Diluc was my first 5 star character and his story was the first one I ever played. If it wasn’t for him I doubt I would be still playing Genshin impact today.

Diluc's passive is just another victim of "old experimental kit" which devs are rejecting to fix

i've been playing Diluc for the last several days, after giving him a long break. i can confirm: he's still fun.

I mean they need to keep drawing players by creating tons of characters so getting powercrept is inevitable. So having spotlight on old characters by giving cool outfit that also change voicelines and sound effects is really neat idea

I describe Diluc as a "comfort character" he is okay, bit very low stress to use which counts for alot.

As a Diluc main since the beginning, I can assure you he's still fun to play! I have another DPS characters such as Eula or Childe, but I just can't get tired of Diluc, sure, there are better DPS characters than him, but he's been carrying me since forever, and he was the one who helped me getting 36 Stars for the first time 🥺 (And Itto too)

Personally I love Diluc and his playstyle.

I have both triple crowned Hutao with Homa and single crowned Diluc with r5 Serpent. While my Hutao deals x2+ the damage of my Diluc, I still use Diluc more because he cool af. Since i can already 36* with Diluc, using Hutao wouldn't get me anymore star even if i clear faster. Style > Damage for me.

He is still good, and with his new outfit I'm loving him even more, I still use him in the abyss ( one of my top DPS) I think no matter how many other characters do come out, he'll always have a top spot for us diluc lovers 😂

Diluc was actually the first Character I pulled. It was 2am when I screamed out of joy. He carried me through 1.0 until now and he will stay in my heart forever.

hopefully they somehow change his passive which is unlikely, cause one passive can change a character's playstyle and make them a completely different unit

I’m an F2P player since the existence of the game and not gonna lie, ever since I got him almost 2 years ago, I’ve played him a lot and I mean a lot! I can clear the abyss with 36 stars with him, do vapes, melts, overloads, … and that switch between normal and his E is really really satisfying. He’s a fantastic character and even with a 4* weapon, he can achieve pretty good numbers. Love your videos!!

Good to see some Diluc love. It took me over a year to get him and I've loved him ever since using him in the early story quests. His attack chain feels so slick and c'mon - who doesn't love chucking a phoenix at enemies from their massive claymore!? Thanks for the video!

Diluc's kit is actually good if you look at it in an objective way. Low cost burst, and a string of skill and of course the infusion part. His numbers are lower compared to other DPS, but he'a a decent DPS and a kit that works well together

🌸❤️It must be said in no uncertain terms, that though I never miss any chance to slight or make fun of Diluc and Childe, in Diluc’s case, he is a solid unit. It is so that no one can take that away from Diluc, he is good, maybe not the best Pyro Dps as of more recent time, but he is solid and simple and that makes him brilliant. I feel that most just have new character fever, and thus they tend to down play the old❤️🌸

Melt *Diluc* is also fun with his brother :D Also his "biggest problem" from the past - as in, he throws stuff away - is slowly becoming a feature, as heavy / shielded enemies whose stances we need to break (with "poise" damage) value his Claymore numbers and even the dreaded Overload reaction.

When i first started playing Genshin Impact, I wanted a 5 five star character so bad so later on i got Diluc as my first 5 star character. When i found out that Diluc is rare and hard to get, i was soo happy and felt lucky. I have been using Diluc as my main dps up to this day. Also i like his red hair hehehe.

He has really good stagger but we dont have enough stuff that we need to use stagger on. His whole kit is very solid

I play Diluc regularly before his new outfit came out and he’s been my second team dps for the abyss. Once I got his new outfit I was really happy with the new look and I’ve been playing him a little more casually as well.

I’m maining Diluc in my alt account since my main account is already AR60 and yes, Diluc is still good. You just have to learn his proper rotation and cancelling to always have his skill and burst up. I find Diluc’s skill one of the best since you get 3 hits and the cooldown is very manageable.

After Sumeru update, this hits a little different. It seems that a lot of thing Mr. Gacha Gamer wished for Diluc did happen, like the retriburgeon revamp. And even without burgeon, I'm glad to see that people still understand the value in melt and vape Diluc.

Personally as someone who uses Diluc, He isn't the best in terms of meta but I personally think he's really good and can dish out decent numbers. At least he's hot tho!

Diluc has been my main dps since ar 37, (i had to bench Razor immediately) and I still haven't changed that. I use him with Benny, Raiden and Childe (for vape comps and faster er% with buff atk) and a pretty average CW set. I do not care much for 36* the abyss, but I do have a LOT of fun playing Diluc. Never got hu tao or yoimiya, so I triple crowned him and never once regretted it. all hail Mondstadt's Batman.

if you like diluc, compare yourself to other dilucs if you want to see how strong you are. who cares about other units, they're not playing by the same rules. as long as you're doing well in the dilucuniverse, who cares about hutao? having the strongest diluc is way cooler than having a mid hutao, even if the mid hutao is stronger.

his burst should insted make the bird swirl around him like 2 times and then go upward. that way all hit register, no knocking enemy far away, good pyro apply that could use after Ayaka burst etc.

I love him and his playstyle. No matter how weak he is, I still play the character I love. I really do hope they will care for old characters.

I just 36 starred abyss with him so yes, he’s useable and extremely fun

my 1st 5 star was Diluc, I have him in the vault for almost a year at C6 , recently with 2.8 new outfit I got motivated and build him up, i give him 4 pieces Atq % because i don't have a Crimson Witch set yet and Serpent Spine R5 and he is awesome, fun to play and so strong, i definitely feel he becomes stronger in Sumeru, Long live Diluc ✌🏾😊🔥💪🏾

If we had a Xingqui or Yelan that triggers not on normal attacks but on damaging opponents, then his passive would be more useful.

He's outdated, but he's still my favorite character and has the best playstyle of the Pyro DPS I own. The E>N>E>N>E combo just feels satisfying to do, and way less annoying to pull off then Hu Tao's combo

I feel like this release of his new outfit would have been a perfect time to rebalance diluc and give him a bit of a buff but nope once against mihoyo shows once a character is out unless china gets mad we will not see changes.

He is still insanely fun and a delightful Unga bunga no brain required unit. He came home for me on the welcome banner and carried me all the way to AR43 where Eula took over. I've been breaking him out more again... Especially since I just got his C4.... And I still think he is a wonderful unit.

Not me accidentally using Melt Diluc for the longest time just because Diluc, Kaeya and Rosaria are my favorite genshin characters.😅

I always said to myself, I will "Re-Use" Diluc after i get either 5* claymore (Didn't have any back then) or R5 Rainslasher (Didn't have it back then again) and i did get 5* claymore, so i reused diluc (he was my carry back then so he was invested already) the new abyss starts and i used the exact same team you showed (Diluc, Rosaria, Sucrose, Bennett) on first half, and used hutao in second half with double hydro (I wanted to use 2 pyro dps in both half, and hutao shreds the ruin snake really well). All i can say is, hes so refreshing to play. I forgot how nice his burst look especially with the new skin. I forgot how Satisfying His hits are I forgot how Amazing His JP VA is, especially with the new voicelines from the new skin I forgot how satisfying it is, that his burst would launch a horde of enemy in abyss from one side to the other side AND doing fall damage at the end And Lastly I forgot how braindead and slow paced his combos are, compared to characters like Hutao If i can compare him right now, he's like heizhou, they're useable, not SUPER meta, but their hits are really satisfying to feel, hear, and play, its like their hits actually "Hits" and "Trembles" to put it roughly. I mean i myself can clear abyss easily, so i can have fun with units that are less meta, so talking from a prespective of a late game player might be differs from a player that is still trying to push ever little stats, every little rotation and rng in abyss just to clear abyss, so please take it with a grain of salt - From A Retired AR 60 Diluc Main Trying To Have Fun

Diluc is perfectly designed. It's just that other characters are so poorly designed with over-inflated numbers and overloaded kits that they power crept him.

The passive with the Charged Attack is pretty good when I tried playing Diluc for Shatter dmg. This was an attempt to find a use of that passive. With that attack speed and duration coupled with a very consistent rate of freezing like Ayato's burst + Chongyun's infusion, it was fun hearing crash noises on almost every hit. Using the Rainslasher on an EM Diluc and C6 Rosaria helps on increasing the Shatter dmg.

He still husbando whenever i didn't do any on genshin. Listen to his jp va on teapot make me relaxed~

Diluc has been a main for me since I got him off the original Klee banner. Best 50/50 loss ever. Hu Tao smokes him in deeps, but.. I keep finding myself playing him over her. I generally play him in a "Bouncer Comp" with Baal, Zhong, and Jean. I can't say it's synergized, but it certainly launches mobs like spacex.🤪

Diluc is still one of the most powerful DPS in the game, even at C0. If he ever becomes a free character in the future, than I highly recommend him for beginners.

First off, his hew outfit is THE most beautiful thing in the game. You can fight me on that. Second, yoimiya and hu tao can deal more single target DPS than diluc, but they can't get anywhere near his aoe DPS from his burst. His damage is also still more than enough to clear abyss 12 so idk why people complain about it. He's amazing! I've mained him since I got him in 1.5

Glad you mentioned his almost useless passive. I would love it if MHY would rebalance old characters, but considering how niche newer characters can be I seriously doubt they've considered doing so.

I’ve been using melt diluc for a while and it’s pretty fun although I don’t do it the way everyone else does, I get his burst up while vapourising with xingqui then I use rosaria and Mona to freeze everything then use dilucs burst to melt it all and repeat, dysfunctional but still works

Dragon Striking is one of the reasons i like to play him

I have Raiden & Ganyu and I still use him as my main dps even if his damage is less he is way more flexible in combos

I'm a low AR and Diluc is my first 5 Star and it's my current main, since i dont have many characters, i use him with anemo traveler (for elemental mastery), chongyun (just for a support) and beidou My combo Is to add electro on the enemy, boost it with traveler and use beidou's burst, then Diluc's burst and keeo doing His charged attack

His C6 could have been his ascension passive just like Itto's.

Diluc is my second 5* after Tartaglia, and both has been my main for more than a year. I knew I had to build Diluc properly ever since I got C1 and WGF, I wish someday I can C6 him, all his constellations looks great. So yes, while he's rarely in the exploration party anymore, he's still so reliable in Spiral Abyss, I used him a lot in there. Dude didn't get old yet.

The ONE and ONLY character I could not get, no matter how many times I lose my 50/50, hell, even the standard banner won't give me one. I could, in all honesty, have 3-4 Keqings reach max constellation.

Diluc main here, and i can say he can actualy be pretty good, way better then peaple think, he can reach hu tao levels of damege... if the gatcha helps you out. You see, there's one team comp type that can boost his damege so much without using zhongli and bennet that somehow is even better then with then, and use characters that aren't optimal on many comps, that's the dragonstrike comp, the reason it works so well with diluc are: 1: he's tall, so he neads less movement spead buffs to acheive the necessary speed for the dragonstrike tech. 2: his plunge attack have one of the highest plunge attack damege multipliers in the game, dealing almost as much damege as his elemental burst when the pyro infusion is on (so it can be affected by pyro damege bonus). 3: an this is the big one, his plunge attack have no elemental aplication ICD when infused with pyro by his elemental burst, so you can spam plunge attacks as much as you can and they'll all vaporise, so the downtime you usualy get betwen elemental skills that you hit without vaporising are gone. 4: and since you vaporise way more often, and vaporize an attack with way higher damege multipliers then his normal attack or elemental skill, this does way more damege then a regular zhongli + bennet comp, in fact, a vaporising diluc plunge attack can do so much damege, his plunge attacks deal more damege the xiao's burst plunge attacks with the same level of investment, as long as you actualy vaporise diluc's plunge attacks. 5: you avoid most damege couse you're in the air so often you jump over most attacks, and diluc's plunge attack have so much stagger that you'll most likely stunlock most enemies. There are many ways to acheive it, and i will put then on a list from the most f2p frendly to the least: 1: dionna: her shield increase his movement speed enough for the dragonstrike tech to work, however you can't use her burst couse it will mess up his rotations, and her shield downtime can be hard to manege, you can also combine this comp with bennet to increase the damege and do the healing dionna cold not do since her burst mess up diluc's reactions (since he uses a claymore, even with his pyro attacks, he causes shatter on frozen enemies instead of melt). 2: 2 anemo character, with one of then being either jean or sayu (2 characters that are rare) for healing and then a crowd control anemo unit, couse then you can use anemo ressonance for the speed buff, and you can equip the crowd control character with verdecent set and the healer with nobless oblige, this will give him way more consistent dragonstrikes. 3: C2 jean, this is the most whale option, jean c2 give enough movement speed bonus to do the dragonstrike, and isn't breakable like dionna's shield, and allows you to choose either bennet or zhongli to acompany this comp, wich becomes even better then a dragonstrike comp without any of then, wich is already better then a comp with zhongli and bennet without dragonstrike.

In the end.. This game is all about team comps and ARTIFACTS not on a single unit alone.

Recently, I got tired of playing Genshin when I was about to reach AR 60. I first thought it was because of running out of content, which in first glance sounds reasonable. But I realized I should be blaming it not on the game, but how I play the game. I recently replaced my artis and Amos Bow from Ganyu to Amber as a joke to see if the equipment of my strongest DPS which I use to complete every single challenge, easy or hard, can make Amber strong too. But who am I joking 😂? I ended up completing my Daily Comms, Resin Drains, even in my exploration double or triple the time; and that is how I experienced "fun" again. I can no longer complete Comms within 3 mins. Enemies now won't die within one charge shot. Oceanid suddenly became a pain in the butt once again. And that frustration, thrill, and simply the challenge that playing Amber brought gave me back the experiences when playing Ganyu used to be like Amber, where enemies pose a threat, that they can't be killed with one arrow. Now I realized I was playing the game wrong, I mean very limitedly as I reach my 650th day of playing it. I have a lot of characters yet I only subjected myself to using only what the community thinks who are strong and worthy. Yes, I still need them for Spiral Abyss, but do I still need to use someone like Hu Tao who I *always* use for just a couple of hilichurls in Comms when I can use Diluc who is *dusting away* in my character list. Playing with other characters might be your "breath of fresh air". Maybe you can try building Kaeya after min maxing your Ayaka or finally play Keqing instead of your Raiden Shogun? If you need something new, then create it yourself until the next big update. Though this is just a suggestion of course that can be considered. If you're just burnt out, then stop playing, but if you're still interested but just bored, maybe this suggestion can be for you.

idk why i havent seen people use blackcliff slasher on diluc, its pretty good on my diluc doe and it fits the color scheme of diluc and its ability to increase damage each enemy he has killed which is pretty useful for him cuz he pretty much decimates alot of enemies.

I've been running Diluc with Ganyu and Diona as a melt combo team, but Rosaria and Kaeya will definitely work as well. Benefit of using Ganyu as melt support is the long duration burst, and in the event that Diluc fails to oneshot whatever he's hitting, just switch to Ganyu and shoot it for a reverse melt hit.

I started playing in 1.2 when rerolling was still somewhat doable and rerolled accounts until i got any 5 star. it was recommended to me and I had no idea which 5 stars existed back then so I didnt really aim for Diluc or anyone else in specific. anyway I did get Diluc after a few rerolls and fell in love with his playstyle and character instantly and nothing changed till this day. i also love the skin very much, the deeper new sound effects on his 3 strikes from the skill are so satisfying

I'm the rare person who had great luck in the crimson witch domain. I bought Dilucs skin loving playing him again. He was my first 5* and carried my account from like ar10 to ar50.

Diluc is still my main DPS until now, and I gave him 3 crowns. My main team abyss are: Diluc, Ei, Benny, and Zhongli I know people would say that overload team is bad, but this team is fun in my opinion: lots of energy from Ei, heal and buff from Benny (mine is C6), and shield from Zhongli

I feel nostalgic whenever you mention diluc because it reminded me of your old tierlist back when the game started. I miss feeling hyped every update, i miss showing off my keqing and diluc to my friends, i miss when i was still curious and passionate about this game. Now, it's just grind, log out, grind, log out.

I think as a gacha game maybe in the second anniversary there can be an EX system giving another elemental skill, a new passive and raising the level cap. Something like War of The Visions

Nice one there! I used Diluc a lot in the early days of genshin, leaving him rest just becouse a like changing teams often, even in inefficent way. Never understood why people hate him; he's strong in his simplicity, to be honest, and that's why sometimes i like to put him to work again. Thanks for the video!

I have him at c2 since launch and he's at 90 so I gave him a try again, he's still very fun to play

Diluc was my first five star that came home the night before my birthday ended.

It's a promising concept but not well executed. He should be a fun mix in between a sustained DPS and burst DPS character with CC built in on top, but he excels at nothing. (Hu Tao on the other side excels at everything far too good, but that's a different balance issue) His burst needs to push back enemies further with every proc of damage, so that they are in place for the last bigger AoE when the Phoenix disappears. The main damage of his burst occurs at the beginning with the slash and at the end after all. Sadly YOU WILL NEVER PUSH YOUR ENEMIES WHERE THEY NEED TO BE. This faulty mechanic makes the whole windup animation of his burst not worth it and you objectively lose time for spiral abyss clears whenever you use dilucs burst. But you need it for the pyro infusion, there is the dilemma. And even if it worker perfectly, you push enemies miles away from you, so you waste additional time not damaging them because you need to reach them again and again. His C1 is awkward and kind of bad, they need to make it as strong as ayatos C1. His C2 is only effective when you play without shields which is a must in harder content for a melee character! He needs a small fix and revamp to be truly a 5*, but since hoyoverse doesn't do that kind of thing, he will always be benched due to his shortcomings and countless better options.

Do you think Mihoyo will change some character cons in the future? So that they can become popular again. Characters like QiQi , Keqing, maybe some 4 stars too hm.

even tho i have hutao crowned i still use Diluc in abyss XDD i got him recently, i was dreaming about him, im ar 58. And im very satisfied. I have wolf's gravestone, but i can't really balance crits because crimson witch domain hurts, but i will keep working on him until i get best results!
