The sound of the 45’s brings back a lot of great memories - can remember well the ‘99 UGP when Joey beat DJ on the V&M R1 on his old 45. Joey had that bike absolutely singing that day 🎶
"say hello Neal you are on the vlog".......................................................................................................Bollocks.............🤣 Neal is a gem and needs to be protected at all costs. 😅
Hi Lee, sorry for yet another question😂 but have you got any merch coming up for sale? Bobble hats and jackets and things? That Ashcourt Jacket you was wearing in this video, any chance of them going up for sale?! Cheeers mate
That sound ❤. Love the rc45s, they came out the year I passed my bike test, watching slightly mixing it with Foggy and Scott Russell, I couldn’t afford one back then, definitely can’t afford one now 😂
I saw that at the Paris to dakar one of the oil sponsors has a truck and they'll diagnose your engine oil to see any types of debris and pieces of metal etc to tell if anything in the engine isn't working right or wearing incorrectly. High tech shit I'm wayyyy behind the times I still use a clutch even
That SP2 sounds 😍 be mint to hear it flat out at the classic TT!!! Also…… when are we seeing this years helmet man I’m running out of patience Lee haha 🤘🏼
Hi Lee. Great video. I ride with a mate who has the SP2. It has 2 brothers cans on & is like thunder on the road. All the best for the coming season. From a Multistrada rider. (Love V twins). Regards. Steve.
Forgotton how good the RC45 sounds...they both sound the dogs bollocks...our local bike whisperer in Plymouth Crispys Motorcycles a former racer does bloggs on the Dyno and I love seeing all the detail..the performance upgrades he can get out of factory bikes is incredible...it can never be boring...👍👍
What an eargasm Lee! Would of loved to of heard the SP2 hit the high notes but damn, just amazing. When the weathers half decent i always pass a guy in my little Berlingo van in the next village along on my way to work on a VFR800, always wind the window down a bit for the V4 gear driven symphony...
I’ve just completely overhauled my RC30. Even fitting new HRC Kit pistons, Beryllium copper valve seats etc, etc. Super careful running in now in progress.
Great vlog Lee, Rc45’s sound amazing. Would love to see you giving it a go round Scarborough on one this year? They were always the weapon of choice round there in the 90,s and the noise they make rattling through the trees is amazing.
i new all V+M staff ,i live down the road im 98% sure at the time the RC45 was out and being raced by carl fogaty / john koincki / hrc the early / mid 90`s there engine tuner / builder at v+m should have been DAVE MELLOR . im also sure all HONDA BRITTAN rc45 wear tuned / built by TONY SCOOT ??? !!!!
@@LeejohnstonPoor Neil probably suffers from Wintertime Blues (S.A.D.)😕 Get him a Happy Light (light therapy lamp, bulbs!)💡🌞 "Let the sunshine in...!"🎶😽
About 14 years ago I came across a Honda race bike that was sized for a 12-13 year old. It wasn’t one of those ”pocket bikes”. It wasn’t a street legal bike at all and it was to small for an average adult. I’ve tried looking for it online to figure out what it was but don’t know what to look for I guess. The only youth size race bikes I see, seem to be the size of those “pocket bikes” for younger kids. Any idea what I may be talking about? Maybe a specific racing classification I may find something similar? Thanks for the help.
That sound is so unique. I know they are pretty rowdy but they sound quite tame😅 (SOUND) Just this smooth midtone. My bike makes my ears bleed at full crack. I wear headphones or earplugs under my helmet or your ears will ring like a bell🤣
Detonation from fuel build up? Never heard of it, unless in the exhaust with a loud pop. More like carbon build up, spark plug fouling, engine oil dilution over time or, only in very extreme cases, hydrolocking. The dyno man just knows how to dyno, it appears.
Not crazy torque by todays standards, but so flat that torque curve. Someone explaining riding this for the first time to another... "Right, so you need to get it about 11k revs before she hits peak torque on out past 14k......" 😁
Another top Vlog 👍 thanks for sharing the dyno runs. Love that second rc45!! Not that i don't love the 1 your using for the classic!! Just the 2nd sounded alittle bit phatter. Always cool to hear classic bikes. Hope that meal from Neil tasted sweet. Look forward to the vlogs from testing. All the best 👊
i know it's an old video now but, this one triggers me quite a lot as a mechanic. since when doing more than 3 pulls on the Dyno is a normal thing to do? i mean, conditions get worse and worse with temps inside the room no matter what kind of air conditionning you have. so 3 pulls is what you need. and you make an average. everything else is pure masturbation. just eating the tyre on the roller and taking some life away from the engine for no real reason. as well as burning expensive fuel. he even forces the dyno to slow down with its brakes. when you just need to let it go down gently and go for another pull. some mechanics will always amaze me with their stupid habits. priceless. nothing against you Lee of course. 😄
The second 45 sounded sweeter than the first. Wouldn't really expect the fancy fuel to make any more as without optomising for the higher octane (running more timing mainly) it offers no advantage. Very cool to hear them at full chat!
Music to my ears❣️ Some good old Classic Rock🔈🎶 🤟 Too bad you couldn't set one of your bikes up on a dyno in front of your garage during race weekend, charge $ for a "ride!" 🤤🤠
Effin brill, my rc8r probably puts out more, I'm sure Niell would be happier working on that. Ps, push biking comments from Alicante, artic unit coming up behind you,? Get out of my way
Great vlog....love sound and tech details, the kit RC read out seemed a drop off curve at max compared to the Race one...lost that when you changed fuel, good to see Frank I remember his Dad racing locally to me
@@Leejohnston I might to some but to me would of been interesting to see how you run eg the rings and cams and other things I am just a petrol head like that mate
I always loved the sound of the 851/888 when my mates were loving the inline 4 stuff as a teen. Does still make me giggle a bit that we basically got Japanese Ducati's in the fightback...
