I'm a Spanish girl and I can confirm the emotional outbursts are true, for men and women. I've noticed that we also tend to change our mood very quickly, go from tears to laughter in a second. I can see how confusing it can be for a non-Spaniard.

As a Spanish man living in Britain, I really miss the ya veremos attitude. Here you’ve got to arrange to meet someone three weeks upfront. It’s utterly ridiculous, I can be dead in three weeks.

For the non-Spanish speakers, be prepared for compliments that you will consider offensive. The Spanish speakers tend to be more blatant but in a good-hearted way. So when a Spanish-speaker calls you my little fat one o mi gordito/a it doesn't have negative connotation.

It's so Spanish to try to translate our own typical phrases that make no sense in English hahaha and the guy getting crazy at the lost keys killed me

5:08 As much as I think that is true, I think it is due to the economic situation here, where youth unemployment is almost at 50% so it's not that common that people over 30 have their own house. Hell, even most people over 30 have to share a flat unless they move with their bf/gf since the wages are quite low and the rents are super high, specially in big cities like Madrid and Barcelona.

It's so weird to me that people eat before 8. I mean fine sometimes you get hungry and you eat at around 7 but I can't think of someone regularly having dinner before 8? Like if you dine at 6 don't you get hungry afterwards? Or do you usually get to bed straight after? I really would like to know the eating habits of different countries. For English speakers, I would say the most difficult to get used to is their idea of gratitude. You kill the fatted calf for them? You'll get one gracias and never hear about it again. As a Spaniard, I have to unfortunately agree, some men have emotional outbursts (although I think it’s not that common anymore, and it’s kinda rare) and it’s true that men (and women) tend to mature later, I know plenty of guys 25-30 who still live with their family (this is very embarrassing to me) but I think it’s because of a few different reasons. 1.- The economy here is awful, and nowadays it’s almost impossible to be independent unless you are willing to sacrifice more than half of your paycheck for a single room in a shared house, in the past, most people married and lived independent by age 20 something. 2.- We tend to be very close to our families, so for them it’s no big deal having us hanging around the house as long as they see that we are studying or working to get a better life 3.- We have a relaxed approach towards life, we value life quality over money, most people are okey having an okey job that is very stable, and live a comfortable life rather than finding a job that is super difficult but pays a lot (another thing that I don’t like about my peers)

Omg. The "ya veremos" ("we'll see" in English) is so accurate. We tend not to plan a lot, just let things flow.

I just disagree in one point: the reason why spanish men do live with parents until later it is different than "maturity". In Spain, families have a daily life together, they have lunch together, go for parties or celebrations together, and many times even work together (family business are really common). Also the members of a family help economically each other. It means that if you lose your job, you can go to live with your parents, grandparents or other relatives, and it is normal. And the main reason is... housing prices in Spain are REALLY HIGH if you compare them to salaries. Very often, to rent a small apartment in a big city may cost the 60% of your salary. So families save money living in bigger houses/apartments and sharing the costs. And this is nor unconfortable for young people because it is quite normal to bring your friends or partners at home, spend nights together and so on, even if your relatives do not know that person. In general spaniards are not shy and they take it easy if a stranger is sitting in the table having breakfast at their home.

We do not mature later in life, that's straight up a lie. We just can't afford a new house with the low salaries and the high house prices in our country. Also we have no problem in living with our family, we save a lot of money by doing that.
