGS. Speed up a LITTLE bit and power through it. It's what your bike was made for. Alaska can handle it. Trust yourself as a proper rider and know that you have the skills to make it through. I will continue to watch. Thank you.

A great geology report on the size of river boulders and what it takes to move them! Beautiful drone footage of the terrain too! Remember remote areas of central and south America are dangerous to outsiders. That rocky area by the huts, there was another motorcycle, can you imagine he does this everyday. Its really bad when you also become the highway road crew moving rocks, ha! Back roads here are a bummer! Boy llama's seem to own the road, I assume that's what the two dollars was for " llama road maintenance " - lol. Stay safe

I'm hoping there is a gang behind Noraly on her website, etc. that is supporting her trips, inclusive of this type of info, setting routes up, and keeping her safe too, really. I'm also waiting for her to cross my part of the northwest and see what travels she chooses in this area, on her way up to Alaska.
