in my experience, def break on neutral units are almost always targeted over units where you have elemental advantage, sometimes the unit and their skill plays into it, but there's also a threshold where a unit attempts to "last hit" another unit regardless of type (attack, HP, etc.) or element

I experienced this too. I got Dias but she didn't attack my Dias. Asked my guildies and no one knew why.

Really recommended to bring a Leo against any Beast Rider. Otherwise their dmg will be insane due to apd scaling skills and lapping your mons effectively getting 2 turns every turn.
