First of all, the heart there is in a container so it didn't even hit the ground. But also a surgeon once explained to me that organs falling to the ground in transfer is something that has happened lots of times. If it happens the organ needs to be checked and cleaned. Most of the times the tissue doesn't get badly damaged, so they can be used afterwards no problem. Organs are far too precious to throw them away just because "a little dirt" got on them (the floors in operation rooms are very clean, so not much 'dirt' there to begin with). The only problem is that cleaning takes time and the patients state might worsen those minutes. So organs should be handled with care, but accidents can and will happen.
Organs are tougher than we give them credit for, but we do still need to make sure. iPhone says they're impossible to break, but people still manage to break them
Between the smooth gloves and slippery organs is it any wonder they sometimes get dropped? I figure the patient will be on a load of antibiotics anyway after surgery so just rinsing off any debris should be fine.
@@olaraa you should see mine, idk how many times ive dropped it and its still good, though im definitely not someone who would really get it damaged since i rarely leave the house and when i do i generally dont take my phone out of my pocket
Cats are a reverse non newtonian fluid: they are normally solid but turn liquid under pressure. Edit: y'all right, that's still just a non newtonian fluid.
A non Newtonian fluid is a fluid that changes viscosity depending on pressure for example oobleck is sheer hardening meaning it gets harder with pressure but shower gel is sheer thickening meaning it gets less viscous with pressure
As someone that worked in a gas station people who spilled fuel such as at 1:00, which rarely happened, were an annoyance. Small amount of fuel was easy to deal with by pouring water over the area to dilute it right down. However large spills like that requires sand or kitty litter, yes kitty litter, to soak it up before it went into the drains, then shovel it up and put it into bags for disposal.
In my schools auto shop we used Kitty litter to clean oil, petrol or any other flammable liquid spill. But could you imagine the amount you’d have to use on that spill. I feel bad for the attendee.
but the pump as a thing to stop it when the tank is full right ? so it's the pump's manufacturers fault imo (except if they don't in the us but in france they all have that)
@@Ncaron531 most, if not all, pump do have such a device that stops the pump when the tank is full but many gas station also add a small attachment to the handle that lets you continue pumping while your hand is not on it. Most likely such a device was on the pump and jammed the handle to where it couldn’t stop. Also they shouldn’t have left the pump unattended
So the guy shot through a McGraw Hill book and if you're not familiar with the company. They produce educational books for school. They also charge a life for 1 maybe 2 books. So once that bullet hit that book it only got half way through before it got depressed. 🤣
Bro I hate Mcgraw Hill books with a burning passion. I will literally hunt whoever created McGraw-Hill down and spill spaghetti on all their white t-shirts
10:20 our kittens learn stuff from us, too, the dogs start barking at the back door to be let in, and one of the cats jumps up next to the handle to try and open the door, cats are smart buggers, aren't they?
Our cat locked my parents out. thankfully my brother was inside the house so he unlocked it but man what a bastard after asking her what had she done she demonstrated what she had done to us, the nerve i tell ya
10:53 That kinda hurt. The first Jurassic Park movie looked amazing and still can hold up. The weird thing is, that CGI actually got worse over the years, because it was overused and got too obvious.
Absolute facts. Too many companies started overusing CGI, rather than practical effects, and practical effects usually stand up to the test of time much better than CGI. The most realistic looking CGI looks dated within a few years. Yeah, there are a few scenes that definitely look dated in the original, but overall, it still looks fantastic.
@@Victor-mm2jb I think it's also because CGI got cheaper. Every crappy C- and D-movie nowadays uses cheap CGI, and cheap equals really bad here. Back in the 1990s and early 2000s CGI was expensive, so only really expensive movies that were guaranteed to bring in money or higher-budget TV shows could afford CGI. So except for CGI-junkies (George Lucas...) most movies didn't overuse CGI.
@6:09 For anyone who doesn’t know, that’s a clip from a TV show called ‘Balls of Steel’ with ‘The Annoying Devil’ as a recurring segment/character if you want to see more things like this.
It's not the thickness of the books, it's the having to penetrate many individual layers that slows/stops the projectile. Anti-tank defenses are more efficient when they use many thin layers than one thick ones, even when the overall depth is much, much less. Saw examples at a tank museum and it's impressive to see the results.
2:51 from google - "Cats are able to squeeze through spaces that seem narrower than they are because cats don't have a rigid collarbone to block their way through nooks and crannies. Once they can get their head and shoulders through, their sleek bodies present no further obstacle. That's if those bodies are sleek, of course" In other words, if a cat fits its head and shoulders through a small gap with murderous intent, start praying
I worked at a couple gas/petrol stations for several years. When spills like that occur, we use cat litter to absorb the gasoline and sweep it up. For additional safety, we also block access to the pump where the spill occurred. Thankfully, I've only had to do that twice in the years I worked there.
8:41 - Now I wanna see someone throw a knife really hard at those books just to see if books are also knife-proof. People call bullshit that Jotaro could hide books under his uniform to protect himself from a vampire's knives, but if a book can stop a bullet in less than half a book, I think it could stop knives or at least reduce the amount of knife that pierces one's skin.
Ummm... yes, one book could easily block a knife... Especially since that book has a hard cover. A person with a knife has so much weaker penetration power than a gun. I was wondering how many books could a stronger gun and bullet penetrate.
@@versuzzero5335 Granted, in Jotaro's case, he was defending himself against a vampire, which is much stronger than a normal human. In that case, I could see maybe barely piercing a hard-cover book and dealing minimum damage to Jotaro himself.
Well it would probably need to be thrown with more power than a gun could produce. At least that caliber. As Dio is strong enough to throw around large steam rollers and he was throwing those knives with a decent amount of force. So maybe a large crane throwing it at someone?
yeah when there is gas spill you have to put absorbent matter, cat litter most of the time, us truckers always have a bin of this near the fuel station but it's always empty because the people who's job it is to fill it up are too lazy.
In texas with an amount that large you let the clerks know and also contact gire dept. They will clean it up since the store not always gonna carry absorbent for some reason...
Uploaded four seconds ago. I've never been this early. edit: 1:23 You need to inform the station attendant or if there isn't one, you need to call emergency services. DO NOT START YOUR CAR! That's a major fire hazard right there and you don't want to do anything that might cause a spark. You also need to keep people away from the area.
In both cases, they have access to super absorbent material, and can also wall of the spill so it doesn´t end up in the nature. They also have signs, and can help push your car from the area without starting it.
“A match would clean that up real quickly” -Jake Famous Last Words (You’re at a gas station, think of the consequences. Sure it’ll clean it up instantly but side effects include a massive explosion
With a full belly, most gators are indifferent to people and other distractions. A hungry gator would have done a better job of lurking unseen; this old boy was sitting high in the water.
Not only did the patient get a 2nd hand heart, but it was dropped by both a helicopter and a medical personell. I mean all hearts will be 2nd hand, but... what kind of superpower will that patient have now? Ground Man! or Drop Man!
Called it on the book. :) There are stories of soldiers getting shot but they had a religious book such as the bible in their pocket and it took the shot. Also, gators are usually pretty chill. If he's full, he didn't care.
The thing is, cats are made of oobleck and when they want to, they just relax and can then slip through any crevices and sometimes even enter the cat dimension
4:50 I can do same with english and say "look guys, english bad", you just don't have that many round-ish letters as they do. Also they usually make like a horisontal mark at the bottom of the letter so you know which wigly bit is which.
these hearts are not just transferred bare... they come in a case that keeps it sterile. so dropping it (unless the concussion somehow damages it) would not infect it.
1:35 I used to work at a gas station/convenience store. I never dealt with a gas spill, but the covered it in orientation. They use these long, pool noodle looking things called boom tubes to put around the outside of the spill so that it doesn’t spread any farther. Then they take this stuff that looks like gravel or kitty littler and sprinkle it into the spill until it’s covered and that absorbs the gasoline. Scoop it up and put it in a bag or bucket, call a number to pick it up because that shit can’t be thrown in the dumpster, and the spill is cleaned up.
10:52 did you really just put down the first Jurassic Park movie? It literally redefined the limits of special effects from the early 90s to now, and apart from one single scene, where they had to use CGI for the T-Rex in daylight for a few seconds, it stands up to anything made since.
That guy in "Satan" outfit, that scene is from a UK sketch show called Balls of Steel and he is known as the Annoying Devil. My favourites are A.D. and Neg.
I don't think a lot of people realize just how strong and durable wood and paper actually is, I remember of reading a science book that actually explained how a relatively average chunk of, I believe Ashwood, can hold up the weight of an average house. Not to mention the Mythbusters did an episode where they took 2 phone books and put each piece of paper on top of another so the two book's pages overlapped each other one by one. They ended up having to get construction machines in order to overcome the friction from the paper and even THEN, the books ended up only ripping apart. Nature is awesome. Scary, but awesome.
I will never understand how people start there gas then go sit in the vehicle. That pump stop trigger is not fail proof. Yeah it doesn't happen often, but twice in my life (46) it has not worked but both times I was standing right there.
Layers, like a book, are extremely good at transferring energy just like water. That's why books (when bound) stops bullets and when shot through water they move maybe a foot. All depends on the caliber, but the results are largely the same.
There's some old video games that say bulletproof software when you turn them on and I'm like one if the cartridge really was bulletproof that a really small Target to hit so you wouldn't really be able to use it to protect yourself during a gun fight but okay.
8:45 haaa... those ppl buying expensive bullet proof vests, when all they had to do is tape a really thick book on themselves... like the old man with his pans in that buster scruggs movie... the old dude that kept shouting "pan shot" XD
1:25 what do you do? You get an employee who comes out with these pads to soak it up and this cat litter stuff afterwards. It’s very dangerous and *always* get an employee!!! As someone who has worked at a gas station, it sucks cleaning it up … but I’d rather know & clean it up than potentially explode (when people just drive off and the next person is a smoker who blows up the whole area!)
