When I discovered this, it became one of my favourite Big Push Songs it's magical.

Offensively underrated is spot on. Glossed over by many but it is one of their finest songs imo and really showcases not just their talent but their willingness to experiment and confidence in their craft. This song is one that sets them apart from nearly every other band out there imo - it's breathtakingly beautiful.

You're right, it's a melodica. I've only seen it played in some contemporary Russian music. This is one of my favorite The Big Push songs. I've always wished we could have the lyrics because there are parts of it I don't understand. I'd also like to know who primarily wrote it. My bet would be Goron, with Ren arranging the harmonies. I agree with you, it's offensively underrated.

Band in a box challenge was a thing years ago, Mitch and Scott from pentatonix on their channel Superfruit they played the melodic first time I had seen that instrument, fun to watch they had to make a song. When I first heard this, it came to me as a cross between a medieval piece that Ed Sheeran would do in The Game of Thrones, and a something from Crosby, Stills and Nash mixed with an instrumental from The Godfather when Ren played the melodica. The thing is.. it works! Even if they were performing this in a church, I could just imagine them doing this in a castle. You just can't put these guys in a box. They do not discriminate! What bothered me though is in the description, it said Swan Song (Cover).. Can anyone tell me what artist they covered? Or is it a live cover of their original? Or is it a cover of some bard/minstrel in circa 1400's? I appreciate your reaction on this Zack. I don't care how many times you pause..

My nephew is like Ren with instruments & my brother’s hobby is finding new instruments for him to learn. They’ve got quite the collection, especially of odd stringed instruments of various origins. I always think of him every time I see this video. 🙂💜

Great song :) Thanks for doing this one- somehow I'd missed this one too. On ren playing that -whatever its called- it is basically a keyboard- and weve seen him play those before :) tho ofcourse you can do intonation with how hard you blow so there is some differences.

Don’t know if I’ve mentioned, but I’m really glad you’re doing Rens discography. Pretty sure I’ve seen em all. Can we just sit back and marvel at the fact that we still have not heard a bad song from Ren or The Big Push. There’s maybe 1 or 2 that weren’t my taste, but still sonically good.
