Happy birthday 🎂 this was a BIG collab, I'll be sure to check out all the channels I haven't seen before 😍 great entries from everyone, great editing 💯🙌 my entry wasn't very good, I misunderstood and thought it was "play at least once" omg 😂 👍 but good times! Thanks for inviting me!
Thanks for having me on Bubbles, loved the way this was edited. You've brought together some really dope creators💫 Hope you have a lovely Birthday also🎉🥳
For me my one and done rpg is Ni No Kuni: wrath of the white witch. Personally I played the game around a time in my life where i lost a parental figure. Oliver losing his mom hit so close to home. The fact that we visit a world filled with magic and the seemingly impossible gives hope that he will be able to bring his mom back. As the story unfolds we learn why it can't be done. The fact that at the journey's end Oliver has to just accept the fact that what happened can't be undone. He has to learn to move forward with his life while having suffered the heaviest of losses at such a young age. The game is full of loss, magic, and whimsy that i feel can't be recaptured on subsequent playthroughs.
Thank you so much for having me on!! Funny story, just the other day someone said, "David, can't you ever just recommend a game without putting another game down?" and I was like, "What are you talking about?" But after seeing this submission, I'm like... Yeah, I see what you mean LOL
great collab bubbz. great picks by all of you i respect all of your opinions and choices. im probably about to ruffle some feathers with my pick but trust me it hurts me to say this a lot more. i think the game that people should only play once is the game that has me in a vice grip and one that has been talked about quite a bit on this channel: octopath traveler 2. As much as i'm loving the game right now, i feel like once the story wraps up and you see everything that's it. Aside from picking a different main character , there really is no reason for a second playthrough. i could be wrong but that's just me.🤷♀
Happy (belated) Birthday!!! Between the PS3 and PS4 versions of Persona 5 Vanilla and then Royal itself, I've not only played through Persona 5 more than once, I've played through it it well into the double digits XD It's not 100 hours every single time you go through it.
Happy birthday 🎉🎂. I’m currently playing persona 3, 4 & 5 😅. I jump to one or the other every now and then. I’m about 40-60hrs in each game so far and I love all of them 🥰.
Great line-up of guests, and always a pleasure to see my buddies John, Paige and David in the mix! Happy Birthday once again Bubbles, hope you had an absolutely wonderful day, and I hope this video does well for you and everyone else involved! 🥳
I beat the Witcher 3. Then when the DLCs came out, I started over and beat it again. And I’ve started a 3rd play through as well. Easily my favorite game of all time and I think it’s worth it to play more than once.
Happy birthday Bubbles! Hope you're having a great day and thank you for a new RPG video! I love the collabs and their recommendations. Will definitely be picking these up. My birthday was this past Friday, I didn't realize our birthdays were so close! That's pretty cool 😊
I was about to comment Witcher 3, saying that you should do one huge and thorough playthrough and that's it. Again, happy birthday and happy birthday to your mom tomorrow :D
Happy Birthday Stephanie. Looking forward to the video. David Vinc and Alex from Backlog Battle also recently had birthdays. Mine was last Monday. Yeah for the Geminis.
Happy birthday miss bubbles !!!! For me is Final Fantasy 15, that game got me in tears. I don’t want to ruin that memory and playing that game may put me in tears again.
8:10 I have not played P5, but I have played 3 and 4. Persona 4 has a few references back to 3 (just cameos of secondary characters) but you can really play them in either order. The big decision on 3 or 4 first is what style you like. Persona 3 is way darker - its thematic tarot is Death - and its story has a lot of thought about the worth of a life. Persona 4 is a supernatural murder mystery done by (essentially) the Scooby Gang and also has a lot of focus on exploring emotions and desires. Its thematic tarot is Star, representing hope.
16:20ish... I played Eastward, then came to a point in the game where I made one single goof that permanently bricked my ability to proceed and rendered me permanently stuck with no possible fix thus forcing my attempt to beat the game permanently defeated. Even sadder, as best as I know, this Game Level Design Fault that caused this has never been fixed. This game was being so fun to play, then broke my heart. I definitely agree with playing it only once, which means i'm never gonna manage to beat it and that game whooped my ass and sent me runnin tail between my legs... in the wrong kinda way... :( To add insult to injury, as of the point up to where'd I played to before I stopped, I had a fav BGM of the game and don't even get to enjoy it with my OST Purchase along with the game cause it was a 3rd Party BGM for its separate-but-integrated-into-the-Main-Game Mini Game. Oh "Determination", you sexy audio love letter to old school RPGs you...
Definitly start with persona 5. It may be longer and have a slow start, BUT it explains everything perfectly for newcomers. I Have played p3 and p4 and they kinda assume you have som knowledge before you play.
@@MissBubbles yeah I’ve started p3R a few months ago and everything goes fast. You have to pay attention to understand the mechanics and what is going on
I don’t play games twice! Is that weird? Lol I just enjoy each game and get beyond addicted to the max. Take my sweet time completing it. I live and breathe the game. And then move on to the next one 😄 Great video! And happy birthday!! 🥰
Happy Bday sweetie. As for an RPG I'd recommend playing once that be 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim. This game is a combo of 2 different types of gameplay. You have the "Story mode" and the "Battle Mode". Battle mode is a real time strategy base game, and it's also Tower defense game. You basically play 13 chars who battle using mechs. Story mode, you focus on each of the chars, and you start out with a certain number of chars and unlock the others through their stories for they all overlap each other, but all 13 chars are connected. It has comedy, mystery, romance, and drama. It is created by Vanillaware. Only reason I recommend playing it once is because this game has so many plot twists that replaying it again might not be worth it after learning the 'truth' of the story. I keep saying I'll pick it back up, but I find myself not feeling the need to. Instead I just try to find other LPs to it to see people's minds get blown haha. I know I am older than most when I've heard about the older obscure games mentioned on this list. I did have a PS2, but ONLY because of Kingdom Hearts lol. I did get other JRPGs on it though, and even a pinball game lol.
Great idea for a collab. My choice for a once and done would be Breath of Fire 3. The best parts of it are unmatched, and the overall experience is good, but it is grindy as heck and the replay value isn't high.
Happy Birthday! Hopefully you have a great rest of your day. I love the Witcher 3, but for me, it's mainly a time thing, so I don't think I could replay anything that long
100% it's tooo long to play it with the DLC the first time, another time is a no go. But also, no second playthrough is capturing me like the first one 😭
Re: Persona 5 Royal, USE A GUIDE! Persona games are some of the only games I feel that guides are a must if you don’t want to have to replay it to get the best ending 😂 Also, Miss Bubbles, definitely give Persona 4 Golden a go! It’s so so good
Haha that callout was for anyone watching, but of course applies here as well. Especially for P4G. Getting the best ending requires a very specific set of answers to some intense questions later in the game and it may just be me, but it’s not obvious. But it’s still one of my favorites. If it means anything to you, I’d say it’s the most “cozy” of the Persona games haha
I feel like Lost Odyssey is a rpg that should only be played once and mainly because of the emotional impact of the story not hitting the same way the second time around. It is an excellent game and maybe i will try and revisit it again someday but for now i am still satisfied with all the memories I had with the game and the story that it told.
Absolutely there is wrong answer where to start the persona series. I started at 5 and halfway through realized I needed to play Royal. Then 150 hours later think I had enough persona. Then I went back and played 4 golden and I don’t think it would have been a bad idea to start with golden. It’s simpler and more streamlined. It might be a good place for bubbles to start if she can commit to 100 hour video game needless to say that all three games are absolutely worth the play through
Nice video, but maybe should clarify the question a little bit better for these people. I like all the RU-vidrs but half didn’t answer the question properly or included games that aren’t RPG’s sheesh haha 🎉great vid though
I'm personally the type to want to revisit games I've enjoyed, so I didn't think there was a good game that I'd only ever play once. Then I remembered Xenoblade Chronicles. That game, for story reasons, has something that disrupts gameplay constantly (or it did for me, ymmv). I know a lot of people have it listed as their favorite in the series, and it is good. But, the gameplay disruptions are enough to make me not want to ever play it again, lol. For Persona order, I'd recommend going 4 Golden, 3 Reload, and 5 Royal. My thoughts on this are that, Persona 4 Golden is a port of a Vita game (a.k.a., it's old), Persona 3 Reload is the oldest with a fresh coat of paint (it's old, but shiny), and Persona 5 Royal is the newest. If you're going to play just one, I'd recommend 5 Royal (because 5 resonated with a lot of people and brought the series to a mainstream audience). Also, happy birthday!!
@@MissBubbles It's a thing that happens in the middle of battle when your allies are within dying range. It disrupts the flow of combat to the point where you end up forgetting your strategy. It's a mechanic that is meant to be helpful, but it's not.
I wouldn't consider it a RPG but Nier Automata is one game that I really love, but have no desire to replay. A lot of the magic of that game would be lost on a second playthrough, and I've already seen 100% of the game.
@@MissBubbles Sort of. When you get "ending A", the game is not really over. Route B and C are different than A so it doesn't feel like replaying the game, and I'd say you haven't truly beaten it until you get ending E. It's not as repetitive or difficult to do as it sounds, but I don't want to spoil anything here.
@MissBubbles oh yeah for sure! I just think it would be nearly impossible to max out the social links with everyone in one go without a guide. It's also very possible to miss the 3rd semester without a guide too since you need to have a certain level social link with some of the characters to unlock it
personally.. if you plan on playing all of the persona games i would suggest starting with the oldest one that you want to play. 5 was my first and i have such a hard time going back tot he other games they just dont hold my attention the way p5 did so i haven't been able to finish p3 or p4 i just think 5 has so many QOL that the other games are missing and makes them a chore to play. even with p3 reload i just am not picking it up the way i was picking up p5.
@@MissBubbles i do think p4 is getting a remake in the vein of p3 reload but im not sure when its supposed to come out. p4 golden is serviceable but its going to feel a little jarring after playing p3 reload lol
I have the witcher 3 for switch and i just got lost somewhere halfway through and havnt been able to get back into it for some reason i just lost interest in it, maybe its because its sooooo long idk. I do love the intense story tho.
Wierdly enough, Witcher 3 is one of the few rpgs (and games in general) I've played more than once. I almost beat for the first time, but with reasons no need to explain I had to move to another ps4, and I've re-played the game again, this time beating it. I had a blast.
I'd probably pick RPGs that have one ending only, and not enough options to provide replayability. Most RPGs are too long, and grindy to be fun doing all over again. I'd imagine all the Assassin's Creed games. I've only played the first one and the second one. They both are linear, and there isn't much in the way of seeing anything new playing them again. Same could be said for Horizon Zero Dawn, and by larger extent Horizon Forbiden West which is even longer. I'd would probably say Hogwarts Legacy. while there are diverging options you can pick between, they aren't significant enough to warrant additional plays imo. The endings too can be chosen at the end of the game so a save before that sequence of events allows to see all endings. Moon is a lengthy kind of game that is basicallly a one and done type. That is unless a person wants to uncover all the secrets with a guide on a second run, to avoid spoilers on a first time run through.
Play Golden first, then reload. Yeah there’s absolutely no way I’m playing persona 5 royal again lmfao One, it’s long af. Two, the characters/social links are bland and kinda boring compared to 3 and 4, and finally there’s two dungeons to go through lmfao. I play these games for the social sim, so when the social sim aspect is meh, and there’s more dungeon gameplay than there is social sim, nah I think I’m good lmfao
Careful now you tread upon Holy Ground when you talk about Assassin's Creed Valhalla to me one of the greatest games ever made I Platinum it and completed all the DLC to 100% And I've replayed it three times
Absolutely loved these! When I saw the list of suggestions already made, my one was in there too - Witcher 3! Some interesting and good suggestions on top of that! Phantasy star online took me back!
