I emplore anyone looking for root causation of this madness, to research Hayaks 'constitution of liberty' and understand what Blair really did to Westminster, the country, and the union. In short, Blair undid everything, which has made it so difficult for anyone conservative to overturn. The fact that our current government eats from Blairs hand doesn't help (Cameron had him as an advisor). When I was a lad my state run primary school I attended in London celebrated mayday every year with a maypole, mayday king and queen, and parades with papier-mache dragon heads on sticks that we had made in class. We had bag and egg races. Throwing wet sponges at teachers. It was a great day for the kids. In fact the weather also seemed a lot better back then to. My kids went to the same state primary school some 25 - 30 years later and it didn't celebrate anything for Mayday. Very sad they won't have such happy memories.

Will it survive? Depends. Is it acceptable to the growing, imported, radicalism?

Mayday is apart of our history and culture that goes back to pagan times when it was performed to celebrate the beginning of spring, we must preserve it and pass it onto our children

I followed a "Jack in the Green" round Bristol, with about 100 other people and Morris dancers (👍Pigsty Morris)! I only managed 3 hours, they did it all day. Great fun, visiting the back street pubs, and not a blue-hair in sight - only green face paint! Scoff all you like, Paganism is rooted in us, and in the Islands of Great Britain, it's the foundation of all other religions. Even if these festivals are pseudo-pagan, so what. Bradford on Avon next Saturday!

I'm Australian and my English Mother and I visited Padstow/Cornwall for a few days, several years ago..We were thrilled to watch the Mayday ceremony and enjoyed the celebrations afterwards..The beautiful Cornish people were so friendly and inclusive..People from around the world were welcomed and I'll never forget the great time we all had..They were lovely memories of my gorgeous, funny Mum too..☮️🇦🇺🇬🇧❤️

Some incredible nonesense being spouted in this video. The scaring away of the Spanish/French pirates by the Padstow women and a hobby horse is just a local folklore explanation of the tradition's origins - not based on any evidence. The evidence does point to a typical May Day celebration with an added hobby horse custom that has moved from its usually mid winter date. Earliest reference to the Padstow hobby horse is from 1803. Nobody danced around the maypole to encourage better weather and crops - it was simply a communal dance of celebration and fun. The Padstow hobby horses don't celebrate 'Beltane' which is a 'Celtic' fire festival - they are celebrating May Day. May Day celebrations in the UK dating back to Roman times? Which celebrations would those be? '15th century 'Druid' morris dances originally with painted faces'. Well the 15th century part is correct.
