Just found your site. My father and his partner originally designed and invented the Nielsen Transfer Screws and Punches back in the mid/late 30's. They owned the patent at that time. This became my family business till approximately the 60's. It was then sold to another company. I thought these had become outdated since that time. What a surprise to find they continue to be a viable product. I have kept in my possession a small historic sample plate. Thank you.

That is a very useful tool for perfect for my car audio projects to cover up those large holes on the car doors, you know, the ones that are used to remove the window regulators etc. If you cover them up they help improve the car speakers performance. So this will help me be able to cover those holes up and make the panels I use on the removable to service the window motors when needed. Excellent video. I am now subscribed! 😎

Not just sheet metal, you can put inserts into almost anything just make sure that you adjust the tool to the job. He just showed one size into sheet metal. But for each size insert you have to change the mandrel in the tool to match your insert. Easy and convenient. Thanks for the video.

use a little rtv grey on the pop nut it will help stop rust in sheet metal and extra friction for the sticksion

I put a new frame rail on a mustang and the OEM part didn't have the nuts for the fender bolts.. Bought this tool right off the Dial Tool truck and it works great. I use it for all sorts of things.

I have a tough location to get at, in a confined space where I need to mount an electric vacuum pump, so it has a little weight. I may be able to get the first smaller rivet tool in there but definitely not the bigger tool. Does the first tool work well enough to justify buying and trying it though?

How long can the 1/4-20 screws be, can they go all the way through the nutsert and excess can be under vehicle? Trying to use on a Sprinter oem floor to re-secure after putting down the insulation between floor and metal. I was thinking 1/4-20 x 1" or 1.5" encase thicker insulation is used.

All good. But... What you are not mentioning is the optimal hole diameter prep on the sheet metal or plate. If you notice there are two diameters on the rivetnut the first diameter is at the beginning, then what follows is the outside diameter of the knurled portion of the rivetnut. The optimal diameter to drill and prep the hole to install the rev-nut would allow the knurled portion to cut the opposing part of sheet or plate with the same knurled pattern, as to add additional holding power.

Hey Kyle great video.Your thoughts. Do you think this would work on stainless steel running boards(nerf bars) that the nuts or threads rusted thru and pulled out. the bolts threaded up thru the bracket and into the Nerf Bars. think the kit would be a lot cheaper then getting new running boards for the truck. thanks for your time. Yep Yep. Go to one of the Big Box hardware stores and ask for Rivnut and they look at you like you have three heads. Got into these ~6 years ago. JEEPS seem to come back apart ALOT. Awwwwwesome for mounting body armor! As soon as I saw the blue box I knew which you had as well. For cheapy little stuff the one at HF will get little jobs done.

The Fab Forums I screwed up main body & shim on my 1442 rivnut tool. Called to order replacement. Was asked how it failed. I explained it was due to my negligence. They sent me replacement parts for free. Just because I was honest. I've also had no issues having them honor their warranty on the Astro 9409A hose clamp pliers. They've always provided to notch customer service.

I'm ashamed of my self.. I'm 62, and have never seen or heard of this tool. I have used pop rivets before, but never these things. I'm retired, we sold our house and downsized so had to get rid of 90% of my tools, my wood working tools.. yeah I kick my self a lot lol, but we're goin full time RV so can't take a full size table saw with ya! I WILL be getting one of these tho!

Still using such a laborious tool? Sigma rivet nut adapter makes it easy to set the rivet nut! It's time to have a more relaxed tool.

Does the tool come with corresponding drill bits, or a chart to use when selecting the size nutsert. I’m getting ready mount a ladder on the back of my Disco 2 and it’s calling for a 7mm drill bit. I’m wondering if I can use one close or will I mess it up.

You want the Marson tool(s) if you can get them. Same for the RivNuts if you can get them, unless you LIKE aggravation. If the Astro-Pneumatic *riv-nuts* are any indication - had four bags of the 10-24 A-P RivNuts not work - you’ll find them annoying to try to use.

how strong are these? I currently have the problem that my subframe bolt nuts inside my chassie broke loose when intook off my subframe. now im thinking of putting in a m12 rivnut but will it be tough enough to hold a subframe?

They're strong. They're essentially a huck bolt you can install by hand but if you start getting above m10 you need some strength and these cheap tools will strip the mandrel threads sometimes. They make manual hydraulic ones as well as air actuated. They're strong though. The mirror on my semi uses m8's through the door frame and one just ripped out of the door frame taking with it about a 2 inch diameter of the metal. The metal will fail before the nut does and in a subframe, that's not rusty, I don't see that happening. Just know the thicker the material the more challenging to install properly. Also check out renting a huck bolt tool. Don't bother checking on buying one. They're crazy expensive.

Discovered that jewel of a tool a few years ago, definitely a life changing tool, gives you so many more options for mounting stuff, just have to remember to reorder the rivnuts (I keep forgetting).... keep up the great work
