We had a fairly warm day here in Southeast Ohio with temperatures in the mid 40s. The creek was in perfect condition with a touch of ice around the banks. This little tributary can have some amazing smallmouth in it if you put in the time. I decided to throw something I have never thrown for smallmouth before. Come along with me as I beat the banks and look for some deep wintering holes in this skinny water! I’m so pump man you and John from creek fishing adventures inspired me a ton and I finally got a GoPro last night. Steep banks w/ soft water ,facing the sun they'll post up there in the cold,also,bridge pilings that face the sun release heat and fish will "cuddle" up to the pillars to absorb that heat,I do topwater on the pillars in feb/march in the gmr in Dayton. I saw a study done in Minn where smb know the dif between claws and no claws,like almost 60% greater chance of an attack.

Pretty cool. We used to use shrimp for catfish growing up in the Ohio. Never considered using the Nikko Shrimp. Excellent underwater footage too.

Creek fishing for smallies is my favorite. Awesome vid. That shrimp looks kind of like those Deps cover scat that everyone has been going crazy for. The shrimp will probably last a lot longer though.

Man I'm from Piqua and dang I use to crush the smallies in the Miami and stillwater rivers. I live in the blackhills of south Dakota now...a little different fishing than what I'm use to but wow trout fishing is so fun in the mountain streams. I pike bass and walleye fish in the summer and trout fish all winter long in creeks that never freeze up being spring fed....if u ever come out this way I could point u to some awesome fishing. Keep it up man.....LETS GOOOO

This weather is crazy Brother. I'm pumped a bit. the Hocking is beautiful little river. I watched a lot of creek fishing adventures channel with John because I love creek fishing for small mouth and large mouth. I have been watching your channel a lot more because you are in basically the same environment as I am. We have one beautiful creek up this way that runs from Barnesville/Woodsfield Ohio area to Powhatan point Ohio and it the cleanest water shed in the state. Captina creek.You could make some great videos there as well. We have plenty of fish and Captina Creek is home to some 56 known species of fish. The surrounding area is also home to many diverse plant life and rare and endangered species such as the bobcat and the Eastern Hellbender. I have had to work the last couple of days and I work a lot of double shifts and 12 hr shifts. Not enough time to fish on those days.

Have spots loaded with giant creek chubs. They are the best to teach kids to fish lures. Kids like action to stay engaged. They’re aggressive, any small lure works and gets young ones engaged in the basic concept of lure fishing with constant action. Then they accidentally hook a 2 pound smallmouth on that pink lady zebco combo and like magic all of a sudden they’re digging through your crank baits and asking how to work a weedless jig. Willing to be a little more patient, wanting another taste of that adrenaline rush😂. Thanks again for another great video👍

I enjoyed this video and it is very encouraging that such fish can be caught in February in Ohio. I also switched over to FMG and watched your interview. I thought it was awesome. I would encourage all of your viewers to watch the FMG interview. It is fun to watch and very informative. I have been studying Tim Holshlag's writings on smallmouth fishing and your advice is totally consistent with Tim's great SMB wisdom. Keep up the good work.

Dude, way to take it up a level... I watch these kinds of channels for good entertainment--fishing is fun. Also watch them for some insight on products technique but rarely do we see innovation and you nailed it. I even did a search "fishing for bass with shrimp" and only found two videos using artificial and neither of them were attempting to imitate a craw without pinchers--they were using natural "shrimp" colors. My only disappointment was looking up the cost of that rod/reel setup$$$$$$$$$$$$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
