There's no right or wrong in a personal favourite list, but it's always fun to see how other whisky lovers choices correspond or differ from your own. In my case, I don't have a daily drinker (but of the ones you listed, I'd be happy with Bunnahabhain 12); what I offer guests is usually whatever is newest on my shelves; I'm retired, so Fridays are indistinguishable from any other day; I almost never mix cocktails; and every day is a special occasion. 😅

Thanks again for your support and comments Chuck. I always love to read em! Based on your posts you are a guy that loves variety and good quality malts. I know you got some really awesome bottles kicking around for those exceptional times! Cheers my friend!

Great list and if you could get a bottle of your Special Occasion ?!?! That would be wild. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Jon. I’ll have to starting making friends with Calum and Mr Grant to get that bottle lol. Thanks for the comment and hope you enjoyed the video! Cheers sir!

I always struggle with this, because the categories don't fit my lifestyle: most days I don't drink alcohol at all; I live in a tiny flat/apartment, so I don't have room for guests; I gave up cocktails/mixed drinks years ago; as for the other commenter, Friday nights are no different. However, I can answer the Special Occasion category: my two 'birthday drams' are Highland Park - The Dragon 1961 (my birth year bottle) and Ledaig 42 year old Dùsgadh (my most expensive bottle so far). If I changed some of the categories, something I would pick for 'priming the pumps' ahead of a tasting session might be (pre-Scotch) Compass Box Oak Cross, Dewar's White Label, The Feathery or (pre-bourbon) Four Roses Yellow (now beige!) Label. When trying to impress people, it usually involves sets of samples and they are tailored to the individual, but I occasionally attend bottle-shares and have McKenzie Single Barrel Bourbon, Cut Spike Single Malt, a somewhat mysterious Japanese whisky and The Whisky Exchange Clynelish 18 'Retro Label' lined up for those. Oh, I sometimes put Famous Grouse in my coffee to stave off a cold, so that might count as a mixed drink...

Thanks for the great comment back Andrew. I agree the categories don’t suit all but it’s still a fun and thought provoking process to get down to just 5. Your 2 Special Occasion drams sounds amazing! The Ledaig 42 year especially. I appreciate you taking the time to comment and glad you enjoyed the video. Cheers sir.

-Guilt free pour, Goderham & Warts -Impress a guest, I've always got a couple of Blantons around. -Everyday mixer, Forty Creek copper pot. -Friday night, Arran the Bodega sherry cask finished. -Special occasion, Lot 40 port cask, or that bottle of Bookers hiding in the back of the cabinet.

Awesome list Brad! Thanks for sharing. Big fan of Forty Creek and Arran! I have not tried the Lot 40 Port but and going to start hunting as it sounds right up my alley. Cheers sir, thanks for the comment!

Really solid list mate! I would love to try a Glenfarclas 40, I bet that's a dram you'd still taste after years :) Cheers 🥃

This is one reason why enjoy these kinds of videos: unique, personal, individual choice & preference: Ardbeg An Oa- I haven't had the pleasure yet. My brother almost gave it to me for my birthday, but the store he went to didn't carry it- almost! Daily might be Tomatin Legacy Impress guests: Adelphi Blended Scotch Like two other gentlemen said, I don't really mix- unless I'm experimenting with coffee- kind of a blank category... I'll get back to you Friday Night: Ardbeg Uigeadial Special Occasion is currently the Deanston 12 Year, 2008 Oloroso Cask Matured. One last comment about these videos is you find people that do only scotch, or bourbon, or rarely something from every country (like Jon, the Whisky Neighbour did). Someone COULD make 2-5 different videos like this: one Scotch, one bourbon, one Canadian, one Irish, or one about personal preference, regardless of which whisky country or category its from: its their personal list. Cheers, Skål Slàinte Mhath 🇨🇦 🥃 🇬🇧 🥃 🇺🇸 🤝 🇮🇪

Thanks for the comment Ben! Great list also. Yes this list became very personal and somewhat controversial at my whisky club haha. There is nothing in the rules about stepping out side into different areas, in fact I had considered 99 Maple Cask as a Mixer but once again after really thinking it over I stayed with Islay Mist. I agree you could go all over the place with these videos. The personal touch is what I enjoy and introducing folks to different things. Variety is key in whisky. Thanks again for the comment. Cheers sir.

I like all your selections, the only thing I would really change is the one to impress your guests.. most people I know while might enjoy a dram of scotch don't really care for peated whiskeys.. so I would probably offer the Glendronach 15 or the GlenAllachie 15 which is quickly becoming one of my favorites, and my current daily driver is the Glenmorangie 14 Quinta Ruban, a great whiskey with a no guilt price tag..... Cheers!

Thanks for the comment Chris. Great choices for the impress a guest, I love the Glendronach 15 and the GlenAllachie 15 too just wish it had a little less pepper from the PX. If you like the Quinta Ruban, you should really try the Tomatin 14. Cheers and glad you enjoyed the video!

Awesome YON5W video Tyler, glad you took the challenge on! I love Glenfarclas so seeing it pop up twice makes me happy! I'd love to try that 40 year old one day, I'm sure it's one gorgeous dram. Cheers man and thanks for the shout out! Keep up the great work. 🥃

Thanks Matt for the comment and the encouragement to go and get this video done. Was a ton of fun and was a great conversation driver at my local whisky club (where I presented the Glenfarclas 15). Cheer and looking forward to a bounce back in game 3. Cheers and Go Canucks! Go!

Solid list. Wondering if you are standing in the LCBO now and are staring up at the Farclas 12 at 121 and the Bunna 12 at 105, are you still taking the Farclas?

Wow Peter, you are correct. I feel like I just saw the 12 at $107 a week or so ago!!! Well in that case if I am being absolutely honest, I will stick with Glenfarclas and source from western Canada (in fact I may upgrade to the 15 but not as a daily pour). This is the 2nd increase in Glenfarclas since Nov 2023. I will have to reach out to my buddy who is the importer and see what’s up. On a plus…I see the 105 is $128. I would grab it for that price if you see it in the wild. It’s is really great and a bargain cask strength. Thanks for the comment and the info. Cheers.
