I picked it up yesterday and I tore through Two Talented Bastids. At the start, I was a little iffy, but once you read his account of the night, I was hooked. Great start to the book
Love seeing you love those two novellas so much-glad the king hasn’t lost his touch! As someone who just loved 11/22/63 so much, I’m eager to go through basically everything the man has written
I’m halfway through Rattlesnakes now but so far I agree with you about your top two favorites: 1) Danny Coughlin’s Bad Dream 2) Two Lucky Bastids Got some family over right now and I’m counting the seconds till they leave so that I can continue reading 😅
Pretty much agree with everything you said. This collection was perfect. Still can’t decide of my favourite story was the answer man or danny couglin’s dream.
I think your #1 pick ( same as mine) would be amazing adapted to the big screen. I do prefer books to tv or movies but still, it's so evocative and deeply intriguing.
I finished the audiobook for these stories a few days ago, really liked them a lot! I think my ratings of them are pretty identical to yours! I was curious what you thought about this since you're a King expert to me and glad you liked it! It's always a good sign when stories stand out and you can tell them apart. Ha also I was telling someone on Reddit about Rattlesnakes being a spoiler for Cujo and one random poster who never read the book, only saw Cujo the movie, started going off on me for saying Im spreading mistruths and then called me an idiot lol, glad we agree!
Not quite get the idea of “Laurie”, to me it’s just a routine life with a sudden sad incident. Not as dark as “Willie the weirdo”, which has a creepy sudden ending.
Im struggling to finish firestarter .I started 3 months ago and I lost interest in reading somehow..My goal was to read everything Stephen King ever released .I don't wanna quit it ,but it's so slow.I am at page 120 and nothing really happens
I disagree, but if you’re not enjoying it, put it down for now and come back to it later. He’s written so many books, you’re probably not gonna like all of them. I certainly don’t haha
spoiler Red screen was all right, but it was kind of just a shorter version of another short story. He did called the bad kid. That story was much better.
lol he’s published novellas in the past that are definitely novel lengths lol apt Pupil could have been a novel, and his longest was The Langeloirs haha like a 9 hour audio on its own and over 200 pages. Literally novel length lol
@@BookishDrummer actually Low Men In Yellow Coats was his longest that's considered a novella. But yeah, everything in Four Past Midnight could have been released as a novel but he just put them in a collection for whatever reason. Apt Pupil could have easily been a Bachman book. So could Secret Window Secret Garden. Both screamed in Bachman's voice. But so many of his "novellas" are actually novels that could have been released on their own and I believe would have have stood on their own merits. The way he did it though does work, especially if he wants to release as many stories as possible, the 4 story collections work for that purpose
I’ll say as a female reader…I was a little confused by Red Screen. Like not sure what he was trying to say, if anything at all. Not that authors HAVE to have something to say through their writing but…yeah lol
