Welcome back to Kyrgyzstan! Our time in this beautiful country continued on Issyk Kul Lake! This is the largest lake in Kyrgyzstan and we stayed at a remote yurt camp for 3 nights on the south side of the lake.
We had a full 3 days here.. we kicked things off with an eagle hunting demonstration which was incredibly unique and fascinating to see! Central Asia is actually the birthplace of the ancient tradition of eagle hunting and this has been passed down here in Kyrgyzstan from generation to generation for thousands of years.
We hiked through Skazka Canyon which is filled with brightly colored sandstone rock formations. We visited Kyzyl-Tuu, a small nearby village where they build yurts, and last but not least, we just relaxed at our camp and enjoyed the beautiful and peaceful nature surrounding Issyk Kul Lake.
Yurt camp we stayed in...

Jess and Myles, at first Carole and I thought you had just visited the Auburn University Raptor Center, but we were soon tipped off as there isn't any beautiful giant lake there! We are continually amazed at the physical scenery and the warm and hospitable people you find at every turn of your adventures. Truly makes us think of new 'bucket list' destinations. We also are continually moved by your amazement at every turn. Sunday AM we 'countdown' waiting for a new notification..

Your adventures are always amazing. I'm enjoying your experience immensely. I would be interested in how you go about researching all of these out-of-the-way places and activities. All of this has just been awesome.

Thanks so much Greg!! It honestly depends on the country but I read A LOT of blog posts and generally start with a search of "2, 3, or 4 week itinerary in __________" and then dive in from there. With a country like Kyrgyzstan it is honestly really easy to feel off the beaten track even with the most popular activities with how few tourists are there. But let's take Turkey for example (our next country)... we still do a lot of the main attraction type stuff, I.e., Cappadocia, but we typically try to balance that out with less visited places. For example, Southeastern Turkey gets a lot less tourists than Western Turkey so we went there as well (videos coming soon ☺️). Haha I dunno if this answers your question or not but basically I read way too many blogs for my own good... I have about 20 tabs open on my computer right now on Sri Lanka, where we are heading today. ☺️☺️

@@WaypointofView Thank you Jess. I took off in the early 80's and relied mostly on word of mouth and accident. Have a great trip to Sri Lanka!

I enjoy a lot of your videos, but this is the best ever. I'm obsessed with dramatic geologic features. How was the lake formed, and why are there perfect separations in the color on the slopes. I'd guess that you're camping in an ancient caldera, or the signature of a meteor strike. The people are amazing with their personalities, and their crafts. I'd still like to see what kind of fish (if any) are in that lake. And I'd really like you to take an anthropologist, a cosmogaphist, and a geologist along with you right there. Yeah - this one is my favorite for sure.

Very beautiful. I am coming this year. I need to work while traveling. How is your experience with the internet there? How fast is it?

Honestly, outside of the cities, the wifi was not reliable. The yurt camp had zero service or wifi when we were there. The name was Feel nomad yurt camp.

Can I have the name of the yurt camp you are staying in the VDO?
