I'm a Spanish girl and I can confirm the emotional outbursts are true, for men and women. I've noticed that we also tend to change our mood very quickly, go from tears to laughter in a second. I can see how confusing it can be for a non-Spaniard.

For the non-Spanish speakers, be prepared for compliments that you will consider offensive. The Spanish speakers tend to be more blatant but in a good-hearted way. So when a Spanish-speaker calls you my little fat one o mi gordito/a it doesn't have negative connotation.
@alexn.2901
@alexn.2901 7 лет назад
The intention might innocent but calling someone a word related to fat (fatty, chubby, etc...) still has a negative connotation since they're mostly used in a derogatory way because society portrays anything outside the beauty standards as bad and ugly.
@Manuello92
@Manuello92 7 лет назад
Yeah, in the English speaking society. Please spare me your PC lecture because the Latino/Spanish cultures are very different from British, U.S. American, Scandinavians where certain words will trigger a person.
@brolin96
@brolin96 7 лет назад
Yeah, I call my sister negrita so do I with a lot of friends and no one gets offended, now try that in an English speaking country... It might be because of racism, I mean, there are racist people in Latam, but most of us are not, so that's why calling "negrit@, gord@, flac@, etc" is a good-hearted thing to us than a racist one.

5:08 As much as I think that is true, I think it is due to the economic situation here, where youth unemployment is almost at 50% so it's not that common that people over 30 have their own house. Hell, even most people over 30 have to share a flat unless they move with their bf/gf since the wages are quite low and the rents are super high, specially in big cities like Madrid and Barcelona.

I can't agree with this one. I come from one of the most undeveloped countries in Europe which is in crisis since 1998 and that is why all the young people are going to study abroad and get a job at the same time despite the fact that we still want to stick with our families. Crisis actually makes you mature, honey. And this is being said by a girl, who is living in Italy, where they have also that "mature late" thing. I had dated Italian and also Spanish man and I am pretty sure that you just have a deep love for you families and you prefer to stay close to them as long as you can. As a Spaniard, I have to unfortunately agree, some men have emotional outbursts (although I think it’s not that common anymore, and it’s kinda rare) and it’s true that men (and women) tend to mature later, I know plenty of guys 25-30 who still live with their family (this is very embarrassing to me) but I think it’s because of a few different reasons. 1.- The economy here is awful, and nowadays it’s almost impossible to be independent unless you are willing to sacrifice more than half of your paycheck for a single room in a shared house, in the past, most people married and lived independent by age 20 something. 2.- We tend to be very close to our families, so for them it’s no big deal having us hanging around the house as long as they see that we are studying or working to get a better life 3.- We have a relaxed approach towards life, we value life quality over money, most people are okey having an okey job that is very stable, and live a comfortable life rather than finding a job that is super difficult but pays a lot (another thing that I don’t like about my peers)

He literally told me to marry him and he wants to move in with me within the first hour of meeting him. That's just him, of course, but so far, I'm not seeing at all the rest of the video in this person. I'll keep an open mind though!

Ojalá (Inch Allah-May it be God's will) is a very Hispanic attitude: I intensely wish so but it's in God's hands, I just can't control it. Both in Spain and in Latin America. Yes we do not plan things a lot thus we are not that stressed when things don't work out. We'll see later-when? well some time ahead ....😊😊

I just disagree in one point: the reason why spanish men do live with parents until later it is different than "maturity". In Spain, families have a daily life together, they have lunch together, go for parties or celebrations together, and many times even work together (family business are really common). Also the members of a family help economically each other. It means that if you lose your job, you can go to live with your parents, grandparents or other relatives, and it is normal. And the main reason is... housing prices in Spain are REALLY HIGH if you compare them to salaries. Very often, to rent a small apartment in a big city may cost the 60% of your salary. So families save money living in bigger houses/apartments and sharing the costs. And this is nor unconfortable for young people because it is quite normal to bring your friends or partners at home, spend nights together and so on, even if your relatives do not know that person. In general spaniards are not shy and they take it easy if a stranger is sitting in the table having breakfast at their home.

Exactly, and a Spanish guy doesn't need to be drunk to approach a girl, like most northern europeans do.
@ChicoCabra
@ChicoCabra 3 года назад
I know Spanish guys that come from well off families who were bought their own places by their parents to live in when they turned 18. The common thread is that these places tend to be walking distance from their parents, and that they visit them to stock up on "tápers" (tupper wares) full of food their mothers make them, cause they can't even fry an egg and tend to take all their dirty laundry to their parents' so they will do it for them. This normally goes on until they get married. So while I agree with you the housing factor definitely affects emancipation, the "mamitis" and lack of maturity in Spanish men can be asserted when they have been given the chance to emancipate and still need everything done for them by their mom's (or mom's "maid"), as in all those guys I know.
@ESPjump
@ESPjump 3 года назад
@@ChicoCabra yes, but women do the same. In Spain nowaday, it is easier to find a young man who can cook than a young woman. It is a pride for many women not to cook, considering it part of the feminist ideas, while for men tjmhis is normal. Also, because of the spanish culture, women are overprotected, and parents agree to pay for some services for their daughters or just give them money, while they are not ready to do it for their sons.
@ChicoCabra
@ChicoCabra 3 года назад
@@ESPjump I thought we were talking about Spanish men. In my experience Spanish women are much more self-sufficient than Spanish men. This is because Spain, just like many other countries, is a sexist society which educates women to be carers. The particularity of Spain is the over-protection of sons, which is probably found in most Mediterranean countries. I'm not sure if you have looked around and reflected enough on this. Or maybe you're too young to have experienced and observed these differences. Think about this: when marriages break up and end in divorce, men tend to break down and become useless and lost, while women in Spain feel liberated and thrive. Why would this be?
@ESPjump
@ESPjump 3 года назад
@@ChicoCabra in Spain, when there are divorces, men have to pay money to their ex-wives and ask if they allow them to see the children. Women in Spain are not educated to care about their family, women in Spain WERE educated to care about their families. Nowaday they do not care about anything. Everyday more and more women pay for workers who clean their homes, they eat more in cafes and restaurants, and so on. Everything changed. And it is ok. But do not say that women are much more independent than men xD, or that in Spain families care more about sons rather than daughters.

We do not mature later in life, that's straight up a lie. We just can't afford a new house with the low salaries and the high house prices in our country. Also we have no problem in living with our family, we save a lot of money by doing that.
