Yes for sure! I just wanted to know if you could do a video explaining what it would take for a freshman to make varsity?! I’m a freshman and I play completely and I play beach volleyball! I love the sport! A video like this would be beyond helpful for me! I would love to make varsity and it has always been a goal of mine! Thank you and love u! I have volleyball tryouts on Monday and I’m getting stressed!

@@yourbaeniaclay i totally understand that:) ive been playing for 6yrs now & i _still_ get a bit anxious. but hey.. just remember the only reason youre nervous is bc this means a lot to you. build all of these heebie jeebies into a positive energy & itll push you forward. it sounds easier on paper, but w the right attitude & mindset, you can do it. good luck at your tryouts

Do you have advice on what to wear and what to bring 💕

@@nashiyamorant4219 on what to wear, here are some tips: 1) current club shirt if you have it 2) dont wear a tank top 3) bright colors are good to be noticable amongst everyone 4) you can wear a headband for everyday of the tryout so the coach can think "oh theres that headband girl again.." 5) minimal jewelry. earrings are fine, but nothing dangling. as for necklaces, safe to just not wear at tryouts to be safe what to bring: 1) good sized water bottle. you dont want to waste time refilling your jug 2) electrolyte drink(s) in your bag *helps refuel your body, v important‼* 3) extra pins, marker, & note in case your tag falls off. typically the coaches will supply these, but i experienced an accident at my freshmen tryouts so best to be careful 4) quick snacks (ex: granola bars). youll probably only have a second to take a bite so make it quick 5) whatever else you like to bring in your volleyball bag

How about blocking out the tryouts, don't even think about when you practice. Just focus on the ball.

try out! you’ll still learn a lot from the try outs alone even if you don’t make it to the team, u can always try out next year or next semester

go to the open gyms for ur school if they have them our school has them for three months and two week conditioning period

honestly just go for it, the worst thing that can happen is that you don’t make the team and you have time to practice and learn to be a better and stronger player for next year :)

@@savandtay6818 ALWAYS call the ball (say something “mine” or “got it”) and ALWAYS hustle to get it even if you don’t get a great pass, coaches will know that you’re at least trying to keep the ball up. Basically just don’t let the ball drop in front of you. Another thing that coaches are looking for is COACHBLE players. This means people that can take in advice and quickly apply it. So if you get corrections from a coach, use their advice so you won’t keep making the same mistakes :D I don’t want to make u read too much so lastly, cheer other people on, always stay positive and I also recommend watching professional/collegiate games so u can see their habits!

I got into the first cut but the last day of tryouts i wasn’t playing well at all, idk what it was maybe bc i wss so nervous and thinking about how other people were doing and not myself. Anyways, I’m now the manager of the volleyball team and i still wish that i could be playing on the court with the other girls, but, I’m going to tryout again next year and hopefully i’ll be on the court with them.

NAH CAUSE THIS IS MY EXACT ISSUE AND I HAVE TRYOUTS TODAY 😭. make sure your food is definitely not the issue and hit with the heel of your hand I heard helps

Hi!! I've been playing volleyball since I was 8 (I am now going to be in the 9th grade) and I made the high school varsity team as a freshman. I've been playing club for a while (my sisters have played volleyball for a long time too) and I used to struggle with this a lot. My best advice is to rethink your toss. If you want to make sure you have a fast swing, toss your ball a little bit lower (you want to hit the ball when it is on its way up not when it is dropping down). When you toss lower it forces your arm to swing a lot faster. With your serving/hitting arm; make sure to keep your wrist by your ear and your elbow back in almost like a bow and arrow position, that way when you swing you are using more of that arm momentum to gain more force (but make sure to keep your wrist stiff!!). It could also have to do with your step. Most coaches say to pretend that your non dominant hand (the hand you throw the ball up with to serve for you to hit with your dominant hand) is connected to your left (for right handed people) foot, and as you toss your foot steps forward in sync (make sure to toss in front of you and on the side of your hitting shoulder). For me I can do that if I really wanted to, but personally it is easier for me to have a two step approach that way it keeps your momentum going. It doesn't really matter what foot starts out in front of the other as long as the first step is with your right foot (I am right handed), and then as you step into your left foot you toss and swing. Once you master that you can move onto things like a float serve and even a jump serve or topspin, but serving takes energy time and effort so be patient.

Making sure that you are hitting it up wards really helped me Used to hit it like I would a up high five but then acted like I was hitting the sky
