Infrared and near-infrared light improve mitochondrial function. Having the wavelengths penetrate the tissue helps more cells improve mitochondria. Mitochondria power the cells. Apparently, this doctor doesn't know that -- or chooses to ignore it.

Where is the science behind this claim?
@CCoburn3
@CCoburn3 6 месяцев назад
@@thomasrebotier1741 Too freaking LAZY to perform a 3-second internet search? Well, here are some studies and their conclusions: Here's something from a study on the National Institute of Health website (the US government): Long-wave or red light (650-800nm) affects mitochondrial complex IV or cytochrome oxidase to increase the rate of formation of ATP and ROS causing the generation of a number of beneficial factors. (pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/27890822/#:~:text=Long%2Dwave%20or%20red%20light,a%20number%20of%20beneficial%20factors.) Another study on the NIH website says: Although the underlying mechanisms have not yet been clearly elucidated, mitochondrial photostimulation has been shown to increase ATP production and cause transient increases in reactive oxygen species (ROS). In some cells, this process appears to participate in reduction/oxidation (redox) signaling. Redox mechanisms are known to be involved in cellular homeostasis and proliferative control. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2996814/ A University of Cincinnati study on red light therapy for cancer treatment said: “We found that it can recover the mitochondrial function,” said Diao, associate professor in the Department of Cancer Biology in UC’s College of Medicine and a University of Cincinnati Cancer Center member. “Some of the cells can even go back to normal. This proves that by just using some simple light stimulation we can at least partially recover the mitochondrial function of the cell.” www.uc.edu/news/articles/2022/08/using-light-to-restore-cell-function.html I could go on, and on, and on, and ON. And if you will just search for the effect of infrared light on mitochondria, you can find plenty of evidence that I am telling the truth. But I suspect that you just want to be a jerk and have no interest in finding out the truth -- otherwise, you would have already done the search.

No evidence to back this up. I worked for the world's oldest and largest sauna company for many years as their corporate trainer. This claim is unsubstantiated. IR is nowhere near as healthy as a traditional Finnish sauna and most of the claims associated with IR "sauna" use have been created and propagated by online IR importers, marketers, and retailers. End of story.
@CCoburn3
@CCoburn3 6 месяцев назад
@@robertneal9837 Yet there are DOZENS of studies that show the benefit of exposure to infrared and near-infrared light. These studies are medical studies conducted by prestigious universities and research facilities -- not sauna manufacturers. So we must conclude that either (1) You don't have a clue what you're talking about, or (2) all of these studies are completely wrong. I wonder which it is...

As a finn sauna is not so serious. You can sit there without thinking anything else or talk with somebody and throw water in when you want. You can go out to swim of just out or cold shower and go back in when you want. Sauna is nice way to let it go. It’s hot and that is why its relaxing. (Not like mild steamrooms.)

Infrared is defined by its wavelength. The wavelength of infrared light from the sun is the same as the infrared light produced by infrared bulbs. The sun is producing the full spectrum of infrared and the bulbs will be narrower, so, if penetration into the body is determined by wavelength, bulbs would have more specific penetration but not deeper. The idea that IR from the sun penetrates differently than man made devices seems flawed.
@michaelstevenson2517

And the fact he says the longer wave IR of Saunas penetrates more shows he knows nothing, as it is shorter wave radiation that has the ability to penetrate deeper into matter. 😂

Infrared chest jackets are being used to treat chest inflammation in critically ill patients E.g., covid. Maybe it’s something that should be used when there is a medical indication that the short term benefits outweigh the long term risks. The patients are wheeled out into the sun for 20 min a day once they are well enough to be mobile. This appears to backup the claims made here.

Is this same thing as red light therapy?
@snappey
@snappey 2 месяца назад
Not exactly. One is more focused on heat, the other is light. Far infra-red is the higher end of spectrum of the red wavelength, it is invisible and penetrates deeper into tissues (think of like the sun or those heat lamps). Red light therapy is typically bright red spectrum from 600-850 (the higher up you go the more invisible it gets) and uses LED's (although you can buy red heat lamp bulbs, but the point is you don't want the heat/cooking aspect of it), it's mainly almost pure red light without much of the heat. The 800-950 spectrum of infra-red penetrates deeper. Each has different uses it is better in and benefits the other doesn't. If you stand in the sun you are getting full spectrum. Too much sun is said to cause cancer due to the UV. But rest of the light itself, no one knows if, or how much could possibly cause mutations/cancer. I think if you can stand out all day in the sun and we've been doing it for millennia, then I do not think any of this would harm you at all as it's far less dose than the sun. Using it responsibly and not "cooking" yourself to death with it only gives benefits. Listening to your body I think is the way to go. I personally use it and have had nothing but benefits.

There are over 50 ways to measure how old the earth is, almost all of them point to a young earth. Carbon dating proves the earth is young, even if their scale is off, many things that are supposed to be millions of years old like diamonds show carbon 14 in them. Can't you just have a hot bath?
@geodude6244
@geodude6244 6 месяцев назад
Hot bath is good for muscle spasms and certain pain because of you being sorta buoyant and consistent heat but you need it to be hot to work. Also I read somewhere if you have heart problems the pressure from the water can possibly pump blood back in your heart if you flatline. Sauna gets your body heated up even more and makes you sweat clears your airways better.

@@monkeymuggs This is incorrect, Japanese studies on sauna tend to use infrared sauna. Just look up Waon therapy. The Japanese use infrared saunas.
