The unhook browser extension is exactly what I have been missing from RU-vid since the day I started using it. I always wanted to turn off recommended videos and let myself focus on what I came for. Instead, I was disappointed to find out that the site doesn't allow any type of feature like this. I really wish big platforms like RU-vid, Facebook, Instagram etc. would be responsible for the massive addictive platforms they are running and, in some way, help their users choose to avoid being so incredibly distracted. For example, by allowing users to disable continuous scrolling, recommended videos, or video shorts features. The giant tech companies seem to priorities their economy over their user’s own good, and I really hope that in the future we will see that this is a problem and that something is done about it.

My RU-vid addiction got so bad that I can't stop thinking about youtube all the time both with what will I watch next alongside what will I create next and its extremely mentally torterous when you try to think about literally anything else and simply cant.
I watch youtube because there are so many interesting videos .. at least thats what my brain tells me to think 😅.. so i want to watch as much as i can .. but that is so bad for me .. 99% of the videos i watch are of no value for my life .. but i still „need“ to watch them.. thats addiction 101 🙈🤦♂️💩

Hi I’ve been having trouble quitting I’ve used RU-vid for a really long time and I’m pretty addicted to using the app I’ve tried to stop but it doesn’t work which it’s weird as my attention span is really good I also started going to the gym without headphones to Myabe help but that hasn’t helped either I’m also a gamer so removing thing such as subscriptions or the homepage doesn’t help as I can just search up the name of a game I play and find tons of content on it easily any tips I would appreciate it.
If it wasn’t for the underground music I wouldn’t use YT at all. I use music to motivate myself to do productive tasks, and as such I spend hours on RU-vid per day(although not actually looking at the screen). I also have content, but I’m not trying to get YT famous, I’m trying to help men with mental health issues. I’m not reaching my target audience and I get less than 150 views. I’m probably just going to quit making content.
I wanna know how to get all these thousands of viewers or view hours to become subscribers. I feel like I'm stalking youtube trying to push the number of subscribers for my channel (Flo Dynasty) further. That's where my addiction comes in. I'm watching to see if there are comments, if there was something wrong in my videos, to see if someone can help me grow the channel faster or make my editing quicker, or even to see what the first monetization check might look like. There needs to be a RU-vidr support group or something.
