It sounds SUPER WEIRD to me how it may be a concern for american couples to have to worry about taking the centerpieces back home after the party or whatever. In México the centerpiece is considered a favor for whoever gets to the table first, like people (specially aunts and grandmas) will literally fight for the centerpiece, floral or not, and proudly take it home after the reception
Ive seen this at other weddings as well...only a problem when renting your centerpieces as now the bride and groom have to cover the cost of that missing item Dollar Tree has been a great resource for our pieces
Yesssss! But yeah I had these big beautiful crystal candelabras that we rented from the venue that were holding the flowers and someone literally tried to take it. The venue came to tell me someone took it and I’d owe $300 for it. Luckily a groomsman spotted them and told them to leave it and I had to have our DJ announce that they can take the flowers but not the candelabra lol. So embarrassing
My daughter managed to have her dream wedding. The flowers were $1,500. I was happy to support the florist, who was basically an artist! The compliments from the guests were along the lines of doing it all first class. The flowers blessed the penthouse for days after the wedding, on the large dining table. Then we actually brought them home, and the bride took a couple bouquets to her honeymoon suite, and another one home after the honeymoon. The arch flowers were on our large kitchen kitchen island for about a week. It was so special to have the wedding experience linger, and carry over to home. My environment was super floral scented! The pictures are gorgeous and the flowers were a beautiful contribution.
My wedding was canceled due to the pandemic, but I was planning on using cakes as our centerpieces with candles, blood oranges, pomegranates, and clementines
I'm getting married next october. I've never been a fan of halloween, but i've always loved witch things and witchcraft. I've been noticing a trend (or just my algorithm) of witchy-themed weddings that i just love. We will get married at a sugar shack and our ceremony will be in the woods!
I’ve been noticing the same - moody, witchy weddings. That might just be related to my other searches, so it’s hard to tell if it’s a big theme. I’ll be adding plenty of darker elements to my wedding, which is slated for next October or November.
okie disclaimer this comment is just my opinion and observation and I understand that Jamie you only have experience from western weddings ... I'm 20 almost 21 and I've never wanted centerpieces at my wedding I just never saw them as a crucial element I would much rather spend more money on other parts of my wedding ... the reason for this being that indian weddings have a lot of food ... like A LOT of appetizers and dishes that are brought out ... and as a guest I love when there are no centerpieces in the way of my food LOL ... the last wedding I went to all the guests ended up having the centerpieces moved by the servers because there was no room for plates for food ... BUT you did sell me on the tealights I've always admired those .. so maybe :)
OMG i just remembered a wedding I went to in London my cousins "centerpiece" was a large white ceramic lazy Susan and the waiters displayed the diff appetizers on it ... made serving food such a breeze
I’m getting married in October and we are doing a boho vibe. I’m having it on my in laws property and we’re literally just going and cutting down random dried up weeds and flowers and putting it in bud vases. My whole bouquet is dried and preserved floral too
Video idea: how to go about a dry wedding. I’m currently planning mine and neither of us drink and aren’t really fans of being around drunk family. How do we nicely say that we don’t want drinking on our day (I.e not having people show up drunk)?
For future couples: Just put on the invite/website that you are having a dry wedding and that you wish for no one to consume before or during the wedding. If they do, then you have everyright to kick them out.
We are doing a Broadway themed wedding with playbills instead of table numbers and props from the show instead of flowers!! My fiancé and I are actors and are able to use old props from shows we’ve been in and borrow from friends. We are doing small vases with gold paint and battery tea lights inside. My crafting has been brought to the next level! I legit made a mini Audrey 2 plant from Little Shop lol We are putting all the props on a gold plate to help ground the design and give a coherent look with all the different shows ❤️
@@citlali333 We do a lot of community theatre where we have to buy our own props, and some of the "props" are souvenirs from seeing the show on professionally (one of our friends is letting us borrow his f*** frog from book of mormon for example)
Claudia Estela Book sales, estate sales, or yard sales, but you may have to hit several to get enough old ones. Or if you are really a book nerd, perhaps each table can be a genre: mysteries, romances, science fiction, westerns, many categories of nonfiction-biographies, photography, cookbooks, pets, art, mythology-whatever your interests are. I think antique stores may also have old books, but they may cost more. Our venue provided boring centerpieces, so we just went along with that, but I’d love to have a crack at the book theme. Good luck, whatever you decide.
In addition to flowers, plants and candles,I love the idea of seashells 🐚. Additional ideas including holiday decor... pumpkins, leaves, cornucopia with fruit,pies,quilted/crocheted centerpieces, apple baskets, hanukkiah candelabra, gelt, tier trays, Pine boughs,Suspended large Christmas globes with filled open centers, wheat sheaves, you also might put your guest book (with prayers, poems, etc.)or framed signable mat photo on a doillie with a couple of bird figurenes(or whatever else)in the middle of the table.Wood carvings and sculptures might be nice ,but could use something to warm the effect.Seen "chandeliers"a.k.a. beaded swagging suspended over the tables but they really needed something like a red bow attached to the top to warm the space, whatever kind of chandelier it be...solar system, candles...some color maybe.
I’m thinking about doing fake flowers cus I have horrible allergies, my theme is a starry night so maybe just some dark crystals and scented candles that are not too pungent ya know... I’m a rock hound so I love rocks haha
Were doing moss instead of the standard eucalyptus etc of greenery. Would love to hear about moss or just alternative greenery? I don't know if its a trend lol but I would love to hear about it lol
The Dollar Tree vases can also be ordered online to pick up in store! They come packaged nicely for travel/storage. I did this for an event last year and it was very convenient.
I would love this as a series! We’re going flower free for centerpieces specifically for aesthetic purposes. We’re leaning in to the light theme, and using unique light pieces instead, like twinkle lights in various shaped containers and I (and my budget!) could not be happier!
Ana Mazing In my case, we decided on metal caged Edison bulb shaped lanterns with twinkle lights in it, that we found on Amazon. But there’s been quite a few options we almost opted for. Old wine bottles with twinkle lights are super pretty, and geometric terrariums with lights in it are actually one of the posts on Jamie’s Pinterest board, that we also considered. I just adore twinkle lights, especially since they usually have a battery powered option, which is easier than dealing with cords, and venues that don’t allow candles are okay with them.
I love the idea of twinkle lights in clear containers, that’s actually what I’ve wanted to do for a long time! Has it actually been decently affordable? That’s been my only concern about doing that, is that the cost for twinkle lights could possibly add up really quickly.
McKenzi Oxner For me, I’ve been either trying to find them in bulk, or buy them secondhand. They definitely have affordable options out there, depending on where you look. If you’re having trouble finding any secondhand in your area, Amazon has been a great cost effective resource for me so far.
My wedding was almost entirely handmade (my preferred term to DIY). We put round cakes on cake stands for our center pieces. My mom and grandma made and froze cakes for months ahead of time. The type of cake was written on the back of the table card and people went from table to table picking the cake they wanted to eat! The cakes were simple and beautiful and people had a great sampling throughout the night!
I totally needed to see this! We are doing a constellation theme, so flowers almost didn't make sense to me because we are more leaning towards lights and candles (also, a lot of the groom's side and I are really allergic to flowers)
Hi Jamie! Been watching your vida since I got engaged in May 2018, wedding was supposed to be May 31, 2020. It’s now May 23, 2021 :/. Anyways, my centerpieces are floral free. I am doing vintage glass “Viking swing” vases and mismatching vases and glassware. For the cheaper ones I thrifted I have filled them with borax crystals and used different food dyes to color the crystals. And I have made my own broach bouquet from pins I have found and people gave me when they found out I was making my bouquet. And I’m sorry this is long, but typing this is the first time I’ve been excited about my wedding since my motivation was killed when it was postponed last April. Can’t wait to watch another years worth of your vids!! Thank you for all your advice!!
This is late to the party, but I have been really thinking a lot about how much I like flowers, but cut flowers are so expensive and you just throw them out that night. So I was thinking of potted flowers. You still get the flower in a very natural way and you get to keep the flower. I think I could diy wraps or something to make the pots look nice for a day. I was thinking I would replant them in flowerbeds or distribute them. Jamie makes a good point about knowing who is going to move the plants afterwards when you are gone or exhausted after the party.
I like the idea of a "vintage" wedding, so I'm using oil lamps instead of lanterns! It gives me the height and vibe I want, plus I can borrow enough from older family members that have them so they're inexpensive! One thing to keep in mind though, the oil may have an odd smell unless you get the unscented kind.
I love your videos! I’ve noticed most of the weddings you feature are more on the rustic, vintage or classic side. I’d love to see more modern, minimalistic, urban vibes because that’s what I’ve always imagined my wedding to be 🥺
If I get one flower at that wedding, I'll be a sneezing mess. My family knows not to let me near any real flowers on my wedding day😂😂😂... Highly allergic folks, this is our video 🤗🤗🤗
I love this series idea. There are so many trends all over Pinterest but I always have questions about feasibility and the input from a wedding planner.
I found a venue near me that’s a plant shop/nursery by day, venue by night (and in an old building too). I got so excited... until I found out how much it cost 😭
I've had two family friends, one who did potted blue hydrangeas as a centerpiece, and one who did white pointsettias....both so genius. They sent them home with family friends, and what a lovely gift!
Y’all right now on Costco they have these beautiful greenery rounds, pack of 6 for $80 they’re gorgeous and they have great reviews!!! Planning on using them for my wedding next year!
We did sola flowers, which were made of wood and looked like real flowers. They were half the price of real flowers and last forever because they aren't real, so I got to keep my bouquet as a memento. My bridesmaids also have theirs as keepsakes and we gave the centerpieces to important family members and friends. My aunts each have one and they've used them as decorations in their homes.
Personally, we did a mix. So we had about 10 tables and on the four on the corners and the one in the middle we did tall flower arrangements. Then on the others (and the satellite tables) we did candle arrangements. It cut costs a lot and we still had flowers. Also, using bridesmaid bouquets on cocktail tables is great too!
Similar idea here! We did half the tables with lanterns surrounded by a ring of florals and the other half with a lantern and vase with BM bouquet. It worked perfectly and saved so much money!
I want to get married in December but don't want a Christmas or white themed wedding. I want color and plants but plants don't do so well in the winter so what I was thinking was using dried flowers and grasses
One thing for people have their wedding on the beach the lanterns are great. You can make them nautical themed or add a few sea shells and boom beachy vibes. Another one (what I am having at my wedding) is fish bowl. Have some sand in the bottom, seashells, or some nautical themed stuff add a candle and boom more beachy vibes. They are cheap and you can resell them. Or find a venue that does them. I am so thankful my venue has centerpieces in their package so I don't have to put them together, have someone set up or tear down and I don't have to take them home to deal with them afterwards.
This was a fun video! I have always felt like an outcast for not wanting a lot of flowers at our wedding. We are doing pumpkins/gourds, mason jars with hanging tea lites, and fall leaves I pressed from the first fall at our first home :)
I’m planning on making some dioramas for our centerpieces since my fiancé is a big World of Warcraft fan so our tables are going to be themed after various areas in the game!
I was guest on a wedding last year where the groom is a warhammer and table top games fan. They also decorated the tables with figurines hand painted by the groom. And every seat had a glass with your engraved name on it, filled with sand and a little figurine of their zodiac signs. It was sooo cool!
I always planned going flower free as I am not a flower person. Also I have helped at so many weddings that the flowers turned into the biggest headache before and after the wedding. I am going to be going with an antique apothecary vibe for decor. To do this I am asking friends and family to let me borrow vintage items that most people have in their homes but don't get to show often. We are also keeping an eye on things people are leaving on their curb as so many people are pandemic cleaning their houses. I have found so many good decor finds FOR FREE by taking a walk around friend's and my neighborhoods, which doubles as a nice safe hang out time with my bridesmaids.
We are doing wine bottles as our centerpieces! We are doing 3 per table: 1 will have a cork twinkle light, and the other two we cut the bottoms off and will be placing pillar candles in them. Great way to reuse and then afterwards- recycle!
I wish I could remember where I heard about this, but putting pothos cuttings in a round bowl with water and a floating candle would be right up my alley!
Yes please. More info about using house plants. I am not currently using them but have considered it. Idk how to work them in to what we already have. Or which would work best for centerpieces. Can you do a “let’s talk trends” crossed with a DIY centerpieces? You can use it as an excuse to get a new one!
We are doing a Harry Potter themed wedding so we chose flower free so we can use some items from my Harry Potter collection, and my fiance is allergic to flowers. We are doing each table by Hogwarts classroom/location. For example, one table is Divination class and that table includes a crystal ball, The Grim teacup, and HP books stacked on top of each other. HP book pages are a placemat for the items.
Came here to see if anybody else was having issues with the pinterest board? All the other boards will load fine, but if I try to open a section on the board for this video nothing ever loads and it just spins 🤔 Loved the video and was really looking forward to the pins!
Okay, I’m super single, but have been ‘planning’ my wedding (not really, more like dreaming) since I was like 12?? And I just thought as I was watching this video... I would love to have musical instruments as centrepieces 😱 Tables could have different themes: woodwind, brass, strings, percussion... There would be old and very used instruments shined up to look really nice, laid flat or on angles using platforms surrounded by greenery, old rustic sheet music and fairy lights. And yes, I am indeed a musician and hope to marry someone equally into music so it would fit us perfectly!
my wedding is Sept. 26, 20..I found your channel about 6 mos ago.. and love you.. I will continue to watch after my wedding because I love your sprit..
Ask friends and family for what they have that might work for your theme. If in a real crunch find if someone has mason jars and look up quick crafts you can do with them. I use to work at Michael's and almost every bride who came in the store bought them no matter the theme. But trust me find someone who has them before you go buying them, the mark up is crazy for an item that most people have a grandma or aunt who has a 30 or more in their cupboards.
We're getting married on Halloween, so we're doing lanterns, birdcages, and skulls as our centerpieces. I did get a couple artificial flowers to add some floral
Get out of my brain! I was literally going to do potted ferns and houseplants at the wedding this June (the one where the celebration was postponed to next June) and lanterns and candles as centerpieces with thrifted travel-themed knick knacks. I would LOVE more of the Pinterest series.
Hi Jamie! Great video :) I would love to hear you do a video of ideas for things to do on what would have been your wedding day, for couples who canceled due to COVID. Ours is coming up this month, and we're looking for a way to mark the day for ourselves and our memories - so we won't be sad all day long!
My fiance are having a super geeky wedding (we are very geeky ourselves), so each of our tables is going to have a different nerdy theme, with our funko pop figure collection serving as the centerpiece. It's super affordable, since we already own it all!
"We're gonna do a big giveaway, I don't even know what it is yet, but, we're gonna do something BIG" hahhaah. Kind of reminded me of when my mom would try to bribe me to do something. I found your videos after I got engaged in April and they have helped me so much! I'm getting married in two days and am still watching and most likely will continue watching after my wedding. NEVER STOP MAKING VIDEOS.
I'm doing lanterns for mine. Kinda like the last picture you showed, but a lantern with fairy lights and a jar with fake flowers in them. My bridesmaids will also be carrying lanterns to follow the theme and being something different and something they can keep afterwards. :)
Jaime, this wedding planning during a pandemic has been a whirlwind...we are getting so close...10-31-2020 Ive had to find a new dj, due to them shutting down for family health concerns(they actually refunded mu deposit 💓) Found a new venue, community center had cancelled at events for Summer/Fall But in the End, my personal trainer had a friend who does djing locally who used to teach a hip hop dance class at the gym! We found a venue that just opened months ago and scored an even better deal than our previous location! I am so excited to show you when its all said and done! Thanks for your virtual support! Between you and Dave I think I would have been in the dark on how to go about planning this thing and letting my fiance talk me out of getting our vendors
Not center piece related per say but I’m getting married in December so we will have our ceremony alter be a collection of live Christmas trees that will be reused as the family’s Christmas trees for that season. As for tablescapes we are just going to do basic greenery runners with TONS of candles lol
I made flowers out of coffee filters and lavender out of streamers then i bought so faux greenery. It turned out super cute and really inexpensive. It did take time but i started making them 8 months out so i had plenty
@@katelynheuser3440 I haven't gotten married yet. Long engagement lol but I plan on having a small wedding with just close friends and family. I doubt they would do that and if they did I would probably find out eventually. I don't reccomend this for larger weddings unless you don't mind a couple being taken or you plan to use them as favors. Maybe put them in glass containers with something on top to make them harder to get to though.
@@katelynheuser3440 I also haven't paid for any of my collection. All are found/gifted and I'm still not using my absolute favorites or the smaller ones that are easier to take sneakily
That's just what I needed. I'm thinking of dried flowers as this is a trend right now for home decor. I want to do dried lavender for my wedding. I love the delicate colour and, of course, the smell!
I know I'm a couple months late, but I thought I'd give an idea of mine for whoever stumbles upon this video lol. I'm doing potted flowers as centerpieces at my upcoming wedding, but they're gonna double up as favors. Taking into account that not everyone even wants favors, I'm gonna be putting like 5 pots in a circle, and in the circle will be the table number and possibly a tall, floating candle (still haven't decided on this lol). This is cool cuz you'll have one less thing to take down after the wedding since the centerpieces will hopefully be gone and taken by the guests lol
Yes! ✨ I have been having dreams about those exact house plant centerpieces from Pinterest! Upside to postponing ... more time for plant gathering and growing! 🌱
I’m not planning on having a wedding ever but if I did using house plants as centerpieces would be the way to go. Oh I most definitely would take all 15 plus plants home with me.
Another flower free idea is bare branches with fairy lights or driftwood with votives it’s seashells. Those are both easiest to execute with long tables, of course, and the latter suggestion is pretty limited to a beachy wedding.
Okay, Jamie, don't judge me....but I HATE flowers with a passion and I want as little flowers as possible at my wedding. Do you have a recommendation for a non flower bouquet replacement?
Hello! You make wonderful videos! Can you make a video about how to find place for a forest wedding? I would like mine be in a forest for the whole time but I don't know how to search for it.
