I've always said in my group of friends that the F-5E is the owner of the low-bracket Rank VII, and im quite satisfied that the plane is finally getting the recognition it deserves.
@@SteelxWolf As far as i respect that take, i honestly think that is good to let people know that there are some good planes out there to be played regardless of potential nerfs or even buffs, and escape the mainstream vehicles as the US phantoms or the 2nd Crusader.
The F5, especially the E variant, are the Lotus of the fighter jet world. The size and weight make it a difficult target to hit, and the fact it can go mach 1 is a huge advantage over the only other decent dogfighter you're going to fly against, the F8; which, although on the stat card has a top speed of 2k+km/hr, it struggles to go past mach 1 and rips easy at high speed. The F8 though, is the only thing I've flown that's managed to counter the F5 consistently. The AIM9-D and the unique 9-C give very easy kills
F8e is a beast the best chance you have for beating one is getting into a turn fight and still itll be close. It is far more maneuverable than you expect and has great guns. You forget they have 9cs or dont py attention to the variant of f8 and try to get into a head on just to see the missile pop last second lol. Love it over the prem f5c for that reason. Also its a missile bus compared to f5 but f5e is great agm
I played with 9.7 to 10.7br in the first ~400 matches. My win rate was around +70%. Then something happened and I started entering 11.3br matches all the time. It's not a problem for me, but it's still fun. By the way, don't refuel the plane for 30 or 36 minutes. It negatively affects turn time, acceleration and top speed. 10 to 20 minutes of fuel is best. If you don't use afterburner all the time, there is no problem.
nah you will always run out if you use anything below 30 minutes, because you need to be on full afterburner to maximize the thrust-to-weight ratio. the reason you've been getting uptiered more is because 12.3 was added, meaning 11.3 gets downtiered more often (especially since air superiority)
@@saabportly7487 I have nothing to say about the last one... Anyway, I also use afterburner in dogfights. It doesn't need to be on all the time. For example, don't open it until you get to the middle of the map. I noticed the situation like this: When I loaded fuel for 36 or 30 minutes, the F-5C, F-5A/E (China) were faster than me. When I tested it with 10 to 20 minutes of fuel, I noticed the difference was tremendous. You can also say: I fuel up for 30 minutes and have 10 to 20 minutes left until the middle of the map. But from what I noticed, the fighter accelerates and maneuvers as if it had 30 minutes of fuel, even though it had 10 minutes of fuel left (doesn't change).
I found 20 minutes of fuel works quite well for the F-5E and Mig 21-SMT, as long as you use 1/3 or 1/4 afterburner. Easily goes super sonic, yet still gives 15-22 minutes of afterburner.
The greatest jet in the whole game. I didn’t realize that I wasn’t actually having fun playing this game for years untill I got the F-5. Almost 1k games now. Honestly I should upload my clips of my 1v6 gunfights, and when I’ve killed 2 people with their own team’s missiles in a single game.
@@Tiiliroskis ok, the J7E should be played like a mig 21, it's an ambush aircraft. Get some decent altitude and dive on your targets. The double delta wings on the J7E gives it much better energy retention in turns tho. In short the J7's a great dogfighter, probably the best 1v1 fighter below top tier. Very enjoyable but don't dogfight too early in the game. It has terrific rear aspect missiles, they're extremely fast with good range. Still the fact they're only rear aspect is an issue against uptier aircraft at this BR (F4S and MIG23 ML with radar missiles mostly). Getting altitude vs them is very risky, but not impossible, the J7E has a very potent RWR. Pre flare if needed. You can also play a much secure game flying low too and be more patient but less rewarding. Hope it helps
@@loicalex Altitude?? I thought its better to kiss the ground to avoid the radar rape? Yeah the missiles are weird but sometimes work well. I feel like it retains energy if you turn for short periods but if you do a big turn its all gone.
I used to play the p51 with the 20mm a lot and it taught me trigger discipline. With the f5e I rarely get low on ammo in the guns even after 5 gun kills just because their fire rate isn’t the best and you only have two sharing 560 rounds of ammo. The missiles are alright but in my opinion this plane at 13 min of fuel is a beast in dogfights as long as you don’t make a big mistake. Generally being fast is the best in this plane however it’s turning capability around 600kmh is pretty good in a rate against most players. I typically just find myself third partying until I get a little lower on fuel then I pick single off targets or a small group of players to kill.
oh dang, I didn't realize this plane went down in BR! I have to give it another shot, it used to be my favorite plane but I haven't played it in a while.
In my experience, if you rock a 9J or a 9P (they're the same anyway) from within 1 km they can very usually straight up ignore flares. And smack onto those wonderful afterburners.
I binged 100 games in this thing to grind the f-16 and it was a total power trip. One of the very few vehicles where I felt I could handle any situation, it can either out-turn or out-energy everything it sees. The aim9j's are pretty underrated missiles too since they're not flashy with high range or g-load. They're the perfect definition of a workhorse missile -- they get the job done, even if the F-5 still at heart a gunfighter plane. A big part of its strength is definitely the matchmaker. There are some troublesome foes with very powerful weapons at 11.3 and 11.7, but those more likely get pulled up to max BR to feed the newest jets. The tiny IR signature and UFO-like agility and energy retention does make me wonder if 10.7 is too low for it... but agile planes with limited speed and weapons tend to get the most unjustified BR increases... so I don't know. It feels like too often already a plane's performance is dictated by how bad its uptiers are, and it's nice to have the occasional aircraft that isn't completely obsolete in a +1.0 game.
Everyone is talking about the F5C and F5E but what about the Chinese F5A? It's the same BR as the F5E but how does it fly? I like the look of the F5A more so I'm thinking about flying and spading it instead of the F5E.
It's literally a f5c with 2 9p's/j. I like the f5e better cause it's a direct upgrade, agm65b for ground, 30mm cannon, gun sight, better engine etc. The only thing f5a shines over f5e is more flares and carry more bombs
I like the F5A more than F5E. Its literally just a C with 9Ps so its like 1000 kg lighter than the F5E. For me its way easier to get guns on target and feels overall way more maneuverable and agile
VI'm sorry i know I'm not normal but the F5E, F4E, A7D, A7E, F111A, A4E, F4C will never leave my hangar without their gunpods. The F5-E is still unbelievably nimble still while having the. 30mm pod and 2x AIM 9s. Both the F5s cannons are accurate but not the hardest hitting and the pod puts ALL that to bed along with the opposing team. Get them in close and snipe from about 2.5 km away. Once you get good you find yourself laughing a good amount of the match in disbelief how fast the .30mm completely rips there plane apart of just one hits him with that snipe. 20mm cannons rounds seem to not be able to hit the fat away giving you a nice advantage on any tool trying to head on with you. The A7E and D are absolutely disgusting rocking two of those. 30mm pods plus it's Vulcan. 42.35k+ kg/sec burst.... Yup
the radar gun sight only shows how far you have to calculate for the bullet drop and if the plane is going up or down. I aim slightly ahead and slightly up of the middle of the enemy plane with radar gunsight and i hits almost everytime. Like aim a centimeter above their nose.
5:25 pretty sure they made a post saying that they couldn't get it to work properly yet so it will be implemented in one of the 2024 updates so we have to wait
Such a gorgeous game. I wish I just didn't see it only from the ground battles but also from the air battles. With all that said I'm plannjng on installing it again. Which country and which line should I start with ?
They need to give it the Aim-9H x4 because it could use the Aim-9H Aim-9J's x2 will not cut it if anything they need to give it 4 missiles because IRL it could carry 4 missiles
Yeah i dunno why people bomb with the fighters, you get intercepted more often than not. Better to just be a fighter or in the F-4’s case, a missile bus.
F-5E is probably the only “balanced” 8.7+ plane, it doesn’t suffer against 11.0/11.3/11.7 but at the same time it’s not that scary to face in 9.7-10.0 planes as to face F-16 in MiG-21bis or to face Su-27 in Tornado/F-4S
I am however very dissapointed in your kd with this i expected more, currently i am sitting at 4.8 had a 8 kill game earlies this week( still lost tho)
I usually use the F5E, in sim controls (controller player) to dogfight my buddy in his MiG-29 (on a hotas) and I usually always win. He's able to pull much harder and faster than me but I still always end up on his ass and he's never able to get me off XD
@@rancorusia was fighting a f14 in my su 27 and he was starting to get on my six so I just extended away….. wish I could say I came around and clapped him but the guy just left vehicle…. Lol
You should take 20min of fuel instead of 30. By the time you get to battle you will have about 15mins left and F-5E with low fuel feels like piloting a R-73 because of how insane its agility is.
The F5 alike the F16, is one of those jets where if you understand that you are death incarnate, you pretty much just need to bring more gas to stay in the fight longer xd Let's just hope the F5G and F20 aren't just unobtainable event vehicles so they can be used by literally anyone xd The F5E also has a huge advantage in ground attack during Ground RB due to it's mavericks being boresighted with the nose of the plane. Ideally though, even with the downward angling of other planes such as the A10/F16, you should be able to pre-set the boresight irl to the centerline of your plane, but alas this is impossible in wt 🙄 Thus, the F5 is for the most part superior in maverick attacks due to simplicity of aiming and larger and more obvious locking ability mavericks in third person. . . You are then really only limited by how many you can take and how fast you can spam your mavericks without having to dance your nose around to compensate for missiles that angle down xd
You can actually set a target point or something like that and it'll be the 4 corner red box thing that pops up to show that you designated that as a set target point, any guided munitions or targeting systems besides aam will be slaved to that spot and is also used for ccrp bombing
When I was using the premium draken to grind out the gripen I stayed away from all f5s because I can’t hit my shot with the one gun before I bleed all my speed fighting these silly Billies
Out turn everyone and dominate every mid 21/23 And if you're really feeling funny you can carry a couple AGMs so if the enemy realizes he can outrun you and goes to land on the field you can lock them up from orbit and let the AGM take care of the rest
I really hope they add the F-20 because the F-5 is already super fun so one with a more powerful engine 9Ls and aim120 would be great. It’s like Americas Gripen 😂 smol goober plane.
@Master_Gabe_Gaming oh god plz no There are dedicated tech tree lines for those, and limiting valuable strike aircraft to events always limits tech tree's abilities to perform well in battles against fuller ones! Its like saying a tech tree has per say 15 attack planes, and thus shouldn'tget more, or has a "full lineup of tanks", but yet 12 of the 15 vehicles are event or premium planes hidden behind an exuberant paywall that the majority F2P players cant touch while another team has all tech tree equipment to roflstomp with (or they only receive blatantly op premiums). This practice must end to ensure fun gameplay and to allow people to be able to use an actual variety of vehicles in all tech trees, whether "obsolete" which logically should equate to lower br, or weather they're sidegrades 😠
