Sometimes, the reality of adopting doesn't match our expectations. Honestly, we often don't meet our own expectations as adoptive parents! Today, I want to share how adoption may affect your mental health.
Disclaimer: I am not a therapist or a doctor, but I'm sharing my personal experiences with mental health struggles during adoption. Please reach out to your doctor or therapist if you are struggling with a mental health crisis.

Very helpful! The effect of adoption on your mental health also applies to the arrival of your own biological child - it will expose all your buried mental health issues. So getting help before having your own biological baby is also GREAT advice. Well done for opening up about your own struggles so that adoptive parents can understand that they're not the only ones with these struggles ❤

I second this. Your videos are wonderful, so genuine & informative. One thing that has stuck out to me over the course of binging on them is how many of the challenges you mention in raising adopted children is the same or very similar to what parents go through with bio kids. This has been really comforting to me because though there are big differences, there is also a great deal of sameness in the needs of caring for children. ❤

Thank you for all your content, it's very helpful. This video is timely as we are 2 weeks post-placement, it was helpful to have the reminders, especially about the leaky bucket. Thank you for all that you do.

I’m so glad the reminders were helpful! The leaky bucket thing is so hard. Praying your first month goes as smoothly as it can!

I'm 35 and considering adopting. Is that too old? My wife is 33 and we have no kids just a puppy
