INFJ here. I think. I feel your pain my dear! The main difference being, I chose to major in German at Uni, because I just could NOT get my brain to concentrate on more "practical" (read: marketable) subjects. It was a huge struggle just to slog through the textbooks; my mind would start wandering. So I stuck with what I loved, and yeah, NOT a moneymaker! (That was back in '93. It took me years to finally choose to house- and pet-sit as a career; it's a good fit, but also one I came to by default, after trying lots of other stuff.) Anyway...with jobs I just kinda went where the wind blew me. Lots of retail and office work, some stockroom jobs. Some positions were better than others, but ultimately, I am happiest alone, or with a critter. It took me until age 50 to say, "Nuts to what I 'should' be doing. It ain't working for me. Now I do what I want to do...gol ding it!" This got a bit "rambly", sorry. And it may just have proved that yeah, I AM indeed INFJ. But you guys are our close cousins. Whatever you choose to do with your life...may it bring you joy. It may take a while to find the right job/career, but I have faith you'll figure it out! Sending you ❤ and best wishes from the J side of the continuum!

I have a plan.... To collect as much ideas and just pick one in the moment when it feels like the best choice, but do something absolutely different the next time I need to pick an idea for something to do, not because I hated the first one, but because I want to try something new. (In all seriousness, that's how I pick the things to do in a weekend or my free time. It's also really important to plan 'do nothing important at all' in as a well).

I'm struggling with this right now as I look for a more permanent gig other than writing part time. I think there are jobs out there for us that may work, like park ranger, counselor or creative consultant. No matter what you pick, there could be elements within it that make us feel fulfilled, and certainly some jobs attract more intuitive types than others, at least. Having a community like that is one of the things that life is all about, I argue.

I'm in the time of my life where I try to find my career, but I always come to a dead end stop. It's not that I don't like this one thing, or this one thing (in fact, I find many jobs really interesting), but the reality that when I choose one, I'll have to stay with it always stops me from choosing a career. I'd rather have many different jobs throughout my life, but that's hard right now to prepare for in this day and age, and this environment. I also really recognize what you mean. There are many jobs that I know beforehand will never suit me, and just drain me from any enjoyment in life. Sometimes it's not even the job, but the environment, and the people in it. My last study was great in it's context, but the structure of the study, and the other students didn't fit me so much, that I ended up with a burnout, and no joy for the things I used to love, and I felt so left out and alone for the first time in years.

@@tamanna..369 yes that must be exhausting because when you can't use your dom function you will be blind about yourself. Isn’t that supposed to be how the INTPs functions in life: Learning pedantically the intricacies of a subject of interest, then (or meanwhile) cogitating, criticising, and philosophising regarding said subject, eventually enabling themselves to innovate and remodel topic of interest accordingly. As in isn’t this way of functioning in the nature of the INTP? Does the INFP share this aspect? Or am I wrong about it being a characteristic of the INTP?

I completely agree with the music and song aspect of what you said in this video. As an INFP, I never understood how my family couldn't enjoy the music and feel the abundance of emotions I felt when listening to the music. For them, its a slightly more pleasurable sound. But usually when I listen to music, I don't only imagine, I feel. My heart sometimes beats along with the rhythm of the music. I feel the pulses of the melody flowing through me. I feel intense emotion. Especially when it comes to non English songs. I really enjoy them because sometimes the words don't matter, Its what you feel while listening to the music. The analytical part of my mind is silenced and I can experience to my full potential.

This is one of the most accurate things I have ever seen in my life. I have curious taste in music - I almost never listen to music with any lyrics at all. When I was a kid I didn't understand what pop artists were saying with autotune, so I think I turned off that ability. But I love the swell of violins, the bombastic nature of drums and the flurry of the winds. I find lyrical music rather dull in comparison to the emotional beats in John Williams, in Hans Zimmer, in John Powell. But it's hard to explain why to others, and I'm glad to have found this.

I am a janitor. and while the job itself is a bit boring, i like having a routine that is easy to space out while doing. I work nights and its pretty quiet and I can spend the whole night on autopilot, while either listening to music and thinking, or listen to a good book. It's also a night job, so it plays well with my weird sleep patterns. I also get a sense of satisfaction from completing my task list and knowing that i help keep my space clean and sanitary for our clients. I'm one of a 2 or 3 man team, and though we work the same shift, we work in separate parts of the building, doing our own thing, so it's very self-motivated. I like that if I choose to, i can also deviate from the regular task list to do some weird detail cleaning that otherwise never gets done, just for a change of pace if i want. the thing i don't like about my job is when we're understaffed and i am picking up the slack from day shift and also working a solo shift, while still being expected to complete the work of 2 or 3 people, and not getting any recognition for doing my best to meet those ridiculous expectations. I get very stressed about not being able to complete my task list repeatedly, because i'm over loaded with too much work, because i can see the grime building up, but i just don't have the ability to address it. I don't like when my coworkers don't support or look out for each other, and are lazy. i do NOT like being taken for granted or advantage.

Mysterious. I ventured into the Mystery starting about 20 years ago. It appeared to me from my life's experience at that time that I was likely the most capable to do so. I knew since I was in high school that I had certain qualities--- but could not find the language to express my insights. I grew up in native American territory that went back 11,000 years from what I learned. I had intuitions, and feelings about these places. In the past 20 years I have scratched the surface of 5D. This is where reality mingles with the Mystery. I have evidence that clearly points to 14,000 years: synchronistic mathematical evidence to support experiences I had as a young man. 🌾🌻🐡

I was thinking that you were definitely NOT an INFP yourself. But you nailed it as usual. In regards to jobs and satisfaction, my paid work is leatherwork and my career dream is archaeology. I love leatherwork because of my fascination with the forgotten eras, so leatherwork feels like recreating a little bit of that. And for a similar reason I love archaeology; I'm bringing the past back to the present in a small way.

I was married to INFP for 11 years. Whatever you mentioned in the video is absolutely true about my ex. His music taste was based on how much a music tune can dig out his repressed emotions. He was a saxophone player for more than 20 years, and one day he gave it up because of the politics and the ill culture in the band. He was also taking easy income as an electrician but gave up a job because the routine was killing him. Very intelligent and very charming, but almost impractical for different formats of life. I identify myself as an INFJ. Thank you for the video!!

I've been thinking about how most other people talk of being demystified by analyzing music, art and emotions. But you're right- for me, an INFP, it's become the opposite. As I've gotten older I began enjoying understanding exactly how I am effected by art because I get to witness how something was granted the power to move, grant insight and inspire. I find that being able to explain and have awareness that a process is taking place in concrete terms actually elevates the piece in mind. Now I know how to take it in, how to be affected by it, I can explore the depths of that. Also, being a university student studying music- every time I'm asked what I am doing any of this for or what job I am hoping for I'm like, "You know, whatever other people probably do but also other things (but I don't know what they are yet)"

I’m an INFP. I want to go into music, and just create things that feel good and just enjoy life and live remotely on a hillside in like Denmark and vibe. The concept of money ruins these plans. Otherwise, I want to go into education abroad and live out that dream while traveling and doing whatever I want on the side. No connections to one place, just wandering and enjoying life as much as I can.

I know this is a year late, but money actually frees us to enjoy our passions. Without this form of trade we'd spend 16 hours a day most of the year working fields and caring for animals or hunting animals or food that won't kill us. Money allows us to work for a much shorter amount of time and gain significant free time in return. Moving somewhere where it was cheap to live is the best thing you can do. Changing my view of money as an asset to personal freedom instead of viewing myself as a slave to it fixed all my problems. I have 16 hours a day to do whatever I want and 8 hours a day that supports that 16. I hope you find peace!!!

I too, as an INFP, learnt to suppress expressing intensely felt experiences and emotions - as these troubled my T parents. But then I discovered drawing, listening to music, making up songs and stories , and just gazing at the myriads of colours around me, shades and hues, and was totally enamoured with expressing feelings through art and song- all secretlyI imagined and felt parallel lives but knew I should hide these. At 13y I had an epiphany to change from the science stream to the art stream, but was actively prevented by teachers and parents who were so sure my intellect and science would be my path. Felt crushed. Hid my heart. Excelled at science, and academically, revelled in the saving grace of free expression in English classes. Then scholarships to Uni into medicine, struggled immensely, fulfilled a massively successful career path at a local and national level with heaps of responsibilities, mentoring and supporting others, connecting deeply with patients and families, following my inner spiritual path alongside a massive external role in relieving others’ suffering, and organising and developing services. Com-letting leadership courses along the way I discovered I was INFP who could function as E, T, and J when required. Strange. Then in my mid 60’s became desperately ill, exhausted, my body attacking itself, multiple chronic illness suddenly took form. Retired. Moved to the country. Been living in semi retreat form. Now I am no one, going nowhere, not fulfilling any role or others’ expectations. Although I might appear lost I am simply Being, resting in nature, meditative states, dabbling in art, at times gently connecting with the wildlife, waiting to feel my path to health- or not, maybe too late, - waiting to feel inspiration to create - or not, maybe too late. Such a strange life I’ve led, but when I read or hear about INFP my heart sings.

It seems like our best bet is to chase our passions, take advantage of relevant opportunities, and let things fall into place. As Charles Bukowski says, "Don't try." Not in the sense that we do nothing, but in the sense that we don't force an outcome; we just live our lives. I mean, we're wanderers. We can't find our place in the world without accepting that. For another quote: "Not all who wander are lost." Tolkien has a lot of advice for INFPs, haha! Anyways, have courage, trust yourself, and keep your eyes open (wide as ever). Best of luck!

Alyssa Villa. I appreciate your comment and I agree with you. I have alway interpreted that Charles Bukowski quote differently though. I alway thought he was trying to say you should only do something if you can’t help but do it. As in if you have to force yourself to something then it’s not worth doing. This has always sort of hurt my self esteem as I’ve never really had anything in my life that has inspired such passion in me. I suppose your interpretation is a whole lot more optimistic and it’s given me something to think about.

Know know when you’re not INFP when 0:00 You are a materialist. Everything in the physical world once existed in the metaphysical and the imagination. Knowing this can help you mold the energy. It’s not that we don’t enjoy the material stuff we just know there is something more. 2:50 You have a plan. The plan ties your hands it’s super limiting and removes the elements of the surprise... 4:00 You have an ideal career / job. Truth to be told 8 hours a day stuck in the office makes me feel like I’m in prison. It’s like someone is taking away my time to fulfill their dreams and I’m thinking how many things I could have done in those 8 hours. 5:05 Go out of your comfort zone. If one tells me you can’t get anything good in life if you don’t go out of your comfort zone. We can’t be friends. The thought itself makes me feel anxious. It’s not that we are not open to the new horizons it’s just we need someone to support us. SA:You know you’re not an infp when you write short comments.

Short comment!!! 😁 I write stories about my stories. In the end, I will tie up the loose ends. Example: I posted this about 44 minutes ago on another channel...... I worked in SF for about a decade. I am a high-end cabinetmaker, by trade. Many times I took this street(Grant) just for the experience. South of here we worked on a boutique who sold clothing for short women. It was a high style shop--- they served champagne to customers as they shopped. It was truly a high-class enterprize. The designer and my boss had not thought things through before we installed the cash/wrap casework. The darn thing would not make it through the front door. 😁 My boss left in a huff in his BMW. I came in the truck, so I had nothing left to do but to go back to the shop with my helper. OR.......... I got out my saws and cut that darn thing right down the middle. We got both parts through the door and we used white caulking to fill in the interior sawcuts. The exterior had this lovely accented seam running vertically in the plastic laminate--- but hey!.... who would notice after a few glasses of champagne?!!! 😁 Life is much easier when one listens carefully to the *still, small voice* inside. 🌾👀🐡🌊🏄‍♂️. Surfing the Great Tsunami.

@@callmemiira My first real job out of college--- the one my mother and grandmother could boast about--- was as an inside salesman for a Steel Service Center in the midwest. This was during the steel shortage. I had worked in the warehouse. I was layed off for about 6 months. I thought that Unemployment Benefits would pay my bills until I was called back. I went to California. Six months later I returned to the company to see if they were picking up more business. It was suggested that a college man could apply for the Sales position in the *office!!* 👽 I landed that job because I had previously worked for them. I was chosen over one PhD, a Masters degree, and other experienced salemen. Not sure why? First I got the status report(inventory) in order; then suggested a better way to measure steel weight, which made more profit per ton for the company. About three months later I was the leading saleman for establishing new accounts. 9 months later I was let go. I had made the inquiry whether or not the company would compensate me for Night Courses in Business Management. They thought that might give me reason to leave the company eventually, so they changed course on my future. I went back to college, and two years later headed back to California and SELF EMPLOYMENT. 💗 The Steel Company had one lone tree in the boulevard. 🌿 We have lived now for almost 23 years in our own home in the mountains. But I definitely relate to not having an ideal career and job, I never could figure out what “job” I wanted. This has led me to boldly and what others would say impulsively drop out of college. For example, having a boss and having to ask permission to go to the doctor sucks. Having to get up early every day and be at my office at 8:30 am sucks. But the job itself is really ideal for my temperament.

@@amazingtings8826 I grew up with several languages and besides that, I'm pretty good at learning new languages as long as I like the language. If I hate the language it would be a lost cause. I wasn't always a translator / interpreter, though. I started work life as a computer coder. That was also a great job for me. I loved the problem-solving challenge and found ways of expressing my creativity through coding. I always had bosses who would let me work without supervision. Otherwise I would have been miserable.

This is the best analysis of an INFP, love it. I have been almost obsessed with finding the right career / job my whole working life. How true!! I agree, every corporate environment has been like a torture for me, an INFP, and also a start up. The feeling of repressing who I am. I wish I had started a broadcasting career. I am more suited to self employment but the worry of not finding customers is awful. I think we are just not team players, we prefer working with people as individual people in our own right and our delicate minds can become overwhelmed by the aggressive, alpha behaviour in company structures.

As an INFP, I’d say you have a pretty good grasp on us. Esoteric mysticism, spirituality and just knowing there is something bigger than the reality we are living in is the basis of my life. Also, I’m 42 and have still not settled on a “career”. I have a fine arts degree, a manicuring license, an esthetician’s license, eyelash extension license, worked in professional makeup for years, owned a woman’s clothing store for a few years, worked in the mall, managed a tanning salon, worked as a receptionist, been a personal assistant & organizer, worked as a gardener for a few summers in my 30s, have an online vintage shop, worked estate sales, study & practice mysticism & all types of psychic abilities, worked as a cocktail waitress, made and sold jewelry, handmade personalized children’s toys for a while, did stained glass, dyed, spun & sold my own wool and yarn for a while...you get the picture. You name it, I’ve done it and I wouldn’t have it any other way!! Just the thought of going to a 9-5 office job is Soul Sucking and unbearable to me. I absolutely need the experiential freedom to explore the world in my mind without limitations.

I’m an INFP that was lucky enough to have a family who even though could never fully understand me, never forced me to take any direction I didn’t want. I loved science as a child, especially chemistry and also Mathematics & English . But because I wasn’t a fan of physics I wanted to switch to commerce. I did love doing math and through extension, accounts. Also loved English literature and I used to read all the stories even before the year started and I used to be intensely passionate about the stories which either had a good moral at the end or one that involved something mystic. Now I was kinda sure about pursuing finance in my life and already that was a bit different from the usual science route that was going on in our family throughout generations. Still, nobody pressured me to keep pursuing science so I went on to take commerce in 11th & 12th grade before pursuing BBA in college. The thing is we had a hoard of subjects in college that weren’t really among the actual curriculum of BBA but more like extra knowledge like business communication, law, behavioural science, foreign language, etc. At first, I wasn’t too happy about having 10 different subjects each semester but as time went by, I realised that I actually liked those subjects more than the proper business courses. I did enjoy finance related subjects but somehow came to understand that I liked marketing a little bit more because its an open ended subject and there’s nothing to learn. Just concepts that we need to understand and how we can implement them in a way to people’s psyche that increases awareness. In our third year we had to pick a major and I was conflicted on whether to choose finance or marketing. I knew I’d be better at marketing but I hated the idea of dealing with people which made a career in finance seem better. But the problem with anything in the financial sector is that the job would be routine and structured…which I can’t stand. So yeah, the dilemma was real 🤡 My parents did give me full freedom to choose whichever I thought would be best but ideally they wanted me to choose finance. After weeks of contemplation I finally decided to go with my gut and choose marketing and in hindsight, I can see how that was actually the best decision I ever made. However, none of these were things I was truly and deeply passionate about. I loved them but I knew if I had to do any of these throughout my entire life, I’d become bored and depressed. My real love, since I was a little kid actually, was makeup. I loved seeing people transform themselves into different personas be it for acting in plays or movies. I was always obsessed with colours and how mixing different colours in different proportions would give you a multitude of hues. How different makeup, hair, and clothing could make you an entire different person. Although makeup was always seen as taboo during that time (especially in educational institutions in India) I was never encouraged by my peers and was made fun of or just reprimanded by teachers for wearing a bit of lip gloss or kohl. But when the popularity of YT makeup tutorials was slowly gaining momentum (around 2015), that’s when I discovered my true passion. I randomly came across a makeup tutorial on my home page and watched it for fun because I had just completed my 10th boards examination and had a lot of free time on my hands. I became obsessed with watching tutorials and trying out techniques to the best of my abilities. Slowly I tried to add to my barely competent makeup collection by saving how much ever money I could and/or asking for makeup as a birthday gift or when I made any significant achievement. Since my mom has always been a makeup fanatic, she empathised with my desire and would also let me use her makeup products as well. I knew I wanted to become a creator the moment I realised my passion. It did take me 4 years to actually get started though cuz the anxiety crept in about how people I know would perceive me. Only my close friends knew about this and would motivate me but I kept filming videos on my camera a deleting them because I felt they weren’t good enough. After a lot of thought and ofcourse continued support from my friends, family and my partner at the time, I finally started. And I never looked back. I know this is a really difficult job but the flexibility, the freedom to create, to express- its unparalleled. I started doing YT and Instagram on the side in my second year of college in 2018. Its been 4 years and I can finally say with confidence that I can see this as a full time job. Even opening a business in the future (need more grounded personalities by my side for that ofc 😅) but still, I can change myself into different versions of me which gives me immense pleasure, learn about different cultures and incorporate them in my videos in a respectful way, express my innermost thoughts through the artistic lens- its perfect. But ofcourse every job has its pitfalls like unstable income, lack of motivation, intense competition, keeping people interested all the time, and ofcourse having a connection and building an audience. It is difficult to be present as a leader when you’re constantly doubting your knowledge and skills, going through depressive phases of mild existential crisis and knowing that your way of thinking is too different from others. I can go on and on about this and I honestly never even comment on anyone’s videos but idk why I felt like commenting on this one. I thought it would be a short and sweet comment yet here I am after an hour of contemplating and typing realising that I ended up writing a short essay 🤦‍♀️ But the bottom line is, having a freelance job with an audience + having a marketing background has been a big blessing in my life because without the right time and the right motivation I would have probably gone on to doing some corporate job only to realise wayyy later in my life how deeply unsatisfied I am. And that would have been devastating to me. So I’m extremely grateful to everyone how much ever they have contributed to make me the person I am today. This is also a difficult journey without any promises of the future, but its so worth it. Entertaining and educating people and making their life better be it even for a minute is > than any amount of money or material pleasure ❤️

Hey INFP here. I'm going to start studying mathematics at university this year. Even though I had a lot of things in mind that I could do, I ended up with mathematics. A lot of people think it's very dull and boring (totally understandable considering math at school). But the deeper you get into it, the more you see the true beauty in it. You have to think outside the box and there are so many unsolved issues to solve and discover. Philosophy pushed me into it (we had this day where we could join a lecture for fun and see if we like it. Wanted to go to philosophy. The professor was sick so I just went into a random one. It ended up being a lecture on linear recurrence equations) and I feel in love. Math gives answers and if it doesn't you often can explore why it doesn't. I think it's a kind of safety net I always sought after. It also reassuring that only 10-20% stay in this subject. I can be on my own with my thoughts. So many people change to other subjects like history during the first semesters. Additionally getting employed shouldn't be a problem. I don't know what I exactly want to do after I'm "finished" studying it Even though I enjoy languages, philosophy and the arts, I like to believe that this will be the right path for me. I'm afraid that if I had pursued the arts, I'd lose my passion for it. Or it'd grow dull. I can't let that happen. Well anyway, wish me luck! ✨ And have great day or sleep well. Whatever you do or wherever you are: Be save on your journey and try being a little spontaneous.

INFP Computer Science and Physics major though I was also thinking of doing general engineering a little later on so I could do something cool for a job, someone on quora once suggested INFPs and INTPs make great Pure math theorists because INPs aren't necessarily focused on practical/tangible applications rather than creating something out of what they experience, Math can be quite stimulating to our minds once we get the basics down because there are a lot of patterns to math it's like an unlocking game and we can observe how patterns shift, we can get the theoretical intuition down easier because of our vivid imagination however due to being so dreamy and detached it tells to learn a respectable trade to balance off our fancies and also earns good income o know a lot of INFPs like to go into Psychology but for me incan learn that later or on my own once I have a stable income or even a great income I can have the classes brought to me LOL and pursue art and writing...I got As in creative writing but once again due to income I would not be THAT motivated to follow that through for me especially I CAN NEVER get tired of creating whether it is art or writing or music but if I have to do it for work especially not high paid work or in somewhere people won't pay attention or think is even valuable it helps to be Jack of All trades MASTER OF NONE ☻

I'm an INFP who through experience with many different kinds of people was able to finally come to terms with who I am. I found out that what I love to do the most is not be with a lot of people (particularly large groups), but I also like to be able to be someone people can come to for help. I have decided that I'm either going to get a biology degree or a psychology degree, most likely psychology, and either be a teacher or a therapist. Right now I'm thinking therapist, because I don't have to be with a lot of people but I still get to be someone that other people can trust and come to for help. Imo, a job has to be something meaningful to me. I'd much rather work a job where I feel like I'm making a difference in the world than purely for the better of myself. However, I think with therapy I will be able to not only help people but not worry about not being able to take care of myself which makes me really happy. It also allows me to explore the minds of people who are very different from me which I find to be a nice little hobby. I go by a quote from The Amazing Spider-Man, and that is "If you could do good things for other people, you had a moral obligation to do those things! That's what's at stake here. Not choice." And I strongly believe in this. I think it is also important to note that as a human being I think it is my job to make other people feel like they are UNDERSTOOD, are loved, and have meaning to their lives. Wanting people to understand you is a very selfish wish in my opinion. Through this job, I think I will finally be able to be happy with myself and my place in this world.

I am an INFP-A. I have run my own business teaching gentle yoga in private settings for the last 30 years. I have purposefully avoided working in yoga studios or with other yoga instructors because of low pay and the politics involved. I LOVE what I do because I get to make my own schedule that suits my needs for alone time outside of work, and being available to my family. I love the same-ness of long term clients plus the spontaneous challenges of injuries and aging that my clients inedibly bring. I strive everyday for peace inside my body and mind. Friends who want truthful statements mixed with warmth and laughter turn to me for advice. I love my working weekdays. I get to be the facilitator sunshine and healing in each yoga class and then I get to LEAVE and go do it again elsewhere in the city. I have about 50 students at any given time that I keep track of and know what's going on in their lives. It affords me a feeling of depth and contribution to them without a lot of strings attached. :)

I just found out that I'm an INFP. I always thought it was weird how I couldn't find myself being fixated on a single goal in life. Like, I want to be a LOT of things in the future, and my curiosity makes me want to try them more. But after graduating, I'm being pressured to choose a specific career when I know I have a lot of interests. I just can't choose! I'm just finding out that this is actually normal for INFPs and that actually gives me comfort and relief that I'm not the only one thinking this. XD

I am a teacher now and former sales rep too!! The day I resigned from ny former job was the best day of my life. I hated my job as a sales rep with passion, every single day. It seems monotomous to me. I made the switch, and have been teaching for five years, and I love it. Teaching is truly exciting and with the variety of kids I encounter everyday, it feels like an adventure.

I'm an INFP preschool teacher :) I know that sounds insane but I actually find that it's a great fit for me because I have much more autonomy at my job than I've ever had at other places. Also, there is tons of variety, and creativity to enjoy throughout the day. Of course, there's always about 2 and a half hours for nap as well where we turn off the lights and just chill. It's at this time that I can just let my mind wander and process and recharge for the afternoon. I can't think of a single other job where you get paid to just sit in silence for hours at a time and make sure everyone else is doing the same lol
@sebastianlaakso2729
@sebastianlaakso2729 Год назад
This is so true lmao. I'm a substitute preschool/kindergarten teacher rn, and I'm loving just being there for the kids. Letting them choose what they want to do during the day and letting them be as free as possible without hurting themselves. Children are often very capable and can with some guidance usually accomplish what they set out to do. Since I'm a man I often find that I'm more tolerant of dangerous activities than my often only female colleagues. That's why I, instead of discouraging them, just tell them to be careful and try to be close and catch them if they fall. We should encourage individuality and let kids be kids. The less you hinder them, the quicker they find themselves and the better society becomes. We are there to build their foundation. We should be good role models, safety nets and teach ethics in a simple to understand way. We should foster their interests and further their knowledge by answering any questions that come from the curious minds of our future. I still don't know what I really want to do, or for one of my dreams of a few years how to really achieve it but I'm happy for now. I don't think I could be a normal preschool teacher because it comes with too much personal responsibility and I love just being told what to do. I would be too scared of making mistakes and be constantly contemplating if I did something right or not. It would cause me so much stress that for right now I'm happy leaving that to the people with a steady salary and focusing on the children. They need outside interference in terms of plans from teachers that I wouldn't be able to create for a slew of people. My ideal profession would be either actor/voice actor since giving characters life really fascinates me. Especially voice actors who, based on, most commonly, the animation have to interpret what the characters mind state is at that very moment. The given lines of a certain scene, coupled with that view, would in my eyes be an excellent way to feel connected to someone, even if that someone is fictional. Ultimate closeness.

This may not be true for all INFPs but I’m guessing it may ring true for many...to a lot of other personality types, the idea of having your whole life mapped out may bring a sense of wellbeing, comfort, achievement, security...for me as an INFP it feels limiting, claustrophobic, uninspiring and terrifyingly dull (yes, we’re the kings/queens of paradox as well 😂) I’m not sure whether this is a general INFP thing or if I’m an emotionally underdeveloped INFP who overthinks and obsesses too much ...

I dont know what its like for others but im afraid to be who i am. Im ultra careful. Therefore, in jobs...or life...i am a miserable prisoner. Been neurotic and unhappy my whole life. It has reached new levels after so much painful loss. One thing though, i sometimes have a plan. In fact i feel worse without a plan or structure to my day. I can be rigid with that schedule and dont like anyone throwing me off its track. Occasionaly i test as intj, intp, infj. But i am not those. I am an infp. Turbulent. And absolutely miserable. I enjoy busy work and find I especially like working on producing things alone as I can let my mind wander. I've also allowed others to show me the way to being organized so I am a very organized and efficient person. I don't love customer service. It's probably my least favourite part. And dealing with ignorant management/coworkers. If I didnt have to deal with other people as much, I'd be happy as can be at my job.

I'm still looking for my 'main job', but at the moment I enjoy cleaning work the most. It's the combination of having someone tell me what to do, but figuring out myself how I do it, in which order, and my own pace (this is not time pressured cleaning, it's at the end of the day when everyone goes home). Then comes that it's really straightforward work, I can plan beforehand how I move through a building, it's physical work, and you can have instant result in what you are doing. There are people with who you can chat, but no one bothers you if you keep to yourself and have your music on. Add to that that if gives opportunities to enter a lot of different (interesting and/or beautiful) places I otherwise never would have been able to visit. I've been in government buildings, labs, old mansions, airports, military kitchens, and just your average office building.

I think I’m an infp. The happiest I’ve ever been in my career was when I was an art handler for a fine art handling company. I worked on a crew of 10-15 people and had a different partner or team almost everyday. There was a huge variety of jobs we would be assigned and in all different locations. It was constantly a new challenge, but within a niche field. Sometimes it was purely physical labor, which I also enjoyed. I also got to see a lot of art, good and bad, and I felt happy about actually getting to put my art degrees to use in a way. The one thing that has always been hard for me, no matter what job, is showing up on time in the morning.

I heard this somewhere a while back! "Our rationality is imbedded inside our emotions, and that's all imbedded inside our motivations, and that's all imbedded inside our bodies... So, rationality isn't this free-floating soul that's capable of contemplating the objective world, but something that's deeply imbedded inside of all sorts of other structures on which it's validity is dependent. Your rationality is bounded by the dream."

Oddly enough, I'm (INFP) the skeptical one when having spiritual discussions with my INFJ friends. I have a materialist approach to the universe, which they wholeheartedly reject, believing there has to be something more. Nonetheless you are right about the lack of plan / ideal career. NJs on the other hand are much more likely to know what they want to do and have their future path planned out (which baffles me; how can you know what you want so early in your life?? How you can not feel stressed out by the limitation of having already chosen??). I'm still trying to find out what I want to do in life (22 now, law student -- but I do not like practicing law); the idea of a 9 to 5 in a cubicle sounds absolutely soul-sucking. All that I know is that I want to contribute to making the world a better place and improving living conditions for people -- how is the question :)
