Great explanation. So if that is January through May, and you got 646 orders, I subtract your spend from your revenue, and get approx 10,500, divide that by 646, = $16.25 gross profit per order, subtract $9 for POD supplier and fees cost estimate, and get $7.25 profit per item, multiply that again by 646, =$4683.50, divided by 5 months, is about $937 per month. So just so people are clear, in order to achieve that much, you need access to quite a bit of cash. But after using the same formula on your total sales, you end up with about $8500 profit per month, not bad.

Hi Taylor, we 100% use ads and it works for us, but to a certain extent. Our budget runs out like halfway through the day, but when we have tried doubling the budget…even for over a month at a time, we didn’t see an increase in revenue than from what it was before. What would you suggest here?
@TaylorPOD
@TaylorPOD Месяц назад
There are too many missing variables to give a super accurate recommendation but here are my first questions I'd ask myself in this situation: 1. Doubling the ad budget doesn't mean it is doubling the spend - is the ad budget being completely spent? In theory, if you're *spending* double on Ads you're existing ROA's should double as well. 2. If the new doubled ad budget is being fully spent and your revenue has not changed at all, that seems to be a conversion issue which i'd analyze the listing amongst competitors to determine why 'clicks' are happening (spending the budget) but no sales in return. I am not sure the exact ad budget you have also. Doubling can be very different from doubling $2 to doubling $200. A $2 to $4 difference in ad spend isn't going to make a remarkable change comparably to a $200 to $400 difference.

Hi, Taylor! I'm a big fan and totally love your videos! I have etsy ads turned on in my shop and I wanted to ask you, if you change your title and your tags adapting to what data the ads are giving you, does that affect the evolution of that listing if it sold? And also if you have a sale through ads from a broad term do you turn it off or not? Thanks so much for all the valuable info that you share! 🤗

I just started running ads a few weeks ago. Great data. My question is about the listings I’m putting up. If I’m putting up listings for Christmas, for example, should I turn on ads yet since people probably aren’t searching for it yet? If so, When should I run the ads?
@TaylorPOD
@TaylorPOD Месяц назад
I leave Ads on for holiday listings. Etsy Ads are pay per click so they're only going to spend money if someone clicks them. If someone clicks them it's because they were looking for them. If no one is searching for that holiday themed item yet - you will receive no clicks - no budget spent - no problem. :)

Hi! Do you turn of adds that are under 3% ROAs?
@TaylorPOD
@TaylorPOD Месяц назад
I try to boost it first by making adjustment within the listing. If i can't get the ROAs up above 3 after about 3-4 months I turn off the ad.

great insight in this video! quick question if you dont mind answering. I have a listing that when advertised absolutely blows up my ad budget although it is my bestseller and gets the most orders, it actually spends more than it makes. It generates 30x the views and clicks than all my other listings and I've gone through all the keywords and only left the very specific ones on. Not sure if I should keep it on because its my bestselling item or turn it off because it spends too much.

If it is not bringing you in profit, turn the ad off - simply having sales from an Ad with no return is just a vanity metric. It isn't serving a value at all if its eating money up. If you turn off Ads and the listing sees no organic sales - I'd re-evaulate SEO.

I have a couple of best sellers..and my max add budget is 500$ should I go max?? I'm kinda scared it might use it all and I don't make a profit

Hey Taylor, I know this is probably a stupid question but where do I find the keywords that are being used? and how do I get to them? If you could help me out with this, I'd really appreciate it!

When you click the listing in the Etsy Ad dashboard you will see the button 'Searches that led to this ad' :)

Is it okay to run ads on a very new shop without a sale yet and with few listings? Or just wait to have an organic sale first without running ads?
@TaylorPOD
@TaylorPOD Месяц назад
Yes! I’ve always run ads from the very beginning because they’re providing data. The data given from running ads has always been incredibly useful to make more educated decisions and gain momentum faster. With that being said, you have to be analyzing what’s happening with your Etsy Ads to grow from them. They can’t just be turned on and left. A strategy has to be implemented.
