I prefer the 3 pair method, 1 to hike in, one spare/alternate day and sleep/camp socks

Where's the pink long spoon though?! A lil tip, when searching for the "Swedish dish cloth", search for vileda/wettex, if you want the original. They are a forever product, doesn't matter how grimey it gets, warmest program in the washer, and it comes out as new, over and over again.

A 100% flax linen towel is also very good to bring. I always bring my linen towel. Lightweight, strong, soaks up water, dries fast, and antimicrobial.

Swedish cloth? I wasn't aware they were called that. Those are just what I've been using in the kitchen for the last 30 years :) And as you say brilliant at getting rid of condensation. If it starts to smell just boil it for 10 minutes :)

Nice list. I know you're selling them, but I recently switched from this style trowel to snow anchor tent stakes for digging cat holes, and mutch prefer them. Plus you have stakes for really soft ground, sand and of course snow. I carry both these, and the best stakes available, msr groundhogs. 👍
@danielkutcher5704
@danielkutcher5704 2 года назад
I love the Groundhogs and also use a trowel. I imagine that it could be used as a stake in soft ground. It's a little short, though.
@carrdoug99
@carrdoug99 2 года назад
@@danielkutcher5704 what I'm talking about are regular tentstakes for snow. REI calls them snow stakes in fact. I use these instead of a trowel. Works much better than any trowel I've ever used.

Hey Justin ! A little off topic but I'm looking for a pair of hiking boots for off trail. I know you like the toe room that the hokas offer but can you recommend a leather boot with a wide toe? Thanks for all you do bud 👍
@danielkutcher5704
@danielkutcher5704 2 года назад
Try Keen boots. I have a pair that are waterproof, for winter use only. I am a longtime Altra wearer, and only use boots in the winter. I have even hiked with trail runners, waterproof socks, and 10 point strap-on crampons, to see if I could. I can, but prefer to use microspikes with trail runners now.

Hey Justin, I live just north of you near our province capital. I'm wanting to order a quilt from Enlightened Equipment Enigma but I can't decide what temp. rating I should go with and would like your 2cents. It's between the -6 or -12. I don't plan on doing that much winter camping (still will happen) but with our temps in the Rockies in early spring and late fall it can get rather chilly but we also do have warmer nights. I can't afforded two quilts (summer and winter) and I'm not sure which one to go with. Do you think going with the -12 quilt would be too warm in the summer?
@JustinOutdoors
@JustinOutdoors 2 года назад
-12C probably wouldn't be overkill for the Canadian Rockies if you're an average warmth sleeper. My favorite system is a -6 down enigma and then a 40F revelation Apex quilt. Those two layered together are a phenomenal combo that can take you into warmer winter temps.

@@mcgovski Good to hear you got a refund. Everyone is different and what might work great for one person might not for another. I can only speak from personal experience while also factoring in anecdotes from friends and acquaintances and online reviews. So thanks for sharing your experience. That being said, stating they are worthless is a bold statement. There is only one product I have ever reviewed that I would consider worthless and a useless product for anyone.
