He's done videos like these for years, the only difference was it used to be for big name/popular games like Smite and Far Cry Primal. Because of his politics/controversies related to politics he isn't able to do sponsored videos for games like those anymore. Hell even for the "less contentious" content creators I see all they're able to do anymore for sponsors is also either mobile games or things like Raycon earbuds, Ridge Wallet, etc. Also shouldering the responsibility of a Patreon is probably something he would rather not do if he can help it. If you're already well-off and also getting paid decent sponsor money for brief ads for some mobile games like Jon probably is then he's not going to do a Patreon unless he was really hurting. And without a Patreon he can do videos at his leisure and not be beholden to promises offered for tiered patrons and so forth. RU-vid is a different place than it was when JonTron was peaking as a content creator (when he did reviews of video games, when he had that intro, Jacques as a side character), as were his relations with other creators and his audience before...things happened, and the content he chooses to do now is also different (while retaining his characteristic personality). In short, everything has gone to complete and utter shit. But Jon is maintaining pretty well I'd say. And his videos are still good. So that counts for something I think.

I support a few people on Patreon not because I feel _obligated_ to, but because I really like their work and I want to support what they're doing so that they *don't* have to rely on things like Raid: Shadow Legends being slapped on everything everywhere and taking up almost two minutes of their videos. Plus, he could do perks like early video access, shoutouts, behind the scenes stuff and maybe even an exclusive Discord or something like that. It would be a cool idea.

Almost certain this video got Jon and Co at least $100k. I'm fine with these videos if the creators are making money.

I guarantee that if he starts a Patreon he won't get shit. I've seen so many creators try to do just that and all the people asking don't donate a cent. Jon isn't that stupid, and people don't know what they want and will break a promise that won't effect them. I'd rather Jon do this and get reliable payment than expect degens on the internet with no job to give him 5 bucks a month just so he doesn't inconvenience them with an occasional ad. He needs to support his channel the way he sees most fit, would you trust strangers on the internet to put food on your table?

Admitted its best years are behind it at this point and it's dropped off the top 20 most earning games on the store but it's still making a pretty penny off the existing player-base. Like most gacha games the tactic is to pull as many people in, in your first year with a shit ton of ads and then rely on milking your long time customers for as long as possible before closing the game. Of course some games like Fg/o and Genshin break that trend and seem to pull in new players constantly. But most gachas like Raid follow the above.

Id be down for this.

I think these sponsors add a certain type of meta-level to these videos that's comical in itself.

This is pretty shameless and his recent videos aren't generally good enough to warrant a Patreon I think. Goop 1&2 we're funny but kid nation, boating licence, etc weren't that great. I miss the old game and movie reviews Jon is somewhat based, but this shameless money grubbing is going to ruin that and he'll wind up like every other "content creator"

Jons been on a slow downward spiral of subs since the start of the year because people see him as greedy and only making content for the sake of money. This video definitely doesn't change that perception. In the short term this ad is going to bring him a lot of money but if he continues down this road he's going to lose subs and worse he's going to lose views. *tl'dr* - It's that old folly of focusing on the present rather than looking at the long term. See the current US inflation issues for a pretty blatant example.

Dislyte actually isn't like the trailers. It's a typical turn based gatcha yes, but with plenty of its own unique style with graphics that are really appealing. It's vibe is music and the summon screen let's you be a, "mini DJ." It's got its quirks that keep me playing for now. I don't know if I see much playability for a long time though. I recommend giving it a try though

RU-vid gives rates per thousand views, so 10-30c per k is more in the realm of the plausable. Also, i think the comment was asking what the company paid specifically for a fully written, staged, produced comercial for a product, which would likely be independent of RU-vid ad revenue, i.e. contract work, which would be interesting to know. I'm glad, though, that dispite putting a clear ammount of work into the production, it's pretty clear Jon is making this for money, not his usual passion project's flair.

Some people still believe there was some conspiracy that drove Jon away from the show. Whether or not that's true is none of our business though. Both Jon's channel an Arin's channel output great content, so in the end Jon's reason for leaving the show doesn't matter much.
