Thank you for the exhortation of living pure. So rare and refreshing. The Lord alive in us is powerful. We cannot ever earn our way into eternity, Period!!! So strike the possibility of rejection from your mind, however by His grace we can live in victory. This involves brutal pride gutting honesty and perseverance. We don’t want to just appear godly before men and deny the power that overcomes sin. It’s not about us achieving perfection, it’s effectiveness for the love of souls! It’s about cultivating the Spirit’s leadership. Trust!

This message is so timely and practical. Praise the Lord! I’m battling anorexia which has nothing to do with image for me. It’s due to grief and life changes…control. I can’t just avoid food…that is one of my issues. But, with it around I eat and then feel like I need to punish myself. I’ve been walking with Jesus for 26 years. I’m so perplexed. I’ve talked to my pastor with little support. I’ve sought biblical counselors, all who state they don’t have experience with eating disorders. I’m at a loss and feel so abandoned and rejected. I’m sinking.

Jen you mention your pastor hasn’t helped. I’m sincerely sorry to hear it. Does your church have elders or deacons? If the pastor is too busy, these men ought to be able to shepherd you through this. If your church doesn’t have either, I would encourage you to consider looking for a church in your area that is ruled by a plurality of elders - perhaps a PCA church or a reformed Baptist church. God’s peace and grace to you, sister.

How we respond to sin before men is fruit of our faith. What do we trust in? How much do we rely on Christ and demonstrate that trust visibly. If we’re demonstrating pride then Christ may not be fully formed in us.

This whole video argues against the very premise of Galatians 5. There is no fighting or avoiding sin because it is merely a reflection of the heart and not the problem that needs to be addressed. Scripture says that righteousness is attributed to seeking God so, by default, sin is the result of not seeking God. The answer to sin is to seek God. Anything else is just noise.

What do you do when people are my temptation to sin? Familial language does not brings good feelings to me. There has been no one in my life I could trust. I am trying to work through my bitterness and rage with God, looking at my sinful part in past relationships. But being around people tempts me to be angry. I have to work though. I can't flee my job...and yes, the church has betrayed me as well, so don't say "go to church." Please tell your listeners how to be around someone who is sad and depressed and bitter. I can't talk to anyone because I'm a "debbie downer, a party pooper, etc." When I found out my husband molested my daughter, I upset the "pastor" I went to for guidance because I was crying and upset. He told me to go home and pray. He never called me back in or called to check up on me. I obviously hurt people by being upset, so no. I won't go talk about things with anyone. I'll keep being fake because people can't handle it.

Hi Jackie, Peace and grace upon you from our Lord Jesus Christ. First I want to commend you on addressing your heart towards bitterness, anger & rage for even King David asked God to search his heart and to lead him from an offensive way into a way of everlasting life (Psalm 139:23-24); & Paul too says to look at our heart, examine ourself and test ourself (2 Corinthians 13:5). Well done! - In some way shape or form, anger/rage can be rooted in pride and unthankfulness. The remedy, continue fixing your eyes on Jesus seeking Him with all your heart and keeping your mind focused on pure and holy things (Philippians 4:8). Forgiveness can be found at the heart of anger and to look for the goodness of God. Naomi and the book of Ruth can be a great example to look at - Naomi was filled with bitterness sadness and spite towards the Lord for what had happened to her husband and the death of her two sons and she blamed the Lord for it but what the Lord was preparing for her and Ruth was a kinsmen-redeemer! The one true Kinsmen-Redeemer is Jesus Christ who is now known to us! Through the chapters of Ruth, Naomi slowly turns from bitterness and spite towards the Lord to one of thankfulness and joy in what the Lord had given her in life. She also went from looking at disdain towards Ruth to a view of loving her, forgiving her and ultimately accepting her into the family (but she had Ruth by her side to maintain Naomi’s focus to be fixed on God which leads me to my next point below!) - Find a Godly mentor/figure in your life that you can talk about these things with and at some point seek out a healthy church (John MacArthur and Jonny have a great video on how to seek out a healthy church). Not seeking out church or a Godly person you can trust is exactly where Satan wants you, be alert and aware of how Satan operates to make us comfortable or angered so that we don’t be filled/renewed with fellow believers. - The church is made up of broken people, after all Jesus did not come for the healthy but the sick! The betrayal that is creating disdain for the church inside of you, let go of it - because at the end of the day each one of us is a sinner and needs the Savior. You won’t find a perfect church until Christ returns. Which is why again, I press for you to at least find a Godly mentor/figure first then slowly seek out the healthy church. - So what do you when people are your temptation to sin? Forgive and seek the Lord’s Joy. Then live free in Christ, not to keep on sinning I mean, but live in freedom in the Spirit! Live free in Him and rejoice! Rejoice always! (2 Corinthians 3:17 & Philippians 4:4) Truly seek out His Word and dive deep into it. I am certain someone else may come along and give you more words from the Lord, I leave you with this: May the LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace. (Numbers 6:24-26) I will be praying for you Jackie, Lord bless you

Hey, I can relate to your feelings and experience in this comment. I also struggle with feelings of anger and rage just being around people sometimes, even people I don’t know well and have never hurt me. For my part, I know it is because I struggle with pride, insecurity, bitterness at God, etc. I am still dealing with this, and don’t have much advice except to keep going to God. Do not withdraw from the Lord or His people. The Church needs you as much as you need them. Unfortunately, the church is full of sinners and people who also have trauma and issues they haven’t dealt with, and sometimes people speaking up about their own issues drags issues to the surface in other people that they aren’t ready to deal with, so they reject and shun out of fear and their own sin and anxiety. We need to be gracious with them as we wish they were gracious with us. I also can relate because I was molested by my dad. I still feel a lot of anger and problems trusting because of it, as well as my own sexual sin struggles that I believe were probably planted by the experience. But please be an example of forgiveness and protection to your daughter. Don’t be an example of bitterness and hatred and unforgiveness, but neither be one of passivity and neglecting to care about justice. Don’t show your daughter it’s okay to not trust and forgive people (particularly the church-you should forgive your husband but don’t trust him until their is real fruit of repentance, and even then be wise and don’t allow him to be in situations he may be tempted to sin). I say all this because I see myself in my mom - trust issues, bitterness, self-absorption, etc. probably also borderline personality disorder, which is brought on by trauma often. I wish I could see my parents walk out the faith they claim by seeking to forgive and do what’s hard, which includes them confessing their sin to the church and seeking counsel and help, rather than being fearful and hiding. It makes sense to hide and have fear, but we have the Spirit, which means we need to walk in God’s ways, which are foolishness to our flesh. But also, I do recommend either talking to your pastor and telling him how his behavior has caused you to distrust him and others, and see if he’ll repent and begin truly counseling you. That would give him and opportunity to see how he needs to change too. Otherwise, if he won’t, seek out a more healthy church. Healthy pastors can take anything their congregants might tell them, because they are being made whole in Christ themselves and understand the depravity of man. I will pray for you. The way is hard and narrow, but it is real, abundant life, and the reward is great in Christ Jesus. Press on!

@@manutdfan348 This happened in 2002. My daughter revealed this in a "Good Touch/Bad Touch" program during her Kindergarten class. She didn't tell me because my husband convinced her that I would hate her if I found out. He did go to prison and has been in there since 2002.

@@kaospillar4263 He is teaching me all of this. I didn't mean to imply that I expect perfection from people. I just wish people were more honest about why they reject me. I'm 53 and not one person has ever bothered to tell me what I do that hurts them, bothers them, etc. So, I'm left to come up with my own conclusions, which leads to all sorts of crazy, sinful ideas and attitudes, like self-righteousness, ungrateful, rage, etc. The last church I went to, from all I could see, was a healthy church ( thebpastor was a graduate from Master's Seminary, which is why I chose it). I asked for some counseling from the 2 elders and their wives and they agreed, but never spoke of it again, not even to schedule an appointment nor tell me they were busy or had too much on their plate. A year later and still nothing. What made it worse was knowing that all 4 of them were certified biblical counselors. I can't help but think they were okay with letting me continue to carry this alone because I've carried it alone for 20 years. I let it go because they were busy. They were trying to buy permanent property for the church. The pastor also heard my initial conversation with them but never said anything to me and would look pained if he saw me approaching. I wish their had been someone in my life who cared enough about me and my life to teach me what I needed and wanted to know. God has been the only one.
