I don't always agree with everything Piers but he his totally correct Bellingham, Foden, Kane, Rice and Saka have all been below par so far. On reading an Article from the Chelsea Chronicle yesterday these stats popped up.. The problem with English football as a whole is the English media. They tend to be overly enthusiastic and full of praise at times, yet overly critical and quick to assign blame at others, even name call the very players that got them they are this far.

I think there’s a factor here no one seems to be acknowledging. These players aren’t playing in 11 degree Celsius weather in March in Manchester. They are playing and training in upwards of 22 to 30 degree weather. Which makes “playing like your in premier league “ very difficult. Yes it’s not Saudi temperatures. But it’s enough to make it near impossible to press the same way as they would in the Prem. maybe it explains why Spanish teams play with a slow build up, because they are adapted to these conditions and they know a high press for 90 mins just isn’t feasible

Not having a left-footed LB has been the root problem ... we become too predictable in attack out of it. We can't go deep left in attack because a right-footed punt up the field has more tendency to go out of play and it’s harder to cross out of that corner, if we even get it there in the first place. On top of that, the opponent's defenders don't have to hug the touchline as much ... it becomes an easier marshaling job which THEN enables the other defenders to put more pressure on Saka or the 10 in the right side of our attacking zone. We need Luke Shaw healthy or else put Saka there.

Dean just had the perfect point, look at the 20 mins clip when Palmer came on, he aways dropped to defensive part of the game as a wing back to pick the ball up , but still nobobd(walker) is making the overlapping run , so basically Palmer has to run 60 yeards every time to come to attacking areas, I think at this either play 4-3-3 or play wing backs who can really run on the wings to support attack.

Harry Kane is the problem. He wants to play every single position except Center Forward. Bellingham and Foden don't know how to play with a Striker who drops back like Kane. Southgate is a League One level manager.

This shows you that it is not important if a player is best player in the league rather it is more important with who you playing and which coach you have there. Foden is just because of Pep and his teamates and the same goes with Bellingham. Kane is little bit different because he has already got many years experience and he is highly dependent on who is around him on the field.

It's interesting, just been listening to Eric Cantona on the Rest is Football a fantastic podcast chaired by Gary Liniker, and Eric thinks the pace of the Premier League is to blame, so our players are tired for end of season tournements. Garath is also playing our 'first' 11 into the ground with no subs and we even played an extra half an hour. Foden might be correct about what Garath is saying on the pitch but everybody can agree that tactically and use of substitutions have been bad and have been poor throughout Southgate's reign as England manager.

Bellingham is incredibly overrated. He’s great at getting on the ends of things, arriving late in the box and scoring goals but he’s not creative in any shape or form and if you think he is then you don’t watch him week in week out at Real. He doesn’t link the play and play through balls which what England are missing massively. Switching foden to the 10 position. He’s far more suitable than Bellingham in that position.
