I watched this over a long evening. But that was legitimately my thought when I first saw podcasts in general. Anything that was 30 min or up, my thought was: who wants to listen to anyone talk about 90% of things for anything more than 20 minutes/who has the time to listen to this? Lol. That was 5/6 years ago. Now I lose myself in this timesuck of videos that are 30 mins+. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤢

I think he's funny. He's a funny commentator and academic, but maybe not be a comedian.

Analysis Bear that's kind of the point of the podcast. He just lets his train of thought dictate the path of most of it. Otherwise you're just listening to 100 other interviews with John Mulaney where he answers the same questions.

That is a fair point, but I would say that in any conversation there is give and take. I didnt see that here. If his guests are just props for him to let his train of thought spill, then he would be better off showing clips of other people, or just monologue the whole time. There were several timers where I thought it would have been nice if he let John finish his thought because it appeared John was more of a prop. This style is annoying and will wear thin.

He is sucking up to John with that fake laugh, but is also kind of mean to John. Even if he prefaces an insult or dig acknowledging he is being a jerk, it makes him even more of an a-hole. For example the story about buying the house.

That’s just Pete Holme’s laugh. Unless he’s successfully faked it through over a 1000 episodes of podcasts and tv shows.

@@abcdefg2120 I have seen plenty of Pete and the only thing that makes him hard to watch is the laugh. It may be real in a sense, but he clearly is trying to push it to another level to make it seem like he's having a lot of fun, which does almost the opposite by making him seem sarcastic in a way. It's just an odd choice, but he is doing great so it doesn't really matter
