Hey, cheers ! Yes, the only jungle I actually listen to, albeit very rarely , is the old Photek and Source Direct stuff, I especially love the SOUND as in sonics, that defines my own taste in jungle and i try to take those elements, mainly breaks, and incorporate in to my own music.

Hey ! Honestly, I prefer the convenience of just working in the box, and I do all my ambient stuff that way. But when it comes to jungle, I love having a bit of old school textures that the hardware gives. You shouldn't be getting any lag when using akai sampler in combination with other sounds in your DAW. I never get any lag, and I use it all the time the way, that I have 8 MIDI tracks triggering the akai sampler, while at the same time I might have a VST instrument or few audio tracks running alongside in a perfect sync. Maybe you should simply check your sound card's latency settings ? When it comes to breaks - I do most of pre-processing like time-stretch and some other pitch effect or filtering in advance, and then it all goes into the Akai sampler via line in sampling / or just load those chops in to the NNXT / Kontakt.

Yes, this is the best toy for the price :) Yes, i run everything mono, and the only stereo i get is by either panning some stuff right or left (although in jungle i keep everything totally mono centered) and just adding stereo effects like reverb / delay. All of the 90s stuff is mostly mono, as mono was the sound systems in clubs (and i am sure still is) and also vinyl loves mono sounds the most, so jungle and mono are best friends here. I might do a short video on that, i guess .

What do you mean by probability ? It is a super simple programming with no addition effects, all the drum parts that have effects on are just pr-processed chops and put back in to NNXT and programmed with a piano roll.

Hey. I have never used it that way, but you need to have multiple inputs as well, so you have to be using an output of your card to connect to the input of an FX unit, and then send it back in to the soundcard and then do some routing inside Reason, but I am not sure what routing needs to be done. You can also use 2 soundcards with ASIO4ALL diver, but it's not always working with different soundcards. For example, my gigaport and arturia minufuse 4 don't work together using asio4all for some reason.

Yes. I run a stereo output from a mixing desk to my Arturia minifuse soundcard in to Sounforge. 24bit 44.1Khz.

wow soundforge, OK. So no limiting, compresssion, eq, etc, on the master track? I use ableton and mixing and mastering are a mystery to me @@IJOSoundVideo

Of course, 4 times the price of ESI GIGAPORT. Not everybody has soundcard with adat to begin with, because they're not cheap, are they ? Anyway, This is more like if you want to have hands-on experience with mixing desk, but can't afford S950 or just don't want to get a big chunky sampler from the past, ESI for 120 quid might be a great affordable choice. I am mostly just sharing my own experience, there are a million ways of doing things.

Hey, thanks ! No, this track is a bit older, I made it before I had my (3rd) Akai S1000, so this one's made entirely in Reason 10 using NNXT for samples. As for the soundcard - well, I wanted to play around a bit with software synths running through my outboard gear. About 10 years ago I had the first version of Gigaport ESI which to me was exactly the same thing.. I had no idea they were still made, googled it and found out you can buy a new edition on Thomann for nothing, so grabbed one. It can also allow me to have certain channels, like drums, coming from the akai, (cause Akai still punches better) and other channels filled with nice sounding VST instruments, so I wouldn't have to buy more gear, as I find running dry mono software synths through the desk can sound pretty much the same, and there are numerous great sounding soft synths out there.

Appreciate ! Reverb is coming from Alesis Quadraverb FX unit, and the reverb I always keep the same for all my tracks. The delay comes from Lexicon effects, that are built in to my Soundccraft mixing desk, and i always keep the same delay on all my tracks :D

Well, if you want some high end mixing desk and high-end rack effects, then it might be pricey, but my setup, really, cost no more than one fancy UAD plugin :D
