I recommend adding Immobilizer star destroyers to your fleet and use their gravity well generator ability to prevent your enemies from escaping into hyperspace. You can also use the other ability I forgot the name of to deflect missiles.
Oh still have this game somewhere lying around. It was funny to later just jump in with so many ships that the enemy dosent matter at all. Or just jump in with a death star and waiting for the timer
