My sister was diagnosed with Stage 4 Breast Cancer on February 2nd 2018. Her odds of surviving 5 years were 5%. She is still here today thanks to immunotherapy and willpower. Her story changed my thinking. Every decision I make is based on trying to live life to the fullest and not waste any time.

My step daughter is stage 4 colon cancer. She’s 3 years in. She has been in a the hospital for a month. Her cancer has spread to her entire body. Her liver is full of tumors. She became sepsis. We are picking her up possibly tomorrow to probably slowly pass. She still has an infection. She can’t get any more chemo until the infection is gone. But they gave her antibiotics for a month and it didn’t go away. She also has continuous fluid in her belly. She had a breathing tube for 2 of the 4 weeks. Yes, she is going home. But I’m pretty sure we will be rushing her back to the hospital. She can’t keep food down. She’s in terrible pain. Has to get fluid removed twice a week, which is where she got the infection. Thanks for Letting me vent. We are very stressed and heart broken.

It’s not fair. I’m so sorry she is going through this and what it does to the rest of her family. Nobody should be in this position. I keep hoping the miracle that happened for my sister becomes a regular occurrence for patients. I’ll keep you in my thoughts when I reflect on life. What’s her name?

Wow, that is alot she has been going through. My sister also has colon cancer that has metalized. Her bladder has been badly affected where she needed a nephrostomy tube in her kidneys. She can't even start chemo because of all that is going on with her. And this only started 3mths, stage 3c

@@highguysvideo Monica, and thank you. She is still fighting. She was in the hospital for 6 weeks and came home with a permanent drainage tube. She finally started chemo again. But we know that it will just shrink some tumors, not get rid of them. We know that she will pass one day, we just hope she can be kept comfortable.

Thank you for this video. You video came up randomly in my recommended videos. My only sibling, my younger sister was diagnosed with stage 2 cancer and it progressed to stage 4 in less than 10 months. She did all available treatments, harsh chemo, and fought for 13 months. We had many talks during that 13 months about a lot of things you mention in this video. I think she thought she would have more time and didn’t expect to decline as fast as she did towards the end. It was a matter of weeks and then she was unconscious. The whole family went through so much and honestly her death changed me forever. She passed away 6 years ago and it seems like it was a few months ago. Life is so fragile and it really puts things in perspective. We must cherish every moment with our loved ones. Life is so short.

This is devastating to read. I often look up at the clock and say how did this much time pass since the diagnosis? It always feels like time is just marching on. One of the reasons I try to record a lot of videos of people I know is just to preserve the memory and have a piece of their life on camera. So very sorry to read about your sister. I hope the memories stay warm for you.

Lost my mom three days ago to glioblastoma. They told her that she could have 1-2 years. I feel they gave her false hope. She was 70 with COPD, history of pulmonary embolisms, CHF… like how could you even lie to her. ): she didn’t have time to say bye to the grandkids.. nothing. I might add this was at Emory on top of that. Thanks for the video.

Great video. A diagnosis like this certainly puts things in perspective for the person diagnosed and their loved ones. I'm glad it had a positive impact on your way of life despite still being incredibly hard to cope with and wrap your mind around. Praying for your sister and you and your family. I saw a comment you responded to about a month ago saying you were planning a hike with your sister, how is she doing today? I hope she is well and still fighting!❤ Beating the odds is so awesome because new treatments are constantly coming out and the longer you keep fighting the longer you're around for new and better treatments. I would so love to see the day that cancer is cured and a thing of the past. We can only hope and pray for the day!❤️🙏

They gave him 3 months on October 27,2022, three days before his birthday and he passed away December 23,2022. I still struggle everyday. I can't imagine what c the person dying has to go through. In 1957 there were 4 cancers, now there are more that 200.. Cancers come from environmental exposures (usually over many years).. We don't "catch" cancer, we are given cancer, and I should know, I have 2 already and could have a 3rd depending in the results of my 2nd CT Scan in 30 days.. 196 cancers developed in 66 years, let that sink in..
@highguysvideo

I agree that there are more carcinogens and cancer causing elements these days, but I also think they are finding new forms of it because screening and diagnosing has evolved too.

@@viatranquilla You have 10 people. None of them live where sharks are. The chance of getting killed by a shark is 0. 1 of them moves to the coast and picks up surfing. 1 shark death. Does that mean sharks are getting closer to people? 😆 Maybe you need to understand how those statistics work. Not even those "survival chances in 5 years" can predict what will happen to an individual - I'm quite mad this video contributes to the confusion in the first place. In 5 years they've tried new treatment, there'll have been new research, more testing, etc. In the case of the most common cancers, people outlive those older stats. That's just how statistics works, we can't see into the future to know for sure!
@viatranquilla

@@joanabug4479 However there are over 200 types of cancer, which can be classified by where they start in the body or by the type of cell they start in. For example, cancers can start in the lymphatic system, the brain, or the spinal cord. Some common types of cancer include: Bladder cancer, Breast cancer, Colorectal cancer, Kidney cancer, Lung cancer, Lymphoma, Pancreatic cancer, Prostate cancer, Skin cancer, and Uterine cancer. I was just diagnosed with lung cancer in my right lung and I don't live near sharks.. lol.. They made 200 cancers whereas there were 4 67 years ago, tell your shark story to your doctor when you get 1 of 200 cancers, or Gid forbid someone you love..

I was recently diagnosed with cancer. The way I look at it is that it is just a number/statistic. It just means that 5 out of 100 people with the same cancer make it to 5 years (don't forget that these are people of all ages, social status, health status, economic status). Those 5 people have a 100% chance of making it 5 years and you could be one of them!

@iSheree
@iSheree Год назад
@@highguysvideo absolutely. While positivity and attitude may not save your life if you have stage 4 cancer, it most likely extends your life and probably helps with having a more peaceful death when your time does come. If you’re lucky you may go into remission for a while, extending your life! With treatment these days, more and more people are living longer with cancer. Which is amazing. Being diagnosed with cancer really knocked the wind out of me. It is really hard to remain positive all the time with the diagnosis, but I am working on it! :)
